Firstly thanks scoot1690, and the mods for all your help.
This is a generic comment, received a box with gemini project 2 (I have nothing against the image) and struggled, could find where to load epg, could not get the image to instruct the hdd path for recording, could not find add ons that I wanted, could not get the USB to behave, and so on. I, after a week and out of frustration, I flashed a different image, gee whizz, within a couple of hours I had flashed the image, setup the hdd, got the epg (including picons) and sent them to the usb.the moral of this story is as follows.

The first image sapped all my confidence (nothing worked for me), I even lost all coms with my daughters box which another member is kindly sorting out for me, Ihaving reflashed another image it must of suited me and my box better. Dont give up, try another image and make sure your box is compatible with the image. Maybe test a few images and if you cant get a start, try another one

hi all, can someone please tell me which epg is compatible to
sim201-SS82-de-133dv3PHOENIX2-dm800-13052011.nfi and can I use sgt flipflop transponder catagories, or should i be using something different for this image

I have tried all the sotware repair options down to teminal emulator, I do beleive that the cas 3 and solder pads are the only answer. I understand what you are saying and if i thought there was another avenue \i would use it. but before i go there I was ask for a definative tut or stickie on the subject before I attempt it mate

Ok all,

I have read and read, for a couple of days and the nearest scenario to my current situation that I can fined is that I may have flashed a genuine dream image (it had an avatar logo), it is written somewhere that if you do that and the box is a clone the flash contacts dream, they in turn update the box and remove the port info (Serial & Ethernet), that now requires a cas 3 (which i have) and the cable which has to be soldered on the dm800 board/PCB. SoI will have a go at that. Does anyone have a good sticky tutoril that they can point me towards.

yes with a mag, and i resoldered all 6 pins, still no joy mate

hi pem1i dont see any dry joints on the sim socket pins, what if I change the sim, is the ip address held on the sim cause if it is my son has exactly the same box and maybe I could program the sim in his and transfer the sim back to my box, just a thought

has anyoe tried the method below?
If you don't see an IP address after a few seconds, you will need to use a terminal emulator to set an IP address for the Dreambox manually. Enter "115200/8N1" as the COM port in the terminal emulator and press the "S" key to access the Dreambox menu. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the "Network" menu and set the network type filed to "Manual." Enter an IP address that is not in use on your network in the IP Address field and press "F9" to save.

no it just says "dreambox-Err 01-No Ca- look at http://www.dm7000.com" Sh#t it appears that I have attempted to put a gen flash on a clone:Ah bad to worse

My DM800HD 2.01 box went into error 1 ca fault following a flash image crash last night, I have run both the Dreamup Patch and NCF programs but no joy.
When I run the programs the comm port is recognised (I have tested the serial cable on a Dm500 and it works.
But even though I power the box up at the prompt, the box is not recognised.
Is there a serial base level to allow comms (like telenet)

No cas, It is in my package manager with a 'green' globe at the side of it when I went to install it on download plugins and select it, that says its installed, but where? I cannot find it mate

As we all know, DM800 HD has the USB port, this makes it possible to plug a USB wireless network card to DM800 HD. However, if we want to use the function of USB wireless network card, we should have a wireless network access point (AP) first. We can use the 54Mbps WIFI ADSL router to set up the WLAN. First, we should plug the WIFI USB wireless network card to the USB port on the backboard of DM800 HD, and then turn on DM800 HD. Secondly; you have to set up the parameters in the operating system. The operating system we use now is Gemini 2.

I take no credit for this, i found it on another site, but it took me ages to find and it does work

1. Go though the way of Main Menu - Blue Board - Settings to get into the Kernel Module setting interface. Since the USB wireless network card we use in this case uses the drive of RT73, we choose the WLAN RT73 and save the settings use the green button.

2. After the loading process, get into the internet setting interface though the way of Main Menu - Settings - System. Choose the option to restart network.

3. If the network is restarted, go back to the network setting interface. Now, here will be the Choosing Network Card option, push OK on remote controller to get in.

4. Now you are in the Network Settings interface, there will be a scan wireless network extra option. Before we get to use the WLAN, we have to scan wireless network signal first, so push the OK button and get in.

5. In the interface of Choose a Wireless Network, we can see the Hot - Spots around us. Choose the one you want to connect and you will see the massage of "1 WIRELESS NETWORK (S) FOUND!" The SSID of the network may be the name of the router you uses and ENCRYPTION: NO means that the network doesn't use the encryption settings.
