(Don't take it against me but as a songwriter on the PurE2 Team, I had to... :laugh1:)

    Lots to learn here https://forums.openpli.org/top…able-setup-possibilities/

Jargon, proper tech names, clearing up notions, even the ones that are in E2 may be wrong and so on...

Main thing is, one gets to learn what new tech can do, its advantages and disadvantages...

Maybe new recs will have proper blindscan - we'll see when they come out soon...

    We hope, that is... ;)

P.S. In PurE2 one has special FNC plugins by Franc: LiveFeeds-FNC and even WAZZup-FNC, which may help...:cool1:

One more for the road.... but this one is movies with German audio/language...

    Filme-FNC

    Quote

HD/FullHD movies with German audio. So only with German audio.

Also, descriptions and meta data as trailers are in German language.

    Enjoy!

I have a couple of (or 3) solutions which will rejuvenate your old machine!

    1) Try OpenPLI

The reason is that the OpenPLi images are usually smaller, leaner and meaner and therefore more suitable for older machines with a seriously small flash.

Nevertheless, one has to expand one's Flash because it's extremely limited by today's standards.

    How? Well, you:

    a) add a large enough USB stick, which you

-previously partition in your PC into 2 partitions, using, for instance, Mini Tool Partition Wizard freeware, in EXT4 format

-mount the smaller one as /media/usb and

    -the bigger as /media/cf;

    b) later add an HDD to the mix and mount it as /media/hdd...

To /media/usb one expands one's limited flash memory, using the Flash Expander plugin - it will move the /usr folder to it.

To /media/cf one makes a SWAP file, sends EPG to it, also picons, buffering and cache for E2iPlayer/IPTV Player, save subtitles for films streaming etc.

To /media/hdd one sends only recording & timeshift, plus one downloads films via E2iPlayer, if one is so inclined and if there is enough space to do it.

OK, I have an old Ferrari 500 HD, which is very similar to your old machine, so it is all very much alike...

So, here is something for it I prepared earlier, since I can't replicate it all here now (too long and too many attachments, screenshots etc.), so I will just post a link to my precise, detailed and painstakingly careful guide to rejuvenating your old machine, where you can download all the tools for it, too! ;)

You may have to register to get the files and see links there but it will be worth it! This above is with OpenPLi image for it...

On the other hand, if you want something more modern and fresh, up-to-date and properly supported, then you could get...

    2) PurE2 - you might love it... It used to have a built-in Flash Expander (now, I think you can download it from MENU > PLUGINS > EXTENSIONS)! And a lot more, starting from the best Device Manager which - for older devices - is crucial to set up an image structure properly! I.e. a properly done/prepared image structure will make it do things it "normally" can't do...

You have on this forum my posts aplenty, as to how to install PurE2, configure it, get your CamDs, FNC plugins and a lot more... Here is a link to my discussion re. PurE2 image version for Japhar SIM card, with a "how to" to resize it, expand it and so on...

You will find there an appropriate image for your box, too, as you can use original images for it, I believe.

I wrote there the following, amongst other things:

One removes the bits of E2 one doesn't need. One must be careful here. I do it via Telnet, using the following command (which you should modify according to your needs/requirements/etc. - this one below is for MY needs):

    Code
    opkg remove --force-depends --force-remove tzdata-africa tzdata-americas tzdata-asia tzdata-australia tzdata-pacific sambaserver samba rt61-firmware packagegroup-base-ipv6 openssh-sftp-server kernel-module-r* kernel-module-usbserial kernel-module-zd1211rw enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-positionersetup enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-mphelp firmware-* enigma2-plugin-drivers* volatile-media rtmpdump kernel-module-mac80211 kernel-module-at* enigma2-plugin-extensions-epgsearch enigma2-plugin-extensions-cutlisteditor enigma2-plugin-extensions-supportchannel enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-autobouquetsmaker enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-commoninterfaceassignment enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-cablescan dropbear kernel-module-belkin-sa kernel-module-pl2303 kernel-module-ftdi-sio enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-blindscan

    Reboot.

Now, I have 4MB free in my flash. Go to MENU > Plugins > Extensions > Flash Expander > install > EXIT button.

Start Flash Expander and install it on the smaller 2GB partition (it will later on appear as /usr, as you'll see soon). Restart will follow, after it moves the /usr folder content to USB /media/usb partition.

I then use a SWAP Manager, to create a SWAP file (512MB) on /media/cf partition, activate it and I also make it "autostart" with E2."

PurE2 has a SWAP MANAGER INCLUDED in DEVICE MANAGER nowadays, so no worries, you'll see it in PMANAGER > DEVICE MANAGER.

It also has built-in tools to direct E2 towards the folders for picons (it should be in media/cf/picon folder, in my setup) or to send EPG to /media/cf and so on and so forth...

    Good luck!

    P.S.

    3) There is another possibility but YOU ARE GOING TO TRY IT AT YOUR OWN RISK ONLY, AS I CAN NOT GUARANTEE IT WILL WORK WITH A DIFFERENT SIM CARD FROM THE ORIGINAL ONE, AND THAT IT WILL NOT FUCK UP YOUR MACHINE ("compliments" of the author, gutemine):

    Code
    http://www.hd-digital-satcrew.com/forum/board385-pur-e2-image-bereich/board417-dreambox/28988-flodder-dm800se-pure2-how-to/

The "Flodder" script will move everything from the flash to a USB stick (single partition large enough stick) and hence give you loads of space in a simple manner.... IF it works... Better and faster USB sticks should give you better performance... But not all will work...

PurE2 has a script to do it (moving of everything, i.e. "root" folder to flash) via remote controller, very neatly and simply, in 800HD SE:

    MENU > PMANAGER > SCRIPTS...

In the oscam.server file one points to where these ought to be or rather where OSCam will be searching for them...

This is how I (partially) edited my files, published here, as well - OSCam Emu for PurE2:

    You're welcome! :)

Usually? C'mon, what is this - lazy-bum convention?:laugh1: You asked for help, you got it, even though it's seriously simple... so, stop complaining...:rasta2bigsmoke0gf1:

It's not a keyboard but Keyboard/RC section! OK? A small difference. Pay attention next time...:P

This: "I don't think anyone will be look for them in keyboard section" is wrong, you know... Most of us can learn. So, you see a solution, learn and change a neural path, i.e. remember it next time...;):rasta2bigsmoke0gf1:

Difficult to go to Plugins and download a plugin? Boy, you had a sheltered life...:laugh1: But OK, at least you've got us to shield you even more...:welcome41:

That is why it IS included in the PurE2 as default!!! :)

    MENU > SETUP > SYSTEM > KEYBOARD/RC > see attached... :laugh1:

    What more do you want?

And no, it is NOT difficult... Really, you choose a button and choose a function... That's it...

(And you have many more settings to choose what your RC buttons will do for you, too many to mention - you will have to search a bit and have fun...)
