hi guys

Just a quick one, Iv never been a fan or used these streaming boxes, kodi and other variety's but recently i see lots of adverts for an IPTV service, £$xxx per month etc.

Now i was of the understanding that the kodi boxes iptv etc all simply gave you all the links to various streaming sites in a nice little GUI, none of the content coming from any one server.

so now i'm looking at these adverts and wondering what service are they providing for a premium? i cant imagine they are hosting the content themself?

just wanted a little more understanding as to what they actually provide technically speaking. can anyone enlighten me?

I have a Friend who has a DM800SE Clone, he has had it a few years and its been going just fine, He messaged me earlier today and asked if he can upgrade the 2.01 SIM.

Iv used a dm800 with a 2.01 sim for some time and had no problems, but i have never looked into actually upgrading the Sim as such.

My questions are;

1. are the sims up-gradable?
2. What is the benefit of upgrading, over staying with the 2.01 SIM

Sorry i know that is very vague but like i said i have had no problems with my dreambox and never saw a reason to upgrade the sim, i did read somewhere that with an upgraded sim you can run the original DB software? is that much better? i like the modded versions personally as its hard to find an image that does everything i want in regards to addons etc.

any advice is greatly appreciated as always

Bit Pricey considering the price new, majority of people on here will be able to deal with the software side easy enough, might have better chance on ebay

This was basically just to test, had this dm800 for about a year just couldnt be arsed to do anything with it, lack of hd finally kicked me up the ass.

i now have a problem which you might be able to help with. i want to run the dm800 sat and dm800 cable simultaneously
problem is the remotes work on either box.

i.e. i go chan up on the dm800 (cable) sat box will jump as well.

anyway i can do something about that?

there are what looks like some jumper pins just above battery compartment but i could be wrong,

auto scan only picks up 112 services? that cant be right? what am i missing

used ie 11, and chrome and firefox no joy just hangs when i hit flash.
trying with dreamup now via http,
seems to be taking an awful long time calculating check-sum
as its going via http i wouldnt expect it to be any slower than the browser? is it work me trying to upload via rs232 assuming that will take forever and a day

uploaded with dreamup adn i got this error

flashing failed (!!! 002 CRC Failed), Box will be unusable now!!

have i just bricked the damn thing?

think i managed to save it back on the #82 bootloader now

now last time round i went straight from 82 to 84d which caused problems any advice better upgrading to a lower version first?

sorted it! just kept trying finally loaded, thanks for the help

It wa smy cable, it was an RS232 not a null
got a new cable and repaired the no ca error

other problem now;

uploaded the ssl84d bootloader ok
but now the new image im using wont upload
click flash does nothing but hang

cheers same tool i have already used but no joy. Im starting to think it is my cable. im using a rs232 to usb and then what i thought was a female to female null modem cable but as it does not detect the dreambox im now unsure. i have ordered another null modem cable off the net hopefully that will be more like it.

has anyone ever seen a box be totally dead and not respond on rs232 just encase my problem is some how different?

the no ca error shows up pretty quickly and no button combination etc will take it out of that mode.

also the Ethernet port are light up regardless of any connectivity

i have used the no ca tool to try and fix the issue but it never seems to start.

A tone recommend a better media player than the one that seems to be in all images I'm currently running open pli 3. Something that supports more codecs etc

A8p is the sims name? Do they only work in dm800se's ? Is there anything on my dm800hd clone I can upgrade to make more stable hardware wise?

Hi, I have a dm800hd clone with the 2.01 sim, iv been thinking of upgrading them sim to a ferrari sim or some newer type of sim. Apparently if I upgrade this I will be able to run offical dm images, is this correct? If so is there a real stability and performance increase. What are the offical dm images like?

Im looking on putting a receiver in one of my spare rooms. i have everything setup ready. i just need a receiver that supports HD out, via hdmi preferabley.
and can run CCCAM.

cheap as possible as it wont be used much.

I Have a DM800HD , Clone, it doesnt have the newer type SIM in it so i cannot run any of the brand new images.

i currently have OpenPli running on it. it works great and it was really easy to set up.
the only thing is at the moment, everything is running and installed on internal memory. i could never figure out how i could get all my bouquets and other plugins etc to actually install on USB?

i would also like to use the DM800 as a media centre so i popped some video on the fat32 formatted 128gb usb stick. plugged into the box and launched the "Media Player" which i think came preinstalled with the OpenPli image.

it didnt play everything i wanted i cant remember the exact formats now

think it played the mp4 but not the avi or visa versa, my question is what is the best media player to install that can literally play anything i throw at it? most of these video's will be 720p / 1080p mkv's but i would like the ability to play everything else.

also is it possible to browse a network share for media?

wow that is expensive sorry was lazy didn't read through all your hardware specs. im pretty sure the tuner i posted is supported. and you can get a quad lnb version. going to give this ago onc eiv got the rig together thanks for all your help.
