    My cyfra ecm are a little high, around 200ms. Other locals are fine. So trying to reduce this.

    Will running the following sudo apt-get update & sudo apt-get upgrade also update the omnikey drivers if there is an update available?

    If not, how do I make sure my omnikey drivers are the latest.
    Any other ideas on how to reduce that ecm.

    Reader for cyfra:

    [reader]
    label = CYFRA
    protocol = pcsc
    device = 0
    mhz = 357
    cardmhz = 357

    emmcache = 1,3,2
    group = 2
    caid = 0100

    Recently added the bits shown in blue, doesn't seem to have made any diff tho.
    Thanks

    Do you need:

    mhz = 357
    cardmhz = 357

    I thought for omnikeys this wasn't needed as it auto detected?

    I have 3 omnikeys running. Two with caid 0963 (two card with diff entitlements) and the other with cyfra caid.

    Am using a diff account for each card.

    If you want to see the relevant files I can email them to you.

    But if you sign up for multiple accounts using different email address................

    I currently have two accounts which both work fine at the same time. I use it as backup and as a filler.

    Replaced my files with the uploaded ones, many thanks btw.
    Then restarted pcscd.

    Now when I run the command 'opensc-tool -l' I get:

    # Detected readers (pcsc)
    Nr. Card Features Name
    0 Yes OmniKey CardMan 3121 00 00
    1 No OmniKey CardMan 3121 01 00

    But if I run command ' opensc-tool ?list-readers -i' I get:

    opensc 0.12.2 [gcc 4.6.3]
    Enabled features: zlib readline openssl pcsc(libpcsclite.so.1)
    root@ubuntu:~#

    So I take it thats the readers installed ok now?

    All these new commands etc are confusing, I have scrap bits of paper everywhere!!
    Just not quite ready to switch from win7 to linux.

    I set this up last week on Ubuntu as above only edited the lines that were present & it was working well, i also did a fresh install of debian 6.0.5 less than a week ago & in this os the pcsc file is unchanged from the version shown in the omnikey tutorial. If for any reason you end up trying Debian instead this script has been updated.

    ok, just to clarify then the only changes made to opensc file are:

    remove hash from 'try_emulation_first = yes;'
    remove hash from 'lock_login = true;' and change value to false?

    When I run opensc-tool ?list-readers -i

    I get:

    opensc 0.12.2 [gcc 4.6.3]
    Enabled features: zlib readline openssl pcsc(libpcsclite.so.1)

    thanks

    haven't got that far yet. Just trying to install my omnikey and get it to show up when I run the command to list readers. If someone could message or mail me their opensc file so that I can compare.

    Has the opensc file been updated?

    I am trying to do the following step in ubuntu tut:

    And change thise lines by removing # from front and reader_drivers lines u delete one comand too:
    reader_drivers = pcsc, ctapi;

    But I can't find that line. There seems to be a section for pcsc & ctapi.
    Maybe I'm blind!

    cheers

    This is a nice new thread. Wouldn't want to upset thatfellow ;)

    anyways I had posted this at the tail end of his ubuntu tut:

    'Having a wee play with this. But when I log into my router I can't see the linux PC. It is also wired to the router.
    Do I need to install samba?'

    I can now see linux PC on my network :stmutz:

    I had to reset my router to factory settings and install new firmware.

    Took me about 6 installs of ubuntu to figure what the problem was. But at least I now know what 'sudo' and 'nano' are!

    I would certainly set the static IP address within my router, if indeed the server showed up on my lan as a connected device etc but it doesn't.

    I'll change back to DHCP to see if it appears. It was originally set this way and didn't show up.

    Sorry for messing your thread btw! I appreciate the tut and if this doesn't resolve it I will start a new thread.

    Thats pretty strange..
    1.. Check the cable with your laptop to rule out that.
    2.. Was your server connected to the router during Ubuntu Setup & Install? If so, the ethernet card drivers & DHCP settings should have been automatically configured.
    3.. Have you made any changes to the networking settings in Ubunty?

    The cable is fine. I ran the ifconfig and got the ip address from there. Then I edited the /etc/network/interfaces file to change to a static ip. This also worked and now have a static ip.
    Now the sudo apt-get update & upgrade is just throwing up error messages like:

    root@ubuntu:~# sudo apt-get update
    Err http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com precise InRelease

    Err http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com precise-updates InRelease

    Err http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com precise-backports InRelease

    Any ideas? Think it is a problem stemming from the server not showing up in my router and then access being denied. Can't see any firewall options in my router (netgear wndr3700)

    I can access the server via putty though.

    Anyone recommend a good usenet provider?

    Giganews remove HBO stuff pretty quickly and Astraweb starting to having lots of incompletes for me.

    I use a a blocknews account for backup.
