My old openPLi 2.1 image has recently started falling apart. New versions of plugins rarely work and the box has just become so fragile, green screens when trying pretty much anything other than zapping channels.

My question is, I have an 84b bootloader at the moment, is it ok just to flash the image? or (as I suspect) is there a step inbetween, upgrading 84b to 84d first? I've never done that before.

I think my sim is 2.01, I'm not sure how to check or sure, it's definitely 2.something, is is crucial?

Please forgive the insecurity but the last (and only) time I did this was about 4 years ago I think, it's worked great since.

An odd question I know but I have a peer who has good performing cards on hop 2...except **y which is very glitchy. The weird thing is if I get **y on hop3 it's very good (don't ask me how).

So is there anything I can add to the cline to filter out **y on hop2 but allow it on hop3. I tried... { 0:0:1, 0:0:2, 0963:0:3 } thinking it would only take it from hop3 that way but no joy.

Any ideas?

I actually won't be needing a vu box for a while anyway because a new power adapter fixed my dreambox issues.

I can't mate, there's a problem with the power. It does appear to almost certainly a faulty power supply.

I think you were right with your original diagnosis mate, I've just tried to boot up my old dreambox clone with the same power supply and exactly the same thing happens...slight hum but nothing else. I know the old box works. Ordering one up now :)

Thanks mate, I've actually noticed a VU Uno with a 500GB drive for an ok price from our sponsor...cheapest I can find. Looks like it could be a goer.

Hmmm, would that cause it to reboot endlessly for a while? Could be, although I can definitely here power getting somewhere, there is an audible hum when switched on.

EDIT: The HDD also spins up, that's what I can hear, but that's it. :(

I can't mate, the power switch doesn't even cause the fan to start anymore. You can just about hear a mains hum so I *think* there is power but nothing else. No clicking HDD, no internal LED's, no OLED, no picture output...zilch.

I've just had a DM500SE go pop on me and am now considering a VU+ solo as a replacement. Is it a pretty decent replacement?

I see you can attach an external HDD but can you add an internal one?

Presumably, if I bought from our sponsor, it would be an original, is it then possible to simply download and use the Pli image or any other considerations?

My DM800HDSE seems to have gone haywire...it has started rebooting itself constantly.

I zapped to a particular channel (BBC Scotland HD) and there was a click as the fan stopped then the reboot, as soon as it's just about to display a picture...click, and another reboot, and over and over.

Anyone seen anything like this before, I basically can't get anything.

Has a Pli image (has done for ages without incident).

Any ideas?

EDIT: AAAaaargh, I think it's goosed. Now it wont start at all. With the power on, there is a slight hum but nothing else, no lights, not led display, nothing :( :( :(

Just a question, what exactly is the benefit of the permanent timeshift plugin. Over on *ahem* another forum there seems to be a kneejerk reaction to any query about timeshifting which is "install permanent timeshift".

I must be really stupid because I just can't see the point of it...what am I missing?

The only thing that comes to mind mate is the connection...mine needed seated and reseated a couple of times before it worked, but then I've got a clone so the components aren't likely to be quite the same quality.

I switched images mate, went back to Pli. Sorry, I know it's probably not the answer you were looking for.

...anyway, assuming you mean the piconload extension, if you download the latest TSPanel from here (search and ye shall find), you can download it via that. I forget exactly where from, have a play, you'll find it.

Ok, got it sorted. Solution (just in case anyone else has the same issue) was to install the extension 'piconload'....bang! Fixded!

Not entirely sure what it did...if the truth be told, I don't care :)

I've never managed to get a "red button" equivalent working either. My workaround is to create a new bouquet called "football first" (or whatever) and stick in channels 1471 to 1477.

I guess they will change from time to time so you have to keep an eye on things, sorry can't be more help.
