What happens when a Sly channel such as the F1 Channel changes to a new channel number? Will the channel I've stored in my VU+ Duo 2's favourites stop working?

I use Cool TV Guide to view my EPG. I saw on the internet that Sly Sports F1 HD will move to channel number 406 (was 408) from 4th February yet I can still see an EPG for 3rd February and several days later.

So do I actually need to do anything to update my channels?

I have a favourite channel list that I created. Would Autobouquets update my channel numbers in my favourites?

I turned on my VU+ Duo 2 today and I saw a popup that said "Cool Timer Alarm". Then it said the programme "Neighbours" has moved. Please check your timer.

What does that actually mean? The programme still recorded fine off Channel 5 HD and I can still see the EPG for several days in advance on Cool TV Guide for that channel.

Has Channel 5 changed it's channel number?

Enigma can get it's knickers in a twist I have found after it has done loads of recording or watching different types of media from different sources. Sometimes one has to reboot between them. I tend to do a complete shutdown at night unless I want to update my EPG or want to record something but I have found doing a cycle regularly avoids issues similar to the ones you describe.

You may also get around it by simply restarting your EMU or GUI(Enigma) as opposed to a full power cycle.

Thanks. I'm not a fan of doing a complete shutdown as I've no idea if recordings are about to start or not and a recording could be in progress when I want to shutdown.

Do you know for sure that restarting your EMU or GUI(Enigma) will work. How do you do that and I assume that if a recording is in progress then I will lose the bits in the time it takes it to restart?

Do you know if there's any extension that could automatically restart my box once every day when there's nothing recording or nothing due to be recorded within 10 minutes?

I've been recording fine for a week now with no problems but today I noticed that I wasn't getting a picture on any premium channels such as Sly Sports. I turned my box off at the back switch, put the card back in my Sly box and I got a picture on that. I then put the card back in my Duo2, turned it back on and I got a picture again. Is it normal for that to happen? How often does that happen?

Is there any way of preventing that from happening again?

I've got Oscam rev 8639 + CCcam 2.1.3 installed from the LinuxSatSupport addon.

In LAN settings on the receiver I said No to "Use DHCP" because from what I understand that can keep changing the IP address of the receiver which means you need to enter the new IP address via FTP every time you want to connect via FTP.

I was connected via FTP with these settings:

Host: 192.168.0.5 (this matches the IP Address of the receiver)
    Logon Type: Normal
    User: Root
    Password: left this blank

For the past week I could connect via FTP. I've not changed anything and today I can't connect. Please help.

What happens when I'm watching a live channel and 4 timed recordings (all on different transponders) are about to start for other channels? Will it just stop the picture on the channel I'm watching in order to record the 4 other programmes?

Also when I select a programme to record in the EPG which starts after a football match for example and the football match ends half an hour early and thus the progamme I want to record after the football match starts early - what happens? Does the timed recording start half an hour early as well?

If not, is there a plugin that can detect when the programme I want to record, starts early or later and records it correctly?

Thanks but the only option is "Start Cool TV Guide with Red Button". I tried that before and it doesn't actually work. When watching a channel, I press the red button and nothing happens. When I hold it down the "Expand your universe" menu shows.

Is there a plugin that allows me to map things to buttons?

Many thanks to everyone on this forum for your assistance in helping my setup my Duo2. I had some issues with clicking noises in recorded programmes but it turns out they were crappy broadcasts and it wasn't my box causing the problem. I've setup everything to my linking but I have a few minor issues that I'd like to address:

There's an option in Cool TV Guide called "Cool PrimeTime (20:15)" What does it do?

At the moment I need to hold the Blue button then select Cool TV Guide. Is there a way to map the Cool TV Guide to any button such as the red button or preferably the down arrow?

Every time Cool TV Guide starts, it never remembers the last bouquet viewed (a bouquet I created at the top of the Favourites page) so I need to select my bouquet every time. Is there a way to get my bouquet to load by default when Cool TV Guide is started?

What EPG should I configure for use with Cool TV Guide? I know it's OpenTV but what provider - what's the difference between Rytec-Sly and Sly-UK?

Good for you mate...sell your quality e2 box why not...price please as i might be able to find you a buyer that is not Braindead and whom also might be able to actually operate this box!

I can operate the box fine. The problem is that I'm getting clicking noises in the audio of programmes which is no fault of mine. You called me braindead (thanks for the "VIP" treatment!) but I'm not the one responding to old posts. In my last post I clearly said that the VU+ Duo 2 is not the problem, it appears to be a problem with Sly itself.

A Sly engineer came round to my house today and said there's no problem with my Dish or box but he doesn't know what's causing the clicking noises. I've got several tower surge protectors plugged in and a lot of electrical devices in my room. He said one of them may be causing interference on the Sly signal but he doesn't know for sure. He said there's nothing else Sly can do to fix the problem.

The rest of the rooms in my house don't have that clicking noise problem so he said I could try having my box in one of those rooms and running a long HDMI cable into my room. Also he said I should use a infra red remote sender so I could control my box from my room. Can anyone suggest what device to buy to work with my Duo 2?

I tried a known working image of this: Black Hole 2.0.5 Rev A Vu+Duo2 UK Ready Backup By master G.
That had the same audio issues in AC3. The issues I heard in the sample I provided are from the BBC1 HD freeview channel which I don't even need cam software to access as it's freeview. So it looks like this is the normal behaviour of the box - to insert weird sounds in the AC3 audio. So it seems like it can't be fixed so I'm selling my Vu+ Duo 2 and I've gone back to recording with my Hauppage HD PVR.

Thanks everyone for your help though.

I like to have Blurays. It's not my editing software that's the problem. The clip I uploaded was taken from an unedited video on the VU+ Duo 2 which when played on the receiver before I copied it to my PC, it has those audio issues. Surely this can't be normal. I'm assuming you guys never hear clicking noises in your recordings? What settings do you use?
