From what i can gather the clones have a different name like Tigerbox or hd 800S2.They will take the firmware but there is a risk of bricking your box. The firmware from last October seems safe enough for clones though and to be honest any firmware since has added very little, just things like extra languages in the menu. The clones are also a small bit cheaper, but you would only be saving fcuk all anyway. If you stay with reputable dealers you shouldnt have any problems.
Hamborambo, you shouldnt be worried about your box, as you pointed out you have the yellow brown card reader.

I've not had any problems with the march firmware on my original. Let me investigate the other question for you regarding clones and originals. I'm guessing one way to tell would be if they are a bit cheaper and who you buy them from. I've also seen those pics on that other forum. I'll get back to you tomorrow. Time long gone past kids bed time lol

Ive had one nearly a year now. They are a great wee box for the price, great hd picture, runs cline no problem for sly uk or any of the main packages. All updates are done through the usb port with a usb stick. This is also how you load clines and channel lists. Its closed source so you can only use official firmware but there are regular updates.

The only bad points are that the epg is now and next only except where the provider gives more e.g sly ger. Also some channels on slyuk cause rebooting, but if you load one of the channel lists from here those channels have been removed.
I think ive everything covered there, anything else you want to know just ask

How to manually add a TP to your OpenBox (easy)
    2 ways you can start:

    1. Move the dish to the satellite you want to add a TP to.

    -or-

    2. Just go to the tp list and flip thru the satellites. OpenBox will automatically move the dish as you change satellites.

    -----------------------------------------
Either way here is the proceedure when you are on the sat you want to add to.

    1. MENU > INSTALLATION > TP List.

    2. Look and make sure you are on the correct satellite. If not use the < and > arrows to flip thru. If you were already on the satellite it should be the one selected alreadyu.

    3. Press green button to add.

    4. Type in the frequency, then arrow down to symbol rate

    5. type in the symbol rate, arrow down to polarity. Use < or > arrows to change polarity.

    6. Arrow down to save, press OK button

    ----------------------------------------------
    To scan the TP:

    1. Press blue button on remote for Search
    2. Either press ok and it will search, or set the options if you want such as FTA only, TV/Radio and Network search. I just hit the ok button as the defaults are what I want with a manual TP scan.

If its only some channels, i dunno what he did. I suppose go into tp settings and any one with a low signal make sure the frequency is set to universal 9750 - 10600. Thats all i can think of. Try that and see how you get on

Just got the box today and got everything setted up and channels working fine, decided to add a channel list, rebooted and box just stays on reboot loop, cant change channel, cant access menu or anything.

    I need this sorted ASAP.

plug out the sat cable going into the box, then power it up. You should be able to access the menu then. Try loading this channel list then http://linuxsat-shares.com/ope…tes-updated-5-3-11-a.html
