Right on an overcast evening (tonight) finally tweaked the dish and getting following from l23 Liverpool postcode:

I have a spare freesat white sly card, if I use a friends ROI address on the setanta website and put in the card number is it that simple?

ok say i have a user that has left their box on sly sports 1 and then gone out etc, is it possible to cut the user off until the next channel hop after say 3 hours (more than enough for footie match or movie)? just thinking it would be a handy option to keep peers down? running Oscam on debian server.

just received my new dish orbital dish and black inrego LNB to replace cheap ebay 80cm :-) , motor is being kept because seems ok, when fitting the lnb , it has 2 inches at least of movement forward and backwards in holder! , should i start at furthest point ie LNB face closest to holder furthest point from dish or the other way? , objective is to get viasat on 4.8 ands the more difficult feeds and improve quality of signal generally? i am north liverpool if anyone has any experience! with these parts that seem to come recommended?

Ok now all up and running, the only thing i cant do is edit the oscam files through ftp! , webif is a bit iffy as have added users with it yet log file says unknown user / password even when i know they are correct. I can ftp into the server but i get permission denied when i try to edit even if oscam is not running, have changed them all using sudo chmod 755 and the properties are reporting as 755 yet cant save changes! Any suggestions?

New2 I am running oscam server? Ccam 2.1.3 is only client, if 130ms is standard then I need to start loading the card! What is better , 2 cards (multi room card) in 1 server so load balance or split users into 2 groups or 2 servers, was thinking 1 private and 1 shared? Or 2 for load balance including my own share?

Hi new2 thanks for reply, will try the ping tomorrow, why would that affect the internal ECM rate of my local vu+ to the server on an internal LAN (1000mbit) - it was just 2 random 3000ish ecms and a freeze on local network? Can a slow request externally cause a bottleneck? , getting ecms of 130's from another v media user on port 110 which is same as my local LAN now. Is that a pretty standard time? Settings are as per sly uk configs on here

cazuela i wasnt being funny mate so if you took offence i apologise i wasnt having a go but big brother is watching :-) so the more you can disguse the traffic the better. , i have no issues with the setup etc which is fine its just the ecm times , looks like its the usb issue as other posts suggest on here and other sites so i have ordered one for tomoz, will post my findings, then i will send u a line :-)

Port 110 should be fine and not make a difference internally as i dont run a mail server so there is 0 network traffic - i could understand for slower internet ECM's (i work in IT and run large servers etc), the reason for using port 110 is that any traffic 'monitored' by your isp would be difficult to trace on 110 as it would look like email traffic!, use port 10000 and ur isp will get onto it quickly if they want since 99% of people use it for card share???? Someone may correct me on this but u need to cover ur trails!!!

Does the port matter - im using 110? over gigabit lan i was expecting mega fast times (nothing else running) plus i have a 50meg broadband with 5meg upload so the WAN client should have loads of bandwidth!????

Ok so the debian is setup and working with oscam using Newcamd to clients. On my local lan to my VU+ i get 130ish ECMs - is that high?? , last night with 3 clients i suddenly got a couple of ECMs on local lan at 3325ms ish and another client was averaging 235, couldnt see any reason why an increase with only 3 users?

I would like to do some shares to people on here but need to know its going to be stable?

Any suggestions?

Agree with the guys above , i have the same install, get the pole dead square! (this is the key - mine was off originally and caused issues) , setup the motor and dish perfectly in line (square) and fit pointing as close to true south as poss!, setup usals as per instructions and go to satfinder and tune to 0.8W, get a good fix and align dish with satmeter for top signal, once thats done check all the other sats using default transponder! , will take 2-3 hours but trial and error is key!!

Thanks Reilly! i thought as much with 2.1.3 but wanted to be sure, is there a better way or any further advantages - eg putting a reader line in oscam oscam on VU+ as a client or Mgcamd 1.35 with CWS Line?
