    which meter would you recommend?

    - - - Updated - - -

So ok, I can use a sat meter, but my point is that I have the dish aligned to the correct co-ordinates and I don't even get a sniff of a signal on the sat finder tool on my solo 2 box. Surely I would receive some indication? Am i missing something between setting the dish to the correct co-ordinates and using a sat meter?

    Hi all,

I would like to (and have been trying for the last 2 very frustrating days) to install and tune my equipment to 28.2 Sat. As you can probably imagine, I am now beyond frustration and desperately need positive input/advice, as till now all I have achieved is 19.2. Let me give you all some useful info:

I am based in Germany (the settings for the 28.2 Sat from my position are: Azimuth 153 degrees, Elevation 29 degrees and the LNB tilt -16 degrees). I have used an app to locate the Sat and have of course set my dish to these co-ordinates, but to no avail.

The box I am using is a Solo 2. I am unsure what is the best image to flash with, as I would like to use the satfinder feature to aid in my project. I did use a Blackhole image, but was only able to find and tune to 19.2 :(

What have I been doing wrong, or maybe not been doing at all?

Hmm.. As i previously mentioned, i really don't like heights. That's why I am really hoping there is an easier solution for me. I wonder if Santa can switch me a quad LNB tonight whilst he is up there? :59: Please Santa, I won't ask for anything else..lol

Man oh man. I cannot believe how thick I am. So i thought I could just make named folders and save the corresponding programs into the respective location (folder). Went on the HDD interface screen and noticed a SORT button, pressed it and hey Presto! So stupid, I have never noticed this function in the time I have had this unit.... Man oh man :62:

Hmm... The problem with this one is that it borrows a tuner to allow viewing in another room, therefore, if I DID want to view something elsewhere and record on the main box at the same time as viewing another channel, I understand this is not possible. However, certainly a possible solution for the short term. Thanks for the info, it gave me a lead to go and read up on it.

I am leaning towards installing an 8 way LNB. I have a few problems at hand with this however, as i live one flat from the top of the shared building. I have access the apex roof, but if I could get the new LNB on the sat, potentially I might feed 8 cables down the side of the building into the flat. Not sure how unsightly this may be and, there is a sloped ground about 30-35 below where I would have to place ladders and climb up to fix the cables and feed to my flat (totally hate heights). I had a local engineer install the dish for me, they charged me an arm and a leg for it and he did not fix the the cable to the wall due to no safe ladder placement.

Sorry if this sounded more like a rant, but I am quite gutted at the prospect of not being able to do this :(

    Great info.

I was hoping that I could just link them in the short term, until I convince the money holder that the most viable option would be to install a new quad LNB. All this info is surely helping me to achieve that :)

My knowledge has surely been enriched.

Can you recommend a quad LNB?

I was teally trying to avoid asking that question due to the fear that the answer would be as it is.. I guess I had to know.

I think I will try the idea of feeding one box and take a link out to the other.

Has anyone got an idea of what the cost might be for an engineer to fit a 4 way LNB, just a ball park figure? One other thing, I have a diseqc on the sat dish as I recieve 28.2 and 19.2. Would this mean more work required?
