I think you should be able to receive saorview , thats if you have in the past. (even in the testing stage)
Your telly tuner needs to be dvb-t with mpeg4 /h.264 encoding for saorview reception.
A lot of early tv's with digital terrestrial tuners that were sold in Eire had the dvb-t with mpeg2 encoding tuners installed (the powers that be hadn't decided on what standard / didn't make it public knowledge which system they were going to use) which means audio with no picture(thats what i experienced)
Dvb-s/s2 refers to satellite broadcasts and you are right in pointing out that you need a dvb-s2 compliant satellite receiver/tv but only if you are looking to receive saorsat from eutelsat ka sat at 9deg east.(you will also need a ka type lnb)

Yes, got the dish, lnb's, multi lnb bracket johanson disec 4/1 switch and ariva 150 combo for €158 delivered.
Ariva here is € 93 alone so pretty good deal I think.

The satellite dish arrived today although it cost an extra €10 for ups to deliver, claimed over-sized parcel. All in all though i am very pleased with the quality of the dish. Havn't tested reception with the lnb's yet, but i have one inverto black ready to be mounted for comparison on signal quality. The bracket for the elevation is folded back into itself to prevent over-tightening and deforming the dish (gonna stick 4 bolts in it anyway, just in case) and the lnb arm is made from box aluminium with the multi lnb bracket made from galvanized 2mm steel, along with the other brackets.
Will post back with reception quality etc when I get a free afternoon to test it.

Hi all. I'm thinking of setting up a family server (gonna follow thatfellow's tutorial, have a spare pc lying idle) and am looking to share with family and close friends (8 to 12, have to get their input first)
Can anyone recommend ( is there) a good package/packages which will include docu,(disc turbo like channel a must) movies, entertainment, food channels (for the missus, She really fecking needs it)and sport, with english audio, apart from S**.
Have to be able to receive it in southwest Ireland also.
Have been looking at lyngsat but dunno whats in english.

Postage from poland is 21 euro.
Was browsing the site and added an ariva 150 combo to shopping cart to see the final total ( was always considering one for the bedroom) and was very surprised.
Came in at 148 euro in total including delivery.
A difficult price to beat I think.

Usual way to install, but backup, dump your channel list before you flash as a new flash may delete them.

Cross epg works well but you need to have the bouquet organized like *** in order to view it like that, i think.

Nano wrote this for me and it worked perfectly:

"Version 8599 was the newest when i wrote this.

Download a new one to your PC, unzip the folder and then ftp the oscam file over to var/emu and change the permissions (chmod) to 755. Rename file as oscam_8599 or what ever the corresponding version is, i.e OSCam_8600 if you download version 8600.

It should now appear in the emu list."

I've given up on the nbox for saorsat. Just using my ariva for the moment and will be purchasing a new receiver sometime in the near future, but holding off for a while. I think there might be a lot of good ones at great prices if s** kill cs for 28.2.
