how fast is your internet connection and how many peers you talking about? Do you think you have hit your limit yet or are you worried about hitting it? A broadband connection should be more than adequate in most situations.

not sure i would describe it as a cat5/wireless iptv disribution system - but I suppose it is in a way! - you can get a cheap android smart tv device as i have - or even use dlna between the receiver and your dlna enabled tv (not tried that - might have formatting problems) - there are lots of solutions each with advantages and disadvantages - the biggest disadvantage for all solutions unfortunately ££££$$$$$

try formatting it FAT32 - can you also confirm if the drive works on your PC? some images require you to map the drives as well - ensure you have no other drives inserted in to other USB slots when turning on the machine.

you can use partition magic - turn the box off completely, plug in the drive then turn on - this will give more chance that it will map the device correctly, and I think you are slightly getting confused as to what we mean by creating a partition - I don't mean you have to have more than one partition, but if you delete a partition, then you have a disk without a filesystem, (FAT32, NTFS, EXT3 etc) - so without telling the disk how and where to allocate files, the disk cannot be used by the operating system, so you need to create a partition to define this filesystem.

Is your ignore reshare setting set to 0 or 1? - what i mean by this is you are receiving hop 2 cards, and a lot of these won't come with a reshare, as most only allow a reshare for just one further hop. If you are ignoring the reshare level then this isn't good because you will put a load on your peers that you shouldn't.

Another thing about Oscam's CCcam protocol is the way it handles requests for any service that has the same CAID and Ident of your local card. If your card hasn't got the entitlements, then it will find another (virtual) reader that has, and this is regardless of reshare leves. Oscam servers using the CCcam protocol should be controlled by using oscam.services, where by you can restrict requests on your server from each peer, so there are no requests for services on your card that your card cannot clear.

I use the above tool in windows -using the tool try deleting the existing partition if there is one - then create another one - switch off VU+ then plug in drive - reboot and try to initialise again

You get the HD signal but if you are talking about your own sly card clearing the HD channels. you will need to subscribe. Not sure if that is a good idea if your sly box is an SD one, questions may be asked...

can you confirm that you have HDMI selected in the AV settings on your receiver? Also have a look at your TV's settings to see if there is any option to disable or enable sound through your HDMI - sometimes issues like this can be related to the TV rather than the receiver, so you can try adjusting these settings if the exist on your TV.

Going on every support forum and posting a criticism isn't going to get you anywhere - considering lots have and are using these receivers with no problems, not sure if you will dent their reputation much...

As Pheonix said, rather than ranting, it is better to use forums such as this to ask for support, as the manufacturers and vendors won't be able to assist if the problem is software related, which is probably the case with your issue. I wouldn't completely agree with nano about voiding the warranty, as most reputable vendors would honour a warranty if the issue was related to hardware regardless of whether you have flashed it or not, but you should give us the opportunity to try to help you with your problem, because it is because of difficulties people have that have caused forums such as this to spring up in the first place.

You should be able to get quite a bit on Eutelsat 7 West A - / Nilesat 104 - but sometimes you will lose the signal altogether for long periods due to certain atmospheric/solar/weather conditions as well as (so I'm told) due to slight variations in the satellites' position. The strength of certain channels may vary so to get the full set and a steady reception on this then go for about 1.2m dish - also you might occasionally get some of the strongest verticals on 7w Nilesat 101/ 102 if you are very lucky.

To get everything all the time - you need about 2.4 dish i believe for the above satelites, but for Nilesat 201 you will probably need 3 plus metres:waaaht:

I live in the NW England/North Wales area with an 89cm dish, and as I type this I am watching JSC Sports 1 on 7w (not to be confused with JSC Sports +1) without any problems

When you record something, it records the transport stream, so whatever format it is broadcast is what you will record as an exact capture, and it will record all the extra audio streams, subtitles etc. If streams were converted on the fly to a different format to what they are broadcast, then it would take up too much resources. If you wanted to shrink the recordings or change the format then there are tools to do this after you have made the recording.

there is another solution that might work better - 'Remote Channel Stream Converter' have a look in the addon feeds to see if it is there - basically it will give you a virtual bouquet set in the client's bouquet lists - as opposed to you having to go in to a folder and play the created links with the client media player.

Wanting to add to this as i have had the Eaglebox HD mini. I had it for less than 2 months before I sold it. It is right to say that if you have been using an E2 receiver, then you will probably not like this, but again it is priced right now. When I bought it, there was some 'confusion' over the specs of the receiver, such as the fact it was advertised as being able to store 8000 channels, which apparently is the case before you flash it with 'third party' firmware, then it goes down to 4000 (might be 5000 now) - not sure if anyone has proven this as everyone flashes with the latest firmware when they get the box. Also it was advertised as being capable of streaming to it, as well as other suspect claims, which eventually got amended with the excuse that these claims were a 'mistake'. These were the manufacturer specs so in no way were sat-shop or other stockists at fault for this. I had 4 USB hard drives, and out of these, only one would work with this receiver. After posting my findings on a particular forum close to this receiver (you know the one!) - I got sent to coventry, so something was under hand here!!!

Also, the PVR and timeshift functions are very basic and don't work well with HD channels at all. The manual states the limitations of this function, but at the time I purchased the receiver, this wasn't mentioned again in the specs.

As you could imagine I was pretty peeved off that this cost me £85 quid, and i got about 45 on fleabay when i sold it. I think £85 quid reflected what it claimed to be capable of, and £45 quid reflects what it is capable of.

As for the server issue - I had a line from my internal server running to this receiver and yes there were issues, so I would suggest there may well be an issue with that side of things too - but if anyone is using a payserver at all then they will always leave themselves open to the "it is a server issue" comment - and rightly so - cause it often will be.

This receiver is what it is, so long as you know what it is, and although I agree it is worth £45 easily , I disagree that it is the best value. I think it is correctly priced.

I reckon the best value box out there at the moment is the Amiko Alien 2 HD - a steal at £149 from our sponsor.

the Eaglebox - Definitely worth £45 - definitely never was worth £85.

If you do use the Vu+ Duo as a server then a good place to start re images is the ViX - as it has a cam stop check script that works well - and you will find that you will have few issues with this. There are ways to get check scripts on other images - but to save messing around it is probably an idea to start with that.
