I have Ubuntu on a spare internal drive, well away from Win 7, and at POST, key F8 for boot priority. Found this the best way, for myself to run more than one OS.

I completely agree with your comment on windows 8. Yuck! Tried the 90 day free version, not impressed, I have Android on my mobile do not want a PC with android looking software.

Because Ubuntu loads and is faster, (web pages loading, software downloads, images, and plugins etc; ), I was going to use the Ubuntu side of my PC for any/all of the VU+. Keeping things seperate and reliable. Just a thought, not important, might be better to leave well enough alone.

Hi guys, I have installed Ubuntu on my Windows PC. Just a quick question:- (This could be a stupid question), Can I download and install straight to my VU+ Solo2, with the right software setup from within Ubuntu?

I need a bit of help please, or am I doing something wrong??

When playing on demand, or videodevil, I try fast forward, pause, fast backward etc, my vu+ solo2 does fast forward but will not replay or pause I have to start from the beginning every time. This happens all the time. I am yet to try to record, on internal hard disk, but am unsure if my backups will disappear. Any/all help appreciated.

ps, latest vix image installed, tspanel, xbmc, web interface etc.

May I suggest the VU+ Solo2. I bought this VU as I started on the road with Linux, and with all the help and support and software on this site I can highly recommend it. My own personal choice.

Since moving to Linux, VU+ Solo2, the picture on my old Panasonic 42" is a great improvement over terrestial images. Must agree with several other members about the pictures I receive. Have you, cpistola set your HDMI to 1080p ? Just a thought.

I asked a similar question about download limit. Become a proper member, VIP, and then you will find out more about download limits. It was explained to me, " To weed out those members that only take all the help/files", and then are never seen again. It is not you personally, but everybody. Hope this helps.

Many thanks phoenix for the file. This was the only section of Setup I missed, and wondered why I had no epg on channels. Now made a hard copy and put it order, in a file of setup of vu+ solo2.

As my post says, "01-06-13, I think. This file is/was different, or didn't I download 'catseye' ?? As said earlier this is not a go at catseye or anything that he creates, it was a comment from me about some changes and what appealed to me personally. Perhaps I should get to know and use a channel/satellite list editor and edit a list for my own use.

I have used the latest 'catseye settings file' and it was very different to the last file I loaded. Not complaining, but I personaly prefered the layout of my old file. All bouquets at 28.2E were in order, starting at 'All' then down to 'Favourites'. The way it was layed out was easier, for me, to make up different bouquets to my likeing and easier to add and subtractwhat I wanted in the bouquet. Please do not get me wrong. catseye does a fantastic job and makes things easy for all of us to save time scanning and making mistakes. This is a personal like; the way catseye wrote a particular file that time around, 01-06-13, I think?? Many thanks catseye for all the files, and please do not take my comments as personal.

Nope , no versions numbers and no url. It's just me reading about clones and not wanting to get stung. I am re-assured now and will forget the about, HUH! love plugin and carry on enjoying better tv.

I tried to fill in my details into the Plugin; 'Return the Love Event' it asks for the first 2 or 3 letters of the serial number and then the numerals, next line down. I have tried this several times and it only comes up with a 'D' and nothing else. I have sent VUplus.com an email to check if the receiver I have bought is 'pucker' if not the company I bought the receiver from is in the 'S****' to say the least. I am most probably getting too worried as the company I deal with have a lot to lose.

Agreed with the backup, I learnt the hard way a couple of weeks ago, didn't backup and started all over again. The more I get into the workings of my VU+ the better I feel about adding other software. All in all the Misses enjoys a different TV now and that is important, (after the dosh I have spent), and can see where I was coming from when I decided to go the whole hog and buy a Linux Sat Receiver.

Many thanks cazuela for your advice. I am still learning my way around Linux and liking every minute of it. I daresay I will never become expert at it but to enjoy a new hobby and get support for it is much appreciated. Thanks again.

boxgott, I think we are talking at cross porposes? I asked a question," does it matter how many skins I have within the image?? " I was not on about emu/softcams, they all work fine. Many thanks for your input though.

I was going to ask for assistance on dowloading and installing different skins. I know I have been shown/told once how to do it, but that was with a different image. Running Ten Below backup 3.0.683, different menu setup etc: but I like it. Downloaded TSPanel, but could not find it anywhere. Then going to vix etc: installed TSPanel now I am a happy soul :trbtjrjq: One question; does it matter how many skins I have within the image?? Like a change now and again.
