Glad you got it sorted buddy,i will close this thread now.
Found this guide last week and decided to give it a go,works a treat! All credit goes to the original author. The how to guide is attached as a pdf file and the unlocked firmware is also attached as a rar file.
This guide is for unlocking the white Huawei Echolife HG612 fibre modem only.
In the guide step 3 is a little confusing,(well it was to me anyway!!) so this is how to do it.This whole process can only be carried out with a wired connection.
3.Configure the ethernet NIC of your PC with IP address 192.168.1.100.
Ok i used windows 7 to do this but tried it on XP as well and both work the same way.Goto the network & sharing center,in here click on the "change adaptor settings" you should see your network connections (wireless & wired) right click on the wired connection and select "properties" a new window will open,in here you will see a list of different options, click on "Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IP v4) when you have highlighted this option "properties" will be available to click on,click on it and another window will open, there is two tabs "General" & "Alternate Configuration" click on Alternate Configuration then select "user configured" then input the 192.168.1.100. into the ip address section, the subnet mask will fill in automatically, then in the default gateway put in 192.168.1.1 then click "ok"
Make sure you have the ethernet cable connected to the fibre modem during the whole process.
Then you just follow the guide from start to finish.
p.s This is done entirely at your own risk!!!
Ok, here goes
1,Your picons are in the directory usr/share/enigma2 if stored in the flash memory, first mount your usb, then all you need to do is move the "picon" folder to media/usb
Thats it,just restart the gui,no need to tell the box to find them there.
2,To be able to record directly from the epg, when you select a programme from the epg you want to record, select it with the "ok" button this should open a Timer Entry, just check the deatils on it and then press ok (green button). Thats it,it should record it automatically.
I would try the latest ViX image, good epg and very easy to setup & navigate, closest thing to sly there is at the min.
right:
a little moan about sites, no one for 3 days have answered my question, maybe due to lazyness or just could not be helpfull and reply
Hello Knippy,
I think your comment is very unfair to all the members here who give up their free time to help others, did you ever consider that nobody has found the answer yet???
There has been replies to the original post which started this thread,no members are being lazy or just can't be bothered!!!!!
Gald you got it sorted buddy,i will close this thread now.
To force a manual download of the epg, press the blue button, then the red for EPG,in here you will see a list of providers, select the one you want, press ok.Then you press the yellow button to update.
You don't mention which image you are using, would it be worth trying another image or reflashing your Ultimo with the image you have installed now.
I would try everything buddy before you decide to return it,what have you got to lose?? And also is good practice for tweaking understanding how it all works.
Have you tried updating your channel list?? either by doing a full scan with the Ultimo or by using one of the ready made channel lists on the forum. (catseye, sgt flip flop etc)
You dont mention which emulator you are using, but if it is oscam you may find the link below helpful.
Hello ratster23,
Would you mind passing by introductions first please:Forum Gateway - Powered by DnP Firewall
Ok the main difference is that a Dreambox is capable of running a server, the openbox can't.The openbox can be used as a client only, this means that you can add a c line to it to decrypt channels. The Dreambox can do everything you have mentioned already,cline/cccam etc and could be used for C/S.
You can decrypt channels from all or any international packages by buying a subscription for them, but it would cost a lot of money! so you can see where C/S plays a part.
Hope this helps answer some of your questions, make that intro post and i am sure some other members will be able to help you out.
Glad you got it sorted buddy,i will close this thread now.
At the minute i think the only way of doing this is to copy the program you have recorded onto a DVD recorder either directly to disc or onto the internal HDD if it has one.In the sly planner when you select the program that you want to copy it will look for a device that it can record too,as far as i am aware the usb port on the rear is not active on a sly box so having a device connected via a scart lead is the only option at the min.(I think!!!)
Just remember that any of the premium channels (movies etc) that you record will be protected by macrovision,so you can really only play it back from the box it was recorded onto, unless and i have never tried it myself, that when you have it copied over onto a dvd recorder and then go to transfer it to your nas you can get a program to remove the macrovision protection.
Hi buddy,
The next thing you need to do is pass by introductions: Forum Gateway - Powered by DnP Firewall
Now when you say nothing is opening,i take it you mean any channels that you would need a card for won't open for you??? If this is the case they won't open for you unless you start to share your sly card with a peer who has a card for the channels that you wish to view.
Or do you mean that the dish moves but when it has locked onto another sat you just have a black screen in front of you even on FTA channels,if this is the case do you have a channel list installed for a motor setup? and also is your tuner config setup for a motorised dish?
If you want peers to be able to connect to you from outside your home network then you will need to have dydns buddy, when your ip addy changes the dydns updates this information to your peers so that they can still connect.
Unfortunately for now bud yes, i have been trying both 1.7.7 & 1.7.8 on the Ultimo and as you say they do not work very well, especially with the catseye channel list, seems to crash the tuner for some reason.I did have 1.7.7 working for a while with sgt flip flop installed, but found the box stuck in a constant bootloop one morning after being left in standby overnight.I went back to 1.7.6 for now,it would have been intresting to see how the light version compared if it had been released for the Ultimo just to see if it is something to do with the HBBTV,but as previously posted before the Ultimo spec is more than capable of being able to have the full image working.
