For now I can say things are resolved.
Since finding version 11438 for openatv for my H7 on another site in an ipk, I've actually had my first non-afn channels come in.
Kudos to jenseneverest for his help and patience. He walked me through several known solutions but in the end it was all in the version.
The H7 is a popular receiver. I have pondered becoming VIP.
For now though seeing all of the unanswered questions lingering out there. My thoughts are to wait.
I know this is a mainly UK site. I'm in the US and forums for ku band satellite reception on other sites have been a great help.
Questions do get answered or members send PM's for suggestions.
And from what I have learned has made it a joy to help others out in a way that they understand clearly.
Here, some answers to solutions are sometimes quite vague or stagnant. Not a good 'seed' to steer a person to VIP.
Oscam-powervu interests me. Finding out how it works and troubleshooting it is iffy for now. This post has been alive since when?
The wiki for oscam is quite dated. The workings of it are largely undocumented. And the person here who possibly knows the most did not answer a conversation at all or steer me in the right direction with a web link.
So. Why would I wish to become VIP? Please convince me. -

Did you fix your afn dilemma? If not, here is how I do it.

Did you fix your afn dilemma? If not, here is how I do it.
1. Make a copy of your oscam. Rename it oscam-afn and ftp it to usr/bin/.
2. Make a copy of your configuration files including the SoftCam.Key, modify them accordingly (only need afn emu keys) and then put them into another folder such as /usr/oscam/afn/ Include the cacheex example below in your oscam.server file:
cacheex = 1
cacheex_maxhop = 1
cacheex_allow_request = 1
3. Get your oscam.emu from /etc/. Rename it to oscam-afn and change the configuration like this:
emuname = oscam-afn 11438
binname = oscam-afn
startcam = /usr/bin/oscam-afn -c /usr/oscam/afn/
stopcam = killall -9 oscam-afn
ftp it back into /etc/
Restart your zgemma. You will now be able to select which oscam you want to run. Run the normal one for everything except afn and run the oscam-afn for afn channels. You can switch back and forth quickly by pressing "menu" - "OK" - "OK" & select which oscam you want to run, then press the GREEN BUTTON to restart oscam. There is also a way to use hotkeys but I find this way easy enough.
I had problems when I ran both of them at the same time!
Hope this helps........
Actually since I have been running 11438 everything is much more stable.
I'll look over your settings and compare mine.
11438 starts automatically and doesn't require a start and restart until it behaves in the panel.
If you could give me a tip as to why I would want to run more than 1 oscam/ncam that would be cool.
I had issues after installing the ipk that transfers plugins to my hdd. I lost all of the files I had pushed over to the root to install ipk's.....
Lost assess to create new directories, and removed it. Too late. things were screwed up.
Yesterday I flashed a newer stable image of openatv 6.2, updated, rebooted, and installed vuplus-team.com-oscampowervu-arm_OpenAtv-R-11438_all.ipk. Copied my keys folder over. Rebooted again.
After the initial start in the panel, it starts perfectly on every boot by itself.
Now the hunt for more working keys for the western sats from 47.5W to 131W continues! -
I only run one at a time.
You cannot put the necessary cacheex lines, required for afn, into the regular powervu oscam or it won't work. Can only have cacheex in the afn oscam.server file.

...wayyyyy above my head.
as are many things in the configs.wishing there was a place that explained it all in terms i could understand.

I understand. Make sure you do not put the cacheex lines I described into your current oscam.server or you will not be able to open any powervu channels. Use the instructions later on if/when you decide to watch afn.

Randy, this version works out of box to decode pv. No issues at all.
That was my struggle with the previous versions. Jenseneverest was patient enough to guide me through several things to no avail.
I just needed one channel to come in, 11438 was the ticket.
All that is needed now if to figure out how to read logs and what the settings in all of the keys directory mean.
So far it's just pv I have working. Once I discovered how to format the numerics after P 0000 & P00000000, I was getting more channels even with European keys posted here and there.
The files section in the webif will be extremely confusing for a long time.
Thanks!
