  • While having a conversation with ACW41t340u53

We have come across the problem again with certain providers that have the unusual .vod extension.

Now I changed my code to fix this extension and change it to .mp4

I am now being told that these changed extensions do not work but the original .vod did.

So I am little bit confused about the original conversation on TK.
abu baniaz was this .vod problem just an issue with downloaded files. Or was it a problem with playing files.

If its just downloading I can probably adjust that code rather than adjusting the url for playing the stream from the server.

They were downloaded as .vod and therefore not being recognised as being playable by E2.

but if you rename a .mp4 file to .vod they are playable in e2 and perhaps even video not shown in movie planner but go to file commander and now you can see video file but not extension but it does play so perhaps .vod file extension is needed to be added to e2 .

Not just KiddaC problem but we know this is probable just provider error they are not actually .vod file .

Has anyone actually sent sample file to see real format .

  • The problem is some providers want you to use their own app.

So they do weird things like change the extensions of video files. i.e .vod

This isn't a standard video format, and you cant expect openatv or whoever to add in a load of random file extensions so they get picked up in various code. i.e the movie planner.

They look for standard video file extensions.

Obviously though the file on server isn't called foo.mp4 its called foo.vod.
So I gotta change that fix and revert it to how it was originally. Then see if I can change the extension only if the user records, downloads the file.

  • I have actually now done something a little more clever.

As the file is now downloaded I can check the actually first bytes of data and work out the video type rather than just assuming ".vod" is .mp4.
This should work much better for those people who have this weird video extension.

Not that I can test this code, as it seems these lines are quite locked down to an individuals ip address.

KiddaC , I think that is a great addition to xstreamity trying to read actual files type data , I may have expressed my comments earlier when I mentioned you could just change file extension to .mp4 but correct that is not ideal or for openatv or any other teams to just add .vod file type so it can play. :smiling face:

  • How can I change the username and password on an existing playlist that I received earlier (this is necessary after receiving an extension for the next period from the same provider)? This applies to X-Streamity, X-Klass, and Boquet Maker X-Stream.

In Main settings make sure 'SDkip playlist selection screen if only 1 playlist' is set to NO

Select Playlists, highlight the old playlistr and press Yellow for delete

On the playlist selection screen click add new playlist and enter your details - Url, Port, Username, password

Yes delete but then just go and manually change username and password in playlist.txt file as it is not actually deleated but commented out with #

    New files on post 1

Amends to Live preview stopping/playing files.

Corrected the watching icon after zapping on live.

Changed key 1 to toggle watched rather than just remove watched on vod films or series episodes.
