I have now first... flash the self made full backup. And after webinterface was at 100%, i dont reboot box, i go back i try to flash the ssl 89 bootloader.
but it gives me this error:
INVALID IMAGE (YOU NEED A IMAGE WITH AT LEAST 2ND #89)
now i will try the other steps...
Are you sure you have a v2 box ? As SSL89 is only for DM500HDv2...

Because all other v2 Images works on it.
And i have checked the bootloader before Flashing. Its SSL89

Ok, so check to be sure it recognizes it as v2, and does the backup with the ssl v2,

i get when i try to flashing "secondstage-dm500hdv2-89.nfi" from ourdreambox i have download it.
perhaps the file is not ok? i am not sure, but it not works with my box.

i have also try like you said:
make new backup with this: ./backup_original.sh /hdd
But after that doing, the box make new nfi file and all is 100% ok, but after i try to flashing the box, the box is dead after flashing. haha
so i must repair it with dreamup and flash a normal image to make it working. after flashing original dreambox image, box works again.

i have tryed to flash this file too:
openpli-enigma2-8xstar-20230624-dm500hdv2_Original.rar
from the link (ourdreambox) what you send me, after flashing with this box is again, flashed 100% but after starting it dont boot. it stay on the dm500 picture.
so i have tryed now all options 
when i flash openpli-enigma2-12.3-dm500hdv2.nfi, the box booting normal without problems, but only when i flash the original download file.
so there can not be a problem at my side if this file normal works, i think there is some problem in the image, to not allowing making full backups after once installed.

i tried this image too: DM500HDv2 : OpenPLi 8.xStar 20240319 GSt 1.20.5
openpli-enigma2-8xstar-dm500hdv2_Japhar
but same result... with not booting after box flashed. it stay on the dm500 picture and not booting....
5. now i tryed openatv-7.2-dm500hdv2-fhd-20230201.nfi
this image works after flashing, it boots normaly. same like openpli-enigma2-12.3-dm500hdv2.nfi

1) We will check the file when time will be available.
2) We will check it once I have the chance to have such box on my hands to test.
5) Yes, I told you to flash the March 2024 image, and it would work. So it did... but it's definitely not the same image, our image is a compile of the official OpenPLi image (and not one that is remotely having only the name).

hello, today i have time to try it. i flashed the image what you send in the url link. but after flashing the box dont booting. it stay on the dm500 picture.
this is what i can tell, for now the openatv image 7.2 works ok, and works to backup it with the script what you send here.
./backup.sh /hdd
after making a fullbackup of openatv, i try to reflash it, and it works. it boots normaly.
but same procedure i do at openpli 12.3 and it not worked. ;)

12.3 is not real openpli... when we talk about our openpli, it's 8.xStar, not 12.3 which has only the name.

I Also had this problem. I tried to install all the versions on 500dm v2, I know now official openpli never did an image to dm500 v2. Tho they did their image on 500hd (v1)
But now I have openpli 8star on dm900 insted. I feel like openpli and open atv is much better than dream OS. Because only if you change skin, the image Will die and you have to flash a new image. I never understand the enjoyment of unstable image. Better with a stable image like openpli.
Backup Also seems to crash when box crashes, so whats the point?

the 12.3 from 29.07.2023 have same problem like the version what is some months later made... it works but not possible to make full backup without problems, at booting the nfi image.
and the openpli 11.3 dont booting. so its a faulty image.
thats what i can say for now, the only normal image what works and where is possible to make full backup is openatv 7.2
all others not work or not possible to make full backups with them.

Update image via browser but dont restart the box.
Now send the ssl 89 loader via browser again and now restart the box .
check it .if it works
