  • Not that I know.

I only found a Russian language thread at 4pda-to, where they compare hardware

    GTMEDIA GT Combo

    CPU: Amlogic S905X3 Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A53, 18,400 DMIPS

    GPU: ARM Mali-G31 MP2, 850 MHz

    RAM: 2G DDRIII

    ROM: 16G EMMC

    MECOOL K5

    CPU: Amlogic S905X3 Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A55

    GPU: Mail-G31 MP2 GPU

    RAM: 2 GB

    ROM: 16 GB

But I see myself buying one GTCOMBO.

And since I am buying one anyway, I will try to see if I can boot the current kernel ( boot.img/recovery.img ) to a working state , then see if i can "Kexec" to the external SDCard with a custom build enigma2. Just as I do run Debian from Android boot.img/recovery.img on old phones. if I do not get help from GTMEDIA with their official kernel sources then my future plan B will be that. It is just a personal project just to see how far I get.

  • GTCombo does not support Mars

  • this morning I found an old surprise, don't know why but oscam config got reset and brought the "old bug" as gift

thanks for taking care of your customers with such well (not) tested firmware.

  • i found a russian firmware that boots Android 13 and ENIGMA2 with OpenPLI on a box (Mecool K5) that has exactly the same hardware specifications as this GT Combo and the new image file is loaded via USB Burning Tool like it is possible also for GT media combo

question is, would it be possible to flash GT Combo with this firmware without bricking the device?

and in case of bricking, can it be brought back to life using the same USB burning tool but this time with a valid GT Combo image file?

2 The first launch of Enigma2 takes a long time, subsequent launches are fine

    3. Oscam is configured via the web interface http://ip:8888 , for Neutrino and Enigma2 the address is the same, but each has its own configs

    4. Exit from Neutrino and Enigma2 is done using the DEL

button 5. For full operation of Magisk, launch the application and follow the instructions

    6. Install updates for GAPPS via Google Play

  • nice find man24

I simply do not have the time to try this, but it should work in theory. Will try next or when i next get a chance. If anyone tries before please report back

looks like we are out of luck, it's not even worth a try, check out the replies from Vitalik at the end and a user who said this:

"GTmedia, not have same dvb decoder of k5, and for what I know there are no open sources/driver for gtmedia to port something (TV side). Also, you have misunderstood about mars firmware... its not compatible for gtcombo, mars firmware are only for gtmedia trash decoders with no android, like v8 UHD, v9prime, etc. Mars firmware is a buggy firmware, its slow and often it freezes. About gtcombo, it's another piece of trash, in every firmware updates, the problems increase instead to fix something. In the last firmware, with some oscam config. it freeze... in most channels, there are desync audio-video or video frame jumping random."

"For GTmedia Combo there are no sources of dvb drivers in the public domain, I have this set-top box, as soon as the sources appear, I will compile the firmware for it."

  • GTMedia

Thanks for the new v28 software.

    We need such useless firmware.

    Here’s the set of bugs

    - oscam still crashing, we reported many time, not sure why it’s so difficult to fix. Maybe too busy developing useless products or even better more remunerative alternative software..aka mars?

    - abertis t2mi channels not working

    - tivusat mediaset and sky channels with audio out of sync

    - mute button not always working (already reported)

    - this firmware is slower than v27. Menus are lagging, menus navigation is not smooth

  • in www . freesat . com there was a comment of unofficial firmware with a "T". But never saw until now.

    Now the question is:

Where this firmware comes from? Who build it?

A link to originator site will be nice.

Do they have Open sources for the kernel?

  • T is test

    L is for logs

    No letter is official firmware

Gtmedia used to give test firmwares to some people to test it and report bugs. They were very proactive to fix bug, now it’s not happening anymore.

    No kernel sources

  • Your answer does not convince me. Sorry. Why?

Because freesat clearly caution people not to download and used that "T".

Why would they do not want users to use "T" if they build it and was the answer for all problems!!

    Something do not add up....

    As a note:

The comment I am mentioning was posted at "GTCOMBO Firmware Version" for V24 & V27.

Now for V28 reads more nicely:

    Quote

    3. The software version with T is not the official version,
It's an experience version for enthusiasts. Does not support OTA upgrade, need USB to download ZIP package to upgrade

  • GTMedia I guess are working a little. What they do wrong is not having a permanent voice at freesat. That provocate some users to feel ignored.

    A recent purchase came 2GB RAM 32GB EMMC ( 28 GB available ).

I think I saw the originals with 1GB RAM 16GB EMMC.

Now for the price, and sensitive tuner I am personally happy wit the receiver. Is like half the price of other receivers, so what you want or expect.

Some of the complains have no real foundation. Like complains on turning on when powered. Guess what? That has nothing to do with GTMEDIA, Turning up on powered, is AMLogic way to go into bootloading/recovery. You can NOT change that.

I personally have a complain on another receiver V9prime. In particular, special services M A R s global 7 0 W west SA beam. I got it working only 3 days of the last 18 days.
