Posting here just in case it is needed by others assisting.
He says that his hardware is setup as pictured. He has a Sky 28.2 dish as well as the motorised one. The motorised one has a two port LNB.
The dish was aligned by someone else.
The following positions were programmed on the Vbox
39 east___Position 1
23.5 east___Position 2
19.2 east___Position 3
16 east___Position 4
13 east___Position 5
9 east___Position 6
4.8 east___Position 7
1.9 east___Position 8
0.8 west___Position 9
30 west___Position 10

yes that is right

Well there is nothing wrong with that hardware setup from what i can tell.
I would call that a fairly typical setup.......back to tuner setup....
-
Only makes sense. Wherever the dish needs to be steered, the signal has to come from I on slot C.
I may be wrong.
Is tuner port I a push on or F type screw on connector?
"Someone else" programmed the v box. Okay.
So if you tune to 39 E do you get transponders from it?
Do you need to steer it E-W any or is the signal peaked?
How about 23.5 E?
And so on.
You do realize that any E-W position tweaks made with the remote control or panel buttons to peak signal on a chosen satellite will have to be stored again in that memory slot. -

(he is missing a load of others - the weaker ones but thats a whole other story)
Anyways from what i understand, he is unable to get his STB to automatically move to his desired position by simply selecting a channel on whatever sat.
And is instead using the vbox directly to drive to sat positions .....IE the disquet command is not working with his current tuner setup.

Understood. But the question is. Is he steering the dish from tuner port I and receiving tp's from it also?
I think I saw a 'same as' setting.
In other words. Are the DISEqC go-to commands to the v box always coming from tuner port I only.
There is another lnbf on that dish. If he expects the dish to move using port J.
I don't believe port I will send the data string. Port J won't mimic what go-to has to be sent through port I.
But again. What do I know?
Does it work that way with a usals motor? -

What you say is correct, the fixed dish we can ignore for now.
Tuner i should send the diseqc command as that is connected to the vbox
Tuner J should just be a slave to tuner i - a 2nd motorised tuner.
He should also have a setting for tuner priority that would need looking at.

This is the current tuner hardware

When you add the second FBC tuner card, this will be the hardware.
You will then need to re-set your tuners. This can be easily done by editing the settings file, otherwise use the remote.
Please do NOT alter anything on the vbox positioner as you might mess up the saved positions.

Thanks that helps with those new to the boxes.
But IMO it is confusing as f*#k

VU should have kept it simple and labelled it slot 1, 2, 3.
IMO e2 also gets it wrong.....the single/double tuner slot (aka "Tuner C") should always be labelled as Q and/or R and not changeable to I and/or J if using the middle slot.
For example with my STB:
i have a twin FBC tuner in tuner slot A (but normally have disabled it within the tuner configs.)
I have nothing in tuner slot B
I have a twin tuner in tuner slot C which is in use, and those come up as tuner I and J - just as you have pictured.
-
why is this not simple i have a dish pointed at 28 east and a dish pointed at 39 east the 1 eter dish is motorised from 23 east to 30 west i have done it this way because i cant get round to 39 east He should also have a setting for tuner priority that would need looking at. what do u mean
-
Have you received and installed the extra tuner and dish yet?
If the motorised dish cannot revive 39east, deconfigure 39e on the tuner connected to the motorised dish. That way it will only use the fixed dish, there is no need for priority setting changes. In any case, the default settings mean that the fixed dish will be used before the motorised one

Agreed about identifying the tuner slots. This is nothing new, it affected old/ original/ non-4K Ultimo and Duo 2, so you 'd think they would have learned.
Not so sure about the tuner letters. It is always incremental, just like the person who had the loose tuner card in his Zgemma. Also, what about someone using the MTSIF Terrestrial tuners? They are only two tuners. So starting slot B from "I" could confuse issues more. And even then what would happen to USB tuners? Always start at "S"?
BTW, there is no such thing as single FBC, it is always a block of 8 tuners for satellite and cable, two with physical connections. Also, It would be better to use the FBC tuner instead of the legacy satellite tuner.

yup like you say it is an old problem, VU themselves have all but disappeared anyways so not likely to see any change there anytime soon.

i dont no what u mean at all could explain u have lost me
