Help Correctly Aligning My 1.2M Channel Master Dish and moteck H-H180 motor

its hard to gauge just from the pics, you would need to measure to see if the bolt holes from the dish face fall inline / outside of the mounts holes.

If not then some wider angle iron (say 50mm x 50mm x 2mm thick) would give you more freedom on the where to drill the holes for the bolts, allowing you to make it wider / narrower as required. Try to get it as central as possible.

ok thanks just doesnt make sense why i would need that as the brackets that came with it should work with it, but i will get the iron bar to test it first hopefully it will work, also it cant be to long otherwise it will effect the movement of the dish up and down

Could it work like you have it ? Yes if you get all your angles correct.

You have to remember your dealing with a lot of angles here:

Dish offset, elevation, DE inclination, etc etc

As i said earlier, even if you had no scales to work to it could still be done with angle finders / gauges and lots of maths.

(as it stands with your current bracket - one of the adjustment you have has no scale and is variable)

As you can see the way the dish mounts you have taken on a big job fitting a motorised dish.

You could do with some items like a sat finder a cheap inclinometer you will find it hard without some tools.

thanks, i do have a xfinder3 (sat finder) so i can use that, also by using my ring doorbell pointing at my monitor while im outside i can see when the signal goes up on my octagon sf8008 :)

Looks like it is attached to a channel master dish face.....

So i am now thinking those brackets that Dan has are going to work (perhaps they are even required due to an offset dish - perhaps not required with prime focus ??)

What is certain is he is going to need an inclinometer and angle finder.

hey guys so i have just been back outside and reattached and ajusted everything (see pics what its like now) but still no signal) :(

@jenseneverest just downloaded from elsewhere, nice pics but how does that help me? so your saying to measure the front of the dish face to see where its pointing to? as i dont have those items you have...

as far as i can tell this is all correct but no signal on 0.8w or any other sats?

what did i miss? only thing i could imagine is wrong maybe the Clinometer?? but i dont no what number to move it to??

i dont have a Clinometer device for precise angles, but there is one attached to the motor anyways, maybe thats what i need, but im am using "enigma signal meter- sat finder" installed on my phone which is connected to my ocagon sf8008 via wifi, so i can see when the signal goes up and down

What i have done in the past is take a small tv and STB out side and set the dish up but as its winter i would not do it.

@geowhitt it will thats the one that came with this dish, but the lnb thats now attached to this dish can capture lower feeds hence why i changed it over, i cant do that either due to the motor control cable running from my vbox in my bedroom, up through the loft and out into the garden and into the motor...

Its hard to read your scales off the pics you posted, but to me it looks like your elevation is currently set at 70 degrees and deinclination at 7 ??

PLUS then you still have the adjustment with no scale - (The dish face to motor mount bracket is also adjustable....)

Have you got an angle finder like in the pics i posted above? ...... to at least get the dish face round abouts the right angle ?

Then you still need to move the entire dish/mount on its pole east and west until you get signal

Every time you move things and are trying to check for signal, zap to a channel again with your e2 box.

Dont expect to do this quickly, your basically looking for a needle in a hay stack until your get signal from something...

what do you mean? "The dish face to motor mount bracket is also adjustable" i cant adjust it for some reason :(, no i dont have a angle finder like the ones u posted pics of, what do you mean "Then you still need to move the entire dish/mount on its pole east and west until you get signal" < i can only move ir east and west via my octagon sf8008,

so this is 6 degrees on the deinclination (line i drew) (just so i know)

which elevation? where i drew red line or green line (just so i know)

and it wont allow me to move this down anymore than it already is:

what about this scale? because when i move the motor arms forward and back that moves aswell its known as Clinometer

as you can see it only goes from 0-90 degrees but i need to set it to "38 degrees" so how can i set it to 38?? it moves the motor back and forwards when i adjust it like that

you can see why im struggling here cant you??

2. setup dish elevation / deinclination.

3. Check dish face is roughly the right angle as above.

4. motor should be moved to 0.8w (or if the vbox is not setup yet use 0.8w as your starting point - save it as 0.8w that is about the zero point in the middle of east / west)

5. loosen the mount clamps for the entire motor/dish mount on your pole so you can move the dish left or right to find signal.

If still no signal adjust the dish face SLIGHTLY to either get move / or less angle on its face - then move the the entire mount left/ right again looking for signal

Repeat the above process several times until you get signal.....moving only slightly each time, and zapping to a channel each time you change things.
