Prepare your Dreambox to support GPT with Dream-gpt.sh

Important before you prepare your DreamBox for GPT, you should create a Rescue SD Card and an Emergency SD Card with the Dumbo Script from the Boxpiraten Forum.
because it can happen that after the update 1.12G even if everything is correct that the Rescue loader does not start, the reason I do not know, but that is not bad as long as you have a Rescue SD Card or the image which is on the box still starts.

You have a rescue SD card or a second Dreambox ONE or Two to create the SD card later.
    Lets start :

    For Update Your Dream ONE/TWO
Prepare Update to latest openATV 7.3 check Image is Running
    Download Putty

Connect with putty to your dreambox run the script.

    wget -O /tmp/dream-gpt.sh "http://source.mynonpublic.com/dream-gpt.sh" && chmod 777 /tmp/dream-gpt.sh && /tmp/dream-gpt.sh

Follow the instructions and update your FrontPanel, U-boot and Rescureloader if necessary.if there are errors after an update, start the script again, otherwise restart the box once and then run the script again.

Now Your Box is ready for GPT.

If you already have BL111 ... you can make a Rescue SD from BL WebIF.

  • gpt is the easiest and hassle-free installation.

    1. Install gutemine feed plugin on any 2.6 image.

    2. When the plugin is installed, there is a rescue loader at the bottom. The latest version is 14. Install it. If it says installed, it is OK.

    3. Then put the device into recovery mode via device power or image. You will see that loader 14 has been loaded.

    4. There is everything necessary regarding GPT. Make as many partitions as you want. You can install a 2.0 or 2.6 image in each partition, including 0, such as 0.1.2.3.4.

    6. There are necessary sections for return in the loader.

    give the commands in order

    echo "deb [trusted=yes] https://repo.fury.io/gm3/ ./" > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/gutemine.list

    apt-get update

    apt-get install enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-gutemine

You can also delete the image you uploaded to gutemine feed by adding a new image to that section or using the delete command.

    # gutemine plugin full remove:

    apt-get update && apt-get autoremove -y enigma2-plugin-systemplugins-gutemine

    # BluePanel / Addon-Manager gutemine and SvenH Filterlist remove:

    rm /etc/enigma2/AddonFilterlist_gutemine.json

    rm /etc/enigma2/AddonFilterlist_SvenH.json

    rm /etc/enigma2/AddonFilterlistuser.json

    #restart box or reboot

  • @Aliraza63

You wrote in the boxpirates forum that you have poor knowledge. This is in contrast to your opening post.

Who do you think should give support for GPT or gutemine's escapades here?

My honest advice is to stop this thread as it will cause a lot of dead boxes.
Keep away from this and gutemine's stuff unless you are a pro dev and even they have their problems understanding his stuff.

If you're still willing to take risk, you should ask in boxpirates board, but even there you won't get any support from gutemine..just autistic chatter.

  • I agree with every word you say. I gave it only for informational purposes. Box owners should act with awareness of this.

This transaction is neither my nor your responsibility.

If you don't know, definitely stay away.

I have no experience with Multiboot/GPT etc... the post above should give you a solution,

  • This discussion is bullshit
Who has the GPT has first to go to Legacy Mode to have old Partition table again
You all think you are experts but with this comments you are noobs and beginner and destroy Dreamboxes of other which had cost a lot of money

  • What are you talking about? The man writes that he has LEGACY. You read first, then write!!!

  • I don't understand why people want to use GPT Multiboot when it's not safe. Now you have a great virus on it, unfortunately everyone would go back now, but it's hard for those who messed up everything during the installation. I also have a problem with my dreambox two that I can't install it via the website, but I never wanted to try to install it via GPT Multiboot. I inserted it nicely via USB on Open TV 7.3 and I have the German image and everything works as it should. Why insert all sorts of things when it's not really necessary, but everyone has their own thing to install, but unfortunately after big problems like GPT Multiboot.

    You are the profi
we other who warns you are all amateurs
So if he brick his Dreambox you should buy him a new one because consider only bullshit

  • Your stupidity makes me laugh. And I'm sorry you don't get it. Read his post and my response again and prove to everyone that I'm stupid and you're smart.

And I'll prove to you otherwise. Although I have already proved it - I highlighted his statement in red. He has RL 117, but no GPT. And the solution in this case is my link. And GPT requires an SD card (emergency repair sd-card). But I don't know GPT and I wouldn't be of any help.

Now give your ,,smart” answer to his post. Don't philosophize, but give a specific answer to his message. If you respond with nonsense rather than a specific answer to his question - then who are you? Let Zozman write his answer to his problem too.

  • I don’t understand all the fuss here.

I would recommend that everyone pause their actions for now and wait to see if there’s actually a “time bomb” in the GM bootloader.

This hasn’t been directly confirmed—just expressed in the usual vague GM manner.

So, I’d advise against taking any hasty actions for the time being. At the start of 2025,

we can assess the situation and determine if any measures are necessary—if at all.

    Whether you use MBR or GPT partitioning doesn’t matter for normal operations;

it has no impact on the device's general functionality. However, GPT expands the capabilities of the device,

though not everyone might need these enhancements.

If you decide to switch to GPT, you should stick with it—the advantages of GPT are undeniable,

and as mentioned, it enhances the value of your device.

Even if a box no longer boots from the internal eMMC, there’s still a recovery option,

thanks to GM sharing this information via Dream. The claim that a "bricked" box becomes useless electronic waste isn’t entirely true.

There are users with boxes that have defective eMMC but have been running Dream OS from an SD card for a long time.

The key takeaway here is not to spread panic or share untested update instructions publicly.

Many users only read half the lines and understand even less. This can lead to unnecessary confusion and days of troubleshooting for some.

In this spirit, stay calm and level-headed. Let the year come to an end, and then we’ll see what comes next.
