  • after powering on the Zgemma with Xbox Tuner connected:

    • make system restart (reboot)
    • unplug and replug the Xbox Tuner
    • restart enigma
    • turn on the Xbox Tuner in the settings

After trying above steps meticulously for the second time, now Xbox Tuner is visible and possible to search channels on DVB-C. However, after Power off-on of the box I am at the first stage of above steps. At this point a solution has been given on post #31 when I tried it via WinSCP by creating xbox.conf and modifying rcS.local by adding mentioned lines at the end of the file then after power off-on i'm stuck at boot logo and have to move to recovery menu.

Following is the content of rcS.local file that I add the lines mentioned but result is image not giving green boot light and being stuck on red boot.

Why have you got all the other drivers installed? After flashing new image, you were meant to say no to auto restore.

You will be better off posting on PLi forum so a more robust solution is found. Playing hard to get with information will not help the cause.

You are meant to install drivers and then reboot box. Ideally the device should be connected when the Linux OS boots up.

  • I recommend... but you saved an old software on the PC, I normally save all the folders on the PC in one (soft-backup-complete) so that if there are things that don't work, sometimes you just need to replace the driver folders and restart... important that it does not change the kernel.

It seems you haven’t read all the thread!

I haven’t done any auto restore! Tbh I don’t even know what is that!

I was just following what @jenseneverest

was advising me to do which was as followed,

He wanted to see if I have all the needed firmwares which I provided list of them at every stage.

I did post on PLi forum, specifically on PLi 9.0 release thread where others asked questions, no one there responded tho!

Please tell me what information you need and how i can obtain it, I don’t understand how im playing hard to get?!

Please don’t state the obvious! Honestly, you’re suggesting that I have installed drivers and not booted the box or disconnected the tuner!?

You’re talking as if I’ve just learned about E2!?

This Xbox tuner have been around for years and running error and hassle free on Oatv for years, but since PLi has a better CI+ functionality I had to try it and after searching and searching it seems this tuner has not had proper solution on this image.

If you have an advice please provide. I’ve read many posts on PLi forum abandoned from years ago that no one has touched there.

Im thankful of advices I received so far here.

You have declined to provide the installation log or dmesg log. Default for PLi is to apply the restore after it reboots following a flash, you have to say no if you do not want to re-install what you had previously installed. Probably why you have extra drivers than what you installed last. I attach my install logs should you wish to compare.

Good luck in your quest. I hope you find a working solution. Be at peace, there will be no further interference in this thread from me

Firstly, I haven’t declined to provide anything! You clearly give me the command for a specific stage, as jenseneverest has done, I’ll provide.

Secondly, when I flash a slot on my box via recovery menu using online flash after booting up I decline any possible restore and I did install all firmwares on the advice of jenseneverest

Finally, problem is that how come on Oatv two drivers needed for this xbox tuner are accessible on the feed and after a reboot tuner is up and running but on PLi have to jump through many hoops to just activate the tuner temporarily! Any solution for this?

Sorry i may have unwittingly sent you down many and / or wrong paths with this.

I added abu baniaz to this thread, as he was the one who helped me get this working years ago when cable was still a thing in the UK - not just for pli but all images.

Don't compare PLI to any other image, they always have done things differently.
Start with a fresh image, don't restore any setting or plugins of any sort. All you want is a bare basic image.

Install only what abu recommends from post 17

    opkg install firmware-mn8847x
    opkg install kernel-module-mn88472
    opkg install firmware-dvb-demod-mn88472-02
    opkg install kernel-module-tda18250
    opkg install firmware-dvb-usb-dib0700-1.20
    opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-dib0700

Ensure usb stick is in blue usb port, reboot STB

Then we want a demesg log from boot up, see here for detail:

Problems and Solutions - OpenPLi Wiki

If it still fails then we will look at the attempted "fix" like you posted HERE

But honestly, that is a hack you should not have to be doing......

  • I understand your intentions but he didn't really contribute here which should be by providing step-by-step instructions rather than throwing accusations around.

I have to point out again that my box is H9 Twin (first version) which has Two USB ports (rear/front) both full power. There's no ''Blue USB''.

So far my experience has been exactly as described in post 30 when managing to run the Xbox after many restarts then there's the question of stability which has been suggested in following post although it has not worked for me, most likely due to difference in device?

I would shortly create a basic image without any addition then run lines you have posted above, for comparison I'll post firmware logs of before and after of running those lines, then perform a reboot STB. What should happen ideally afterward?

About debugging, what is the sequence of events? At what point do i activate it by restarting enigma in debug mode? before/after running those lines?

Install all your drivers, reboot and then activate the debug logs, and restart in debug mode.

The idea is to see how and when the drivers load up, to make sure that the usb hardware is loaded to kernel.

Ultimately if there is an issue there, then the air digital guys should fix the drivers for your hardware..... and abu will be able to help with that.

If it is the case, as suggested by the guy with a work around fix on the Pli forum that the drivers are not loading correctly, then really that should be fixed by the manufacturer ...... i know that is likely to take time, ultimately while you wait for that to happen there is no harm in trying to hack out a fix yourself.

    Sorry for the delay.

So, I did a new flash with no additions, here's the list of firmwares on the box after flashing,

    Code
    root@h9combo:~# ls -l /lib/firmware
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13576 Jul 31 2023 carl9170-1.fw
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 72684 Jul 31 2023 htc_7010.fw
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 50980 Jul 31 2023 htc_9271.fw
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 45412 Jul 31 2023 mt7601u.bin
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8192 Jul 31 2023 rt2870.bin
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2048 Jul 31 2023 rt73.bin

    drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Jul 31 2023 zd1211

Here's the list of firmwares after running your lines.

Afterward I rebooted the box then activated the debug mode. Attached are the dmesg.logand enigma.20240507.debuglog

  • I don't use OpenPLI but now unplug and plug usb card, after this (and restart GUI) xbox should be works (so long, how long you don't make full reboot of STB).

Other solution: totaly turn off power (rear button) and turn on a power...

Problem is only on Zgemma's, I have many others stb's and don't have any problem with initialize xbox one dvbt2 card. Is some problem with initializing USB/SD on zgemma's after reboot. A few years ago i create SD multiboot (like on Octagon SF8008 or Ustym 4k) and after reboot my H9 Twin stucks... After turn off power starts from SD card and works...

Marty2000 Thanks, and No probs, there is no rush with this :beer1:

    From your dmesg..........

    Code
dvb-usb: found a 'Microsoft Xbox One Digital TV Tuner' in warm state.
dvb-usb: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer.
dvb-usb: Microsoft Xbox One Digital TV Tuner error while loading driver (-12)

Going from the posts above, it looks like it is repeatable for many zgemma users..... and it looks like the drivers are not loading at the correct time.

Dose a full power off and on with the power switch make the tuner useable ?

  • I guess if I describe how Xbox tuner is running on Oatv would give everyone an idea what’s missing on PLi.

On OpenATV it’s like that when tuner is plugged in and any kind of restart is performed (GUI/reboot) there’s no initialisation of the tuner, ie no Tuner C is added to the list of tuners. As soon as power-off/on is performed (power cycle) then tuner becomes available in active mode with previous settings intact.

On PLi however the only time tuner becomes available is by plugging out-in tuner’s USB cable + performing an enigma restart. But if doing power-off/on then tuner is lost again and have to do previous steps to bring it back at a visible level in tuner menu but still as Disabled! Which needs to be set manually.

Basically there’s no point to set xbox tuner up since any power cycle of the box will renders it useless, specially if one access their box remotely.
