Yes this is the exact method . he should fallow this procedure .
From previous posts, I think , its just DB9 connectors on both end, So, RJ12 on one end and DB9 on Box side.

Obviously not . NFI file was used in old mips boxes . Not for solo2 . duo2 and other boxes released after that.
First of all we must need putty logs. which will clear the actual problem /issue. I cant blindly suggest it what to do here . Suppose it has crashed boot loader . Than there is another way to update it via hyper terminal .
But if the flash is corrupted . Than needs Broadcom studio but it will not work without cypress boards .

Depends how u see it . Obviously DB9 can also work. If u have this cable supplied with box in some models because it has different connection . Johnny has clearly mentioned and draw the pics in his post.

There is no supplied cable, only old RS232 , which I used few time with my old DM800, I think called Null modem

I don't see this cable in my store may be misplaced some where if I find I will share its picture .
Through google search I have found I had shared its connection diagram in my friend Johnny's post . I share pic here if u can make it ur self . Its not that kind difficult.
-
Attention, there is 2 cables, the Null cable should be ok for logging with Putty the normal "enigma2/linux" log...
The "special cable" that is wired differently, as jb8a8f8/8a8f8/etc is in fact a cable for the CLONES VU+ Solo/Solo2/Duo... these are connecting a specific pin to have the log and access to the clone security chip.

I have a Sunray Vu+ Solo2 with Sunray hologram on backpanel and bricked with OpenPli 9 original image.
Tried to recover with all the methods i found here, jtag , rs232 and the box is not responding (only the power led is on).
Someone has a full-flash bin backup/dump from the Samsung K9F2G08U0C chip that i can flash the chip with an Universal Programmer TSOP-48 NAND Flash?
