  • hi

i only use 2 ways for installing images

    1 dreambox loader

2 flash online from an image.

OAT 7.6 does not load up it's stuck on boot and the strange thing aswell if i flash an old OAT 5.0 OR 6.2 from old back ups they load up fine

may be i ll wait for future releases and hope for the best

    :cool1:

  • i have the pure2 in the box

and i can't see these conflicting files when i navigate

    thanks

no you will not see those files you have booted into pure you need to be booting into openatv 7.6 the one you are having bother with. is this a multiboot system ?

And if you can boot openatv earlier version why not flashonline openatv7.6 via that but make sure you do not flash a backup that is not working just flash new image.

    Capture.PNG

Youve got me lost when flashing openatv try the latest backup you have if 6.3 use that not 6.0 and if it is still coming up with same error then it is not clean flash , nothing is going to come up you need to sort this yourself . if it was problem with 7.6 there would be lots of members on here with same problem.

I don't know what last openatv is you have but depending what is available from flash online but if it is still that same error then is is not clean flash .

  • So, two topics that could help you.

    1. Flashing online is not the same like flashing from a clean local file.

    2. If you see 7.6 other thanthe installed image it means that the loader is not updated, and possibly this could be the problem.

First, try to download the 7.6 file from the openatv web site and upload it from the DM900 recovery page. Again, remember to uncheck all items before starting the upload process.

If it does not work, go back to the DM900 recovery page, make an online recovery so the original DM image would be installed. Then boot the box, you will see the original firmware. Then, back to the recovery page and try again to install the 7.6 from the local file, again after all possible backup items was unchecked.

    Please report your result.

  • hi

the boot loader in my box is #103 .

    Code
    wget http://dreamboxupdate.com/opendreambox/2.5/stable/images/dm900/zImage-rescue-3.14-r0-dm900-20200715.bin

when i put the above command to update it it's still shows 103 after update the only different is the pic of the ship on firmware.

can any one send the latest update firmware for the loader dreambox dm900

    thanks

  • there is thread on the subject rescue-loader-update-help-for-dm-900

  • Why do you want to update from the command line?

Go into the Rescue mode pressing the front panel "touch" key while powering up. When in the Rescue web page you have the chance to recover online. So, download that original image and leave the decoder to complete the installation and reboot.

This is an original OE2.5 image.

After that, you probably will see a different loader during the boot process (I mean the image loader, not the main loader of the receiver).

Once the original image is installed and you are able to play with it (and the image loader is changed), go back to the Rescue mode and try to install the Openatv 7.6 from there. Don't forget to uncheck every backup items in that screen.

Make this test and let us know.

  • hi

    satmeter

i did that to the letter

1.power off the back and thouch the front till rescue mode pops up

2.did a recovery online ( up to now original image installed )

3.back to rescue mode to install OAT7.6 from file on pc ending with bz2 untick the 2 boxes below for not save the old settings....

4.loader says image loaded succesfully by the box doen't boot up and stuck with blue screen error as posted before.

if i flash a pure2 image it's absolutely fine box reboot normally.

that's why i am baffled with it it's only happen with open atv7.6 in my case any other image is fine.

    thanks

    • Official Post

I have a dm900 and had some lockup issues. I ended up formatting the "data" partition in order to get the receiver to work. I used the following command as posted by Captain

    Code
    umount /dev/mmcblk0p3
    mkfs.ext4 -F -L data /dev/mmcblk0p3

I had previously also flashed the recovery image in the recovery thread posted above. I have not had to do it since then,

I have just flashed the openATV 7.6 image a few minutes ago. it booted fine for me. I did things slightly different to your instructions/process.

    Boot into recovery mode

Flash the rootfs.tar.bz2image image using the "firmware upload" tab

After it completes, click on reboot.

I dont have any restore files, so it did not "fast restore" for me. Are you sure it's not crashing after the restore? Maybe you can upload your log for the flashing process? It may show what the problem could be. It should't result in a blue screen from the recovery page.

  • I also thought that OATV could retrieve previous settings, looking for them when the initial settings phase begins, even if the checks were removed from the settings boxes before the image was uploaded. Those are definitely chosen for DreamOS. A previous post reported that OATV saves settings in /media/hdd/backup. Maybe it could do that in /data/backup as well. Before the flash, I would suggest checking whether there is an openatv or similar folder in such locations and possibly deleting them.

those settings are restored after flash

  • If the OATV at any stage after the flash goes back to previous settings, even without the tick, it could be the cause of the error. abu baniaz had to format the /data partition, if I understood correctly, to resolve it. Then it costs nothing to do the verification I have indicated.

  • thanks for everyone for the help

at the end i managed to sort it out thanks to ABU suggestion

    Code
    mkfs.ext4 -F -L data /dev/mmcblk0p3

i put the above command to telnet and did it things and then flashed online straight from pure2 to openatv7.6 and BINGO all good

i am glad it sorted i was getting my hammer to tweek the box as a last resort :beaming face with smiling eyes: :beaming face with smiling eyes: LOL

all good lads thanks for your help
