  • Hi all,

    Does anyone know how many users a PI can handle at once? I have slowly been upping the number of users on my server. It is now at 14 and I am noticing that every so often the picture will freeze for a few seconds and then come back (maybe a couple of times an hour - maybe more) - almost like glitching but the ECM times don't rise. This is on my internal network too. I am thinking that maybe the RPi is being overloaded or maybe even my card is being overloaded? Not sure but it's beginning to bug me. I have tried a fresh install with latest OScam but no difference. Anyone experience similar?

  • Hi to all,

    after 6 months , i can tell that this is working very nicely. I'm using 8 users and there are no freezes...almost never.
    I manage to not reboot my raspberry from first day, its hook up with small ups and now is running without restart for more than 6 months.
    I read last post, that after connecting 14 or more users it starts to freeze?...
    i was thinking to add one more smargo smartreader for my tivusat card.
    what about Argolis Triple Reader. i know that PI have only 100mA per port, do i need power for this triple card reader, and do i have to install different drivers for Argolis Triple Reader?Yesterday a tried to make it work on vu+duo with cccam213+oscam4856 build and i have this error.
    can maybe someone tell me what is wrong.
    Last question is if do we need this script.If i understand correctly this will update last oscam automaticly from oscam server.

    Thank you very much for help
    AND THANK YOU FOR THIS VERY GOOD TUTORIAL...

  • kikan I have never tried the smargo - I once had the triple card reader, I couldn't get it to work in oscam only CCcam so I would stay away from it. It is cheaper to get a powered USB hub and 3 omnikey readers. I would always suggest omnikey for an oscam server as these are easy to get going. I cannot comment on djkage's script as I have never used it.

    The rest of your question relates to a server on Vu+ Duo so you need to post it in the relevant cardsharing support section so someone who is familiar with that provider will be able to help.

    If I take a while to respond, you can see why.....

  • Thank you for replay,

    i use smargo, because i your guide you use smargo...
    ''Then create the following symbolic link so Smartreader support is added during the compile;''
    ''and move the list_smargo tool;''
    ,
    the error in oscam, that i have is the same that i receive from oscam on may PI. is not image related i think.

    do you know, where can i found working osam files for tivusat card?maybe i have set up something wrong.

    thank you

  • Not saying you can't use smargo reader, just I have never had one apart from the triple reader which didn't work properly in Oscam. As I said for help with your card configs please post in the correct section. This is the raspberry pi section.

  • hello,

    i have a triple reader connected in my RPI with 3 card Télésat, Meo and tntsat it's work perfectly but now tntsat don't work i need new version of oscam with new system for aes key of tntsat.

    I have a small server with 9 peers and i don't never have a freeze, my problem is for make update over my card. Is only make update one Provid and for télésat and meo have 2 provid. I'm need my cards in official deco for make update.

  • hello,

    i had to reinstall all . because of SDcard problem...

    now with last raspberry pi image and fresh installation i have faster response time..
    before 135ms now 105ms...

    agen very good tutorial :20_003:
    thanks..

  • Maybe a bit off topic, but I'mm installing the OSCam server op Raspberry, and it starts, so far so good.
    Now I want to get my Cardreader to work properly.'s an
    it's an 'ACR38 USB Reader'
    after installing the drivers, DMESG displays :

    LSBUB gives also :

    Quote

    root@raspberrypi:~# lsusb
    Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0424:9512 Standard Microsystems Corp.
    Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
    Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:ec00 Standard Microsystems Corp.
    Bus 001 Device 004: ID 072f:9000 Advanced Card Systems, Ltd ACR38 AC1038-based Smart Card Reader

    And it even reads the card :

    Quote

    root@raspberrypi:~# opensc-tool -a
    Using reader with a card: ACS ACR38U 00 00
    3b:f7:11:00:01:40:96:70:70:0a:0e:6c:xx:xx

    But I can't find it it the /dev? i suppose it would be like : /dev/ttyUSB0
    but unfortunally it doesn't.

    the 2nd thing is i can't connect teh OSCAM server via my CCCAM client on my box.
    My settings on my box :

    Quote

    C: 192.168.0.240 13000 user pass

    And my oscam.conf :

    and oscam.user :

    Quote

    [account]
    user = user
    pwd = pass
    keepalive = 1
    au = x
    group = 1,2,3,4

  • meanwhile I got it working myself, so for others with the same problem :

    the openSC tool gave me the followinf result for PCSC devices :

    Quote

    root@raspberrypi:~# opensc-tool --list-readers
    # Detected readers (pcsc)
    Nr. Card Features Name
    0 No ACS ACR38U 00 00

    So I changes oscam.server, the protocol and device :

    Quote

    label = LOCAL
    enable = 1
    protocol = pcsc
    device = 0

  • For crying out loud too, I spent hours and no matter what it did not work. But it helped when I spelled correctly, and then fell out of that copy and paste into Putty. I apologize and thank you very much, I'm brand new to LInux and now run OScam on my Raspberry.
    So missing setup.

  • Configs are fine as worked on a old build on pi a mate did - only doing new one as after a software update it stops network after a while. I checked on router when nothing showed and pi was not in attached devices list and went walkies.

    Will check those when home but Oscam is in its folder and 755.

    Also did the restart bit as well.

  • check folder OScam (or your) where are configuration files and oscam bin
    check your script /etc/init.d/oscam.sh

    Checked /etc/init.d but there is no file called oscam.sh

    Oscam binary is in Var/local

    and configs are in /usr/loca/etc/

    Where are the other two files you mentioned located?
