it has to be down to a corrupt file somewhere along the installing..
try another image as suggested... even a backup + see if it causes the same..
flashing only takes less then 10 mins so no probs to try out othes without losing any sleep..
remember to backup all your own personal stuff ,configs ,etc first -
I think ten below had said that the device manager in bh can be a bit suspect at times, I'd suggest using vix, I had all the issues you've described and constant crashing when trying to get into device manager. I've had no such issues with vix
-
I have never had one bit of bother from BH nor VIX nor any of the other images,,
bearing in mind that the majority of errors are usually human commited.. -
changed to vix and got no problems thanx for all the help

in reference to the below post of yours

sorry i had to create a new thread as that one was locked, any hoo the reason is that windows can not natively read from linux partitions without first installing the necessary codecs. luckily it's a very easy fix as i'll detail in a reply to this post to keep things clean.

Glad it helped make sure you create a swap file if you haven't done so already. Go into vix and then swap manager

ok thanx for the reply... where should i put the swap file 4g usb or 250g hdd and whats a good size to make it thanx
-
Place the swapfile on USB, 256mb should be plenty you can increase the swapfile later if needed, telnet free which will show how much of the swapfile you are using..
-
the hisghest option was 96 mb so i used that thanx
