D-Box 500s

"unplug box from the mains

connect null modem cable between your box and pc's com port

connect the box and the supplied psu but don't plug it in to the mains yet

disconnect all other cables

on pc, start universal DreamUp

select correct pc com port

untick 'use network'

click connect.

when you see the message 'connection prepared, now switch on the dreambox', now plug in box to mains

click flash then navigate to your desried image file

when finished, exit dreamup.

leave it powered off for a while, then it should boot"

If you can't get it working after trying all those methods, wait for Master G or Ten Below!...

Hopefully they'll have the answer!

Seems to happen a lot and just needs to be recovered!...

Ok we have confirmed the box is alive!

I think its just a bad flash now..

Not high up on this side of the recievers so you may be better off waiting until the morning when Master G and Ten are around! They will have past experience at this!

"When Dreamup asks you to power on the DM500, then switch on or insert the power lead
You should see box type: DM500
however it may fail to initialise the flash upload or give you the message "alive and speaking to us"

Leave for about 1 minute connected using Dreamup then quickly remove power from the DM500 and quickly reconnect the Power.

You may see that DreamUps starts to initiate the flash upload..but wont copy flash to memory.

What I did next seemed really strange but brought these boxes back to life.

Click disconnect in DreamUps ..Remove power from DM500..then click connect.. Reconnect power to DM500. You should see box type again DM500

Intialise again fails.....quickly remove and connect power to the DM500 (i did it about 5 times)

Reboot laptop or PC with Null modem cable connected and DM500 switched off

Start Dreamups again
Power on DM500 when asked to.

Hey presto....managed to get an Image back on :-)

This wasnt a "one off" as I have done it to 3x DM500s now (2 clones and an original)

Worth a shot!...

when i get errors with dreamup and stb frozen i use a erase flash image i am prity sure i had to do this the first time i flashed my dm500 aswell

I had problems flashing my Eagle box (dm500 clone) when I first got it.
Using an older version of Dreamup worked for me.

iam unable to attatch files but if you search google for "dm500 erase img" then flash this to your box, reboot then flash the img that you want to your box it should work
i think if it was a connection you would get a diffrent error

I've got version 1.3.2.1 on my pc, so i'm guessing thats what I used.

Using proper serial port or adaptor?
Tried another PC?
Unticked use network?
Faulty box?
