Hi caz mate, and for everyone else. After trying all suggestions including ideas we came up with ourselves,we had to call it a day for now. Will give it another go if something else comes up.
-
I've had a couple of client/clines like that and had to call it a day with it seems so random.
-
There were spacing errors in both your flines and having no restictions enabled you to see each other, i still think this is the reason.
-
Hi mate, tried writing fline with and without spaces, with restrictions and without, with and without DNS at end of line but to no avail.I think there is something else, don't know what though
-
i've started a new .cfg file with only scooby with no luck. i have pm'd ten with all our lines to satisfy myself and scooby we have correct syntax but bugger all else.
thanks to all who took the time to help, but doesnt look like we can find the answer. Bizarre!!
-
We will find the awnser mate, check your pm.

Problem found, up to you guys to fix it now.
-
Come on Ten dont keep us in the dark ;-)
-
What was the probleman how was it fixed, me and another member are having the same issues.
-
it wasn't as far as i know! other than reducing the number of client's. if you add one line to the troublesome connection ONLY and vice versa you will probally find it will come up?
-
Guys, i've found a solution :-)
Although I dont quite understand it.Can you guys test your lines again for me?
daveangel, have a look at your router config and see if you can find an MTU setting. I'm using dd-wrt on my router and its under Setup-Basic Setup-Optional Settings.
If I change it to manual, and set a figure of 1400 or less, I conect and see shares :-)
As soon as I set it to the default 1500, I lose the connection. Please let me know how you get on.
-
I have the bog standard modem and my is set to Maximum Upstream Channel Burst :1600 but with the firmware I dont think I can alter it.
-
I'm looking for a way to change the MTU on just my DM800 as a smaller MTU on the router slows down my laptop too.
Enigma1 had a setting for MTU but E2 doesnt! -
I've managed to change the MTU on the DM800, so I can leave the router setting alone.
And I am connecting to you fine now.daveangel, can you give it a go if you've got an MTU setting?
Otherwise let me know and i'll explain how to lower the MTU on your box, and it should then work. -
How did you change it on the 800
-
You have to edit the file
etc/network/interfacesput this on a new line:
mtu 1370Reboot box.
But you have to be careful what program you use to edit the file. I used notepad the other night to change the MAC address and it screwed up the network connection (it was fixable).
I use telnet and vi to edit it. It's probably one of the weirdest and hardest editors to use, but I can post instructions if you need. -

my router mtu is 1458 but i reflashed the router yesterday for some old firmware. prior to that im sure it was 1500.
i would prefer to alter the setting on the dm800. can you tell me how to do that? (ah i see the post above)
well, i added the mtu line but it killed my network. can you post a copy of your file?
-
As above dave, but temporarily change it on your router first to test it and see if it actually works.
