Proudly introduces a brand new ViX image for all OpenViX supported receivers.

OpenViX Zeus requires a full reflash. You cannot update from OpenViX 3.0 or use a settings backup from any image prior to OpenViX Zeus. We have coded it so that you can't use a backup from an earlier image as it will cause issues if you do.

So what is different in OpenViX Zeus then ?

The main difference is core of the image or the OE (Open Embedded); this has undergone a lot of changes, updates and fixes. As a user you should not notice any differences between OpenViX 3.0 and OpenViX Zeus. (i.e. there are no real functional differences. But as the last release is now over 3 months ago, several updates have been implemented).

A secret internal report has recommended the BBC should drop the licence fee in favour of subscriptions.

The majority of the 12-person centenary review committee set up by James Purnell, the former Labour DCMS minister and now BBC head of strategy, believes the legally enforceable licence fee cannot be sustained and should be replaced by subscriptions from about 2020.

However, the corporation has denied that the review proposed replacing the licence fee with a subscription scheme. “The report recommends that the BBC pursue an inflationary licence fee increase with greater commercial revenue,” a spokesman said. “No subscription model is recommended.”

The committee is overseen by consultancy EY and contains known BBC licence ‘opponents’ such as David Elstein, former C5 CEO, and academics including LSE professor Julian LeGrand. Their report, leaked to the Sunday Times, has been submitted to the executive board. Another potential option, said to be less favoured by the committee, would be to turn the corporation into a Mutual with members of the public elected to a governing trust.

The move away from the licence fee is beginning to look inevitable. The government heavily hinted last week it would make non-payments a civil offence (rather than criminal) – a move the BBC reckons could see non-payment jump 5 per cent to 10 per cent. However, the government is unhappy with the incarceration of non-payers of fines imposed for avoiders – inevitably often the poorest and most vulnerable – and even more so with amount of court time taken up; fully 10 per cent of magistrates cases are licence fee non-payment.

The BBC itself may be surprisingly relaxed; next week it reveals plans to make iPlayer the ‘front door’ to services with original programmes included and links to other organisations and services. It has already announced plans to charge for downloads through a BBC store and its own polling has suggested users would pay up to £240 in subscriptions for current services against the £145 licence fee.

    Code

Google the make and model of your TV with the term overscan then disable that rather than covering it over by adjusting the OSD.

What happened, the last OpenVix update seems to have stopped at 3.0 build 808 ?

This is not a question and answer thread buddy, it's only for updates to the ViX 3.0 image series, as of now this thread can be closed as ViX 3.0 has been superseded and will no longer be updated, upgraded or supported in any way by the ViX team.

Evening all here is some black picons for 28.2e.

These are not to be confused by MMC BLACK PICONS as the last up date I uploaded was a mixture of my picons and MMC black picons sorry about that ( @ pheonix and MMC ) i dont think they were impressed as they had a go at me on (WOS fourm) any way mine are attached on zip file. if any are missing let me no and i will fix these for you enjoy

Nothing to do with me buddy, I just suggested as a way to keep the peace that you make your own thread so as not to confuse your work with MMC's, he on the other hand had a legitimate point about you uploading picons in his name.

you need a active 5ky subscription card ( the white ones ) or a share from one from a friend. The blue house cards are as pointed out above obsolete.

you wont get any thing for nothing in this hobby no matter what your told by your mates down the pub.

I have the plugin working fantastically however i was wondering if there is anyway to watch BBC and ITV live from within this plugin like on the XBMC version??? The only reason i ask is because i have family who live in spain and ASTRA have now changed the signal so its very hard to pickup the signal now from outside the UK.

Not from within the OnDemand plugin it self, we want to keep that on the correct side of the law, there are others that may be able to help such as TSmedia.

i'am using bh 2.0.8 and it is only 5 weeks old from w.o.s.

In that case your receiver will have the newer surface mounted capacitors to eliminate the "red light of death" fault, as suggested above try a different image to rule out hardware faults.

even if the receiver were in deep sleep it would still wake upon command by the remote control.

How old is the receiver ?, it may be showing early signs of the "red light of death".

If your using ViX just press the file list ( media player ) button, highlight the files you want to move and use the move option then go for a cuppa and let it do it's thing. sorry i cant be more specific, i'm at work rite now and not near a receiver to confirm the exact procedure.

if your after a single tuner box another one to look at is the TM Nano, it's a very snappy little box and can take a internal 2.5" hard drive with the optional caddy / fan kit.
