just noticed another problem with software update.
the one package that is constantly present should i try to update it these messages start to appear on the screen after an hour and keep repeating them self,s over and over again.

it just keeps repeating itself,the only way to stop it is to restart GUI.
then it will tell me there are 40 jobs running in the background!..(really restart now?)
some times its more other times its less.
when i restart its gone but when i try do update it starts all over again.
i checked the logs file and there is nothing there.

i now have 11 pages of this crap when i press the blue button.
it,s only 22 hours ago since i made the post above.
i just now went to restart GUI,this is the message i get.

abu,yes i have a storage device attached.
i removed it and inserted it in lappy but i kept getting a screen message to say it had malfunctioned and to replace it.
i have inserted a new usb into the box and made a full backup.
i inserted this usb into my lappy and cannot find a file or folder called opkg.

installed 10 with usb,then reinstalled my backup settings.
it,s still telling me one update available.
im not to worried,when it tells me there are two updates available i will update then.

[MENTION=11662]master[/MENTION],did what you did.the symbol has gone,but when i go menu/setup/software update it tells me 2 packages are available.when i upgrade and reboot there still there. [MENTION=183699]abu[/MENTION] no,the only changes i make lately are upgrades to vix image.

i use vix image 4.2.009
for a long time now i have the [ openvix stable available symbol ] on top left of tv screen.
when i go to the motion of doing the update and box reboots the symbol will still say update available.
only the last week it now says there are two updates available,but when i update the symbol remains there.
i am sure i have seen this problem posted on the forum in the past,but i can not find the thread.
if someone has answer to my problem or give me a link to similar thread i would be grateful.

ok abu.
just removed the ip addy.
but as i said above it was not set to L: {03} but was on the correct setting of L: {00}.
so i wonder if the problem could be something else.
maybe a reboot every morning might take the pressure of the load on the box.
i appreciate your knowledge on this matter.

i was looking for my_cfg.
think you meant mg_cfg.
i ftp to usr/keys/mg_cfg....found what you told me to look for.
it was set as L: { 00 } {next ip addy} 28007 /tmp/mgCamd.log
is it necessary for me to delete the ip addy.

have vu zero vix 4.2..6 image
should i set timer to reboot box on a daily basis.
or is it ok to leave it on for weeks at a time.
just that some family members have the box aswell.
they leave theres on 24/7.
they do encounter problems from time to time.
such as only getting fta,then i find i cant reconnect to internet and i have to tell them to dump backup from stick.

i just used a previous backup i had,that seems to have worked.
im forever tinkering about with the box,missus gives me hell over it.
at some stage i must of changed a setting during one of my sessions.

hi,have vu zero with vix image v.1.16.
switched on the tv 2 days ago and found most of my picons were missing.
now when i go to download my picons in plugins it will only give me one option to store them in internal flash.
i have since reformatted my stick to fat 32 and remounted it to HDD but result is still the same.
i have tried several sticks but no joy with them either,i dont know why i lost my picons as my usb stick been in there for many weeks now.

i think if i press 0 it resets it,

ok abu,
when i set it to automatic.
this is what it says.
checking tuner A...tuner status tuning....tuner status failed.
it trys to lock to on to 3 satellites,and when finished.it looks like this.
configuration mode simple
mode single
satellite nothing connected
send diseqc no

when i do manaul scan this are amount of channels found.
scan compleated 938 channels found.

i will take the box and try it in family members house tomorrow.

ok.
took the box to the brothers house and only fta worked.
when i check the internet connection in menu the two bottom lines were not connected.
i could not get it to work so i went to do a restore and that failed aswell,took it back to my house and reflashed with earlier image 4.0003 but the epg problem is still the same.

managed to find a usb stick with a backup of vix 4.0003 which i made in april i think.
this now works with EPG.no problems so far.
the only thing i can think of is i altered a setting on my box which effected my EPG settings.
not to sure how this happened,but i do tend to play with my vu to improve the performance.
i reckon i missed doing a backup when playing around with the settings,hence my problems.
i suggest everyone should make a spare backup of there box on a regular basis,and at least once a month do an extra backup and leave the stick to one side for a master backup.
that way you have something to fall back on.

hi all.
having a problem with my epg.
this is the image i am using.........vix 4.1.009
when i follow the guide for ....How to setup 7 DAYS EPG for Astra 28.2 with CrossEPG
at the point of download this error appears.
cross epg error time out for tuner lock.
anyone any ideas as to what im doing wrong.
