The http://www.opena.tv mostly in german i think can't seem to understand any of it can't find the drivers.
not to worry i'll keep fishing in the dark, bound to find something soon, not the end of the world!!!

I did actually load a backup from the VU+Solo2 section, I think I posted here by mistake as I was search around the site for the answer anyway your second link I do have the "VU+ Turbo USB Tuner DVB-C/T2" attached to my usb.

This openatv image isn't picking up this tuner. I was hoping someone could point to where in the file structure of enigma2 lie the info for the tuner configuration.

I did try try the Black hole 3.0 image which picks up the 3 tuner but i just didn't like the look of that image much preferred this.

Another general question I have is: is it possible to use the sat and cable inputs at the same time, as at the moment I have a sly setup on one box and a cable setup on another box, is it possible to combine the two.

can I input the two codes into the same CCcam, or is this not possible?

Loaded the image and it's very nice question is I want to add a third tuner - is there any support on this image to enable me to do this. I have a VU+Solo2, both tuner are occupied with the twin sat cables I want to add a third usb tuner so I can feed in a cable signal
can some point to where I need to look any help appreciated

File permission setting is very easy, all you do is first FTP to the box, do you know how to do this? if yes i'll carry on. When you look at the screen on the lefthand side is you computer directory, on the right hand side is your box directory, look right down at the bottom on the right hand side you will see the var folder, click and open the folder, you will see the sub directory of var, click and open the keys folder, here you will find the list files, highlight the newcamd.list by clicking left mouse button then do a right click on the mouse and you will get another menu, at the bottom you will see File permission click on this and you will see another box pop up nemed "change file attributes" and enter 755 in the box at the bottom and click ok. now you have set the file permission. If you don't know how to FTP do a search and you will find lots of good tutorial on the subject.

make sure youe network is setup properly then i would Ftp your box in spark mode copy your bin folder to your desktop also copy your key folder. then reboot in enigma ftp and check what file are located in bin and key folder then paste the file from your desktop back to the bin and key folder. make sure you set the file permission to 755 in the keys. reboot and go into menu /setup find your emu and restart mgcamd. that should do the trick

I have been using it in enigma mode more than Spark and it has been very good reliable box In fact I've ordered another unit. channel change is quick no freezing. The recording I am having problems setting up the hdd on enigma but on the whole I am well happy.

First try loading enigma image onto usb stick. then keep ok pressed in while you switch on wait till you see display change press down button enigma mode then press right button till you see succ then display will change to U LD then wait till image loads. If enigma works the try booting in Spark, is that what you having problems with?

Just loaded the image and hard drive initialized staight away and started recording without a problem. Should of put this image on in the first place, so the image I had needs some sort of modification. This PK nebula image i have scanned both tuners and my list of channel is missing most of the HD station how can I rectify this, tried scanning a few time same result.

I telnet and this is the diplay I get

    "spark7162:~# mkfs.ext3 -L RECORD/dev/sda1
    usage: mkfs.ext3 [-c]-1 filename] [-b block-size] [-C cluster-size]
    [-i byte-per-inode] [-I inode-size] [-J journel-options]
    [-G flex-group-size] [-N number-of-inodes]
    [-m reserved=blocks-percentage] [-o creator-os]
    [-g blocks-per-group] [-L volume-label] [-M last-mounted-directory]
    [-0 feature[,...]] [-r fs-revision] [-E extended-option[,...]]
    [-t fs-type] [-T usage-type ] [-U UUID] [-jnqvDFKSV] device [blocks-count]

    spark7162:~# cd/autofs/sda1
    -sh: cdautofs/sda1: not found
    spark7162~# mkdir movie
    spark7162~# "

i hit the return key straight after typing eash line is that right or do I have to add a # to end each line. when I add a # to mkfs.ext3 -L RECORD /dev/sda1#

    I get this display

    spark7162:~# mkfs.ext3 -L RECORD dev/sda1#
    mkefs 1.42.4 (12-June-)
could not stat /dev/sda1# --- No such file or directory

The divice apparently does not exist; did you specify it correctly?

I am still learning with telnet so if you could tell me exactly how I should be entering these commands appreciate your help

ihave checked and in the /dev folder there is a file called sda and sda1

Hi I been going round in circles again trying to get my hdd to work in the enigma mode it perfect on the spark side. I have placed it in the front and the back usb port making no difference, it is being recognised when i go into setup/system settings menu and by selecting hard drive I get the three options which are 1) Hard Drive Setup - which does nothing except select standby time for the drive option 2) Initialization - which when selected show my drive details and when selected to inialize by pressing the red key give you a warning about the data will be erased, selecting yes causes the drive led to blink for about seconds then reverts back to the main menu again. option 3) File system check which i just ignored. on exit I get an error message on screen saying: "Error: mke2fs 1.42.4 (12=June-2012) /dev/sda1 is mounted; will not make a filesystem here" . what's going on ??
I have tried a different image and the same thing is happening. I have tried everything I know any advice would be great cheers

I am not much good with writing so please bear with me I can only explain what I did in my perticular case as it worked for me as I am completley new to the Amiko box and spark,
firstly you should be able to boot up the Alien in the Spark mode or the Enigma mode, I worked on th enigma side first as I have had a dreambox and thing are very similiar.
I loaded the image found on this site called (New E2 image for Alien 2 -Amiko Alien 2 enigma 2 sth-stm24_0211-beta 0.01 Image created by osborne82 ) ,with my usb stick which was not a kingston brand but it worked well each time I pluged in it,
then just followed instruction on screen downloaded the plug in mgcamd and put my details in the newcamd.list file and ftp saved and it was all so simple.
When I booted in the Spark mode this was not so quick. I follwed dak@uk guide and each time i had a blank screen,
I got confused as oscam was not known to me and the conversion from Cccamd to oscam realy through me on a wild goose chase.
each time I went into menu - plugin i see oscam4spark when I highlighted it to green then pressed the red key start osd the next screen gives you four option Active- Config - Option - About.
I went into config press yellow Add key i get the yellow icon with a number 1 press the green key to edit, then I would place my details of server name/ port/ user name etc press the green key to active server then select newcamd after that I ignored the last line which is Encrypt on the botton you will find red button for select and restart pressed that went back to the channel, still nothing.
I had all the plugin loaded and then I went back into menu again into plugin and highlighted all the emu CCam214 -mgcamd.sh4 - etc that didn't work.
I tried so many different thinks the I gave up came and asked a few question and did't get much help and i was not going to give up .
After further reading post everyone made it look so easy so where am I going wrong.
I had my working line on mgcamd on the Enigma side so I thought since I can ftp on the spark side it looked very similar so I deleted every thing did a factory restore on spark then I upgraded it to the latest firmware 1.2.58
I went found another plugin download for spark from another website which had a var folder
I loaded this plugin onto the usb stick and downloaded to amiko.
instead of activating the oscam4spark plugin there is another plugin called mgcamd.sh4.plugin which i highlighted to green leaving all the rest on red (not active) ftp found the same plugin file I had just downloaded to the box opened it up and copied the entire var folder from the usb stick to the var folder on the box and I overwrite the existing files.
I then located the newcamd.list file which lives under /root/plugin/var/keys,
then I inserted my personal Nline copy and paste then made sure the permision is set to 755 by right click on the file and selecting file permission. saved made sure also that the bin file was located in /root/plugin/var/bin here you can see all the file the same as if you press select menu - plugin on the box.
making sure the mgcamd.sh4.plugin is highlighted to green and after that a few seconds to my relief all my channels appeared.
So the oscam never came into play for my personal point of view, they do work for some one who knows but for me the mgcamd did the trick - hope this helps some one and please feel free to add delete as necessary.

I can not get past the first step as when I put the usb stick into the back of the box nothing seems to be happening, it is formatted to fat32 and it is a kingston usb, on the front panel of the box there is like a spinning CD and above that it says timeshift and there is also a usb symbol there, but nothing appears on the screen to update and there is only calculate in the plugins, can you offer any help?

Take your usb stick plug into your pc. When your pc recognises the stick as a drive, click on start select computer the right click on your memory stick drive select Format and unclick quick Format select Fat32 at 4096 byte and then click format, nice and slow when done remove stick by doing right click and choose the Eject option when it tell you safe to remove harware take it out. Then reinsert and copy your plugin folder when done eject and place in the Amiko front usb port, switch off then a few seconds later switch on let it boot up in Spark wait till you get the channels then insert the usb in the front panel if your memory stick has a led it should start to flash showing the it doing something on the tv screen in the top left corner you will see a icon of a disk with a maginfing glass going round and round then a caption cox will appear in the middle of the screen saying "Do you want to upgrade plug in?2 select yes let it load then the box will reboot itself take out the stick and after book up select Menu and then plug in and the emu should be where calculate is, if this does not work then I sugest that go into menu then select Spark and then click on update and select spark_1.2.58 Europe press the red key and reinstall the sysytem and try the above steps again, if this fails the i would ftp to the box and load the plug in by selecting root/plugin/var/bin and copy all the plugin into this bin folder. I hope this helps
