I'm not interested in the latest drivers. Fixing something in software/firmware many times means breaking something else, necessitating an endless supply of "upgrades".

I don't need the latest features, I want stability.

But since YOU bring it up exactly how many driver upgrades has the Japhar team performed (since Sim2.30 team quit) vs Dream Multimedia in that time frame ? Are they one for one ?

For testing this freeze situation of late I have been using stock images as posted by the sim2.30 team at dreamnew.co.uk. Are you both suggesting they only provided buggy images ?

On last freeze I've removed the cover to look inside (nothing visible) and did not put it back on. Also swapped the 5A power supply for another. Have been running for two plus days so far but not declaring victory as of yet.

Is there a way by terminal to determine the temperature of the cpu ?

Looks to me like your refresh rate is off and the tv is not compensating for it.

Go into the receivers video settings and try to change the resolution/refresh rate to match your part of the world.

Might take a bit of fumbling as the image is garbled but doable.

The only difference (Clone/Original) is the Chip/Sim and Memory Boot Partition, but you can swap and it works as Original, or as Clone, how you want.

    That is my opinion.

Are you saying you can put a genuine (A8P ?) dm900 sim in a clone and it will work fine and accept genuine images ?

emosim replied above the hardware is different between clone and genuine.

I and at least one other member who have DM900 clone boxes are having to reboot after varying lengths of time.

To troubleshoot the software side I need a good, stable image that has been working on your clone box without freeze.

I can't be certain the images from dreamnew.co.uk are 100% stable that's why it's important for someone to have been running the software on their box for some time without issue.

    Thanks for your help.

When mine freezes the clock on the lcd is still illuminated but does not advance. Telnet and FTP are dead/not responding. Not responding to remote control.

emosim, I'm all ears on how to narrow it down, if it's software OR hardware. Remember, this happens with unaltered Sim2.30 team images. NO additional plugins, NO additional drivers, NO oscam if not embedded in the image.

How do you determine the REAL date of the drivers ?

I did some reading up on the memsys error - all of them have units that fail to boot. I can't find out if they had similar problems with freezing before that happened there is no indication of that. My issue is the unit locking up after various lengths of time.

Will try disabling the HDMI-CEC thanks for the suggestion.

There are NO updates to clone drivers, this is what it means when support is dead.

Japhar team claims their images for their Japhar Sim have updated drivers - you would have to inquire with them to find out if this is true or not.

Like I said all images are freezing including those direct from the clone manufacturer. Perhaps you have a source you can point me to indicating where clones are freezing with images from the sim2.30 team ?

But you raise a good point for troubleshooting. I need to find a backup from someone running a stable clone image and flash it to my box.

I think I have a hardware issue with my DM900 Clone - it freezes within a day or two and must be rebooted with the hard on/off switch. This happens even with unmodified images from the dreamnew website.

Is there a way to test the hardware, specifically a mem test ? I can only imagine one of those bga's is bad or has a bad solder joint underneath it or possibly the processor itself has one.

    This is driving me nuts.

Every Sim2.30 image I load freezes eventually within one to days maximum. I don't think a Japhar sim will help me, I believe I have a hardware issue somewhere...

I don't think the processor is even getting overly warm. Usually freezes in idle mode,

Last thing to try maybe another 12v 5a power supply...
