What’s the best way to achieve the requirement for a piece of hardware that can be plugged into a TV or big screen and it will automatically play an infinite number of videos, on shuffle and in a continuous loop, without any need for user interaction beyond plugging it in? It’s for promotional videos at work. Basically, slideshows converted to videos to run on multiple screens in a venue during certain workshops and conventions. Here is a breakdown of what I’m after:

    • A media player that can easily be plugged in to practically any television.
    • When I say ‘media player’ I don’t mean software like VLC or Quicktime, I mean a physical box or drive that can be used to play videos.
    • The media player will contain an infinite amount of video files. There could be 10, there could be 10,000.
    • When the media player is plugged into the television, one of the videos needs to play automatically. It should be a different video everytime it is switched on.
    • The videos need to be in a completely random order and play repeatedly forever.
    • Preferably the same video won’t play again until the entire playlist has been played.
    • For example when the media player is switched on, it will create a randomised playlist of all the videos on there. It will play through them one by one. When they’ve all played, the playlist order will randomise again and the cycle will continue.

For ease, let’s say there are 10 videos, titled numerically 00001 to 00010. When the media player is plugged in it will generate a random playlist:

    1. 00001
    2. 00009
    3. 00003
    4. 00005
    5. 00004
    6. 00010
    7. 00007
    8. 00008
    9. 00006
    10. 00002

The videos will play in that order. When video 00002 has finished, a new randomised playlist will be created:

    1. 00009
    2. 00001
    3. 00007
    4. 00003
    5. 00005
    6. 00010
    7. 00002
    8. 00006
    9. 00008
    10. 00004

Video 00009 will play first and again they will all play in turn, until 00004 and then the process will be repeated.

Failing that, a standard “shuffle” is acceptable. The problem I’ve found with shuffle on certain platforms in the past is it often plays the same song/video a second time, before all the other songs/videos have been played. However, if this is the only way, it will suffice.

The videos will all be of the same filetype and codec. However this is still TBC, so a media player that can play as many filetypes and codec as possible is preferable.

If a media player/drive/box/whatever can do all this, please help me accomplish it. I will need more than one identical unit. The ability to clone and redistribute what’s on each media player would be preferable, but if it can only be done manually I will do so. I will need multiple units of the media player so I hope this can all be achieved with as little cost as possible.

Hopefully together we can come up with a perfect solution. :)

    Hello.

I'm raring to go with my Zgemma H7C box and in my head it's gonna look like a like-for-like replica of a certain UK satellite provider's EPG. Without the Q cos I prefer the old interface.

    Is this possible?

I'm still learning so please bear with me but the channel categories are known as Bouquets, right? Like bunches of flowers; cute. Anyway, I guess I want a bouquet for like "Entertainment" (as opposed to "all channels" with is the first category on the real version), "Documentaries," "Kids," "Movies," "Sports," "News," "Music" and then my own additions like "PPV" and "International Sports" etc.

I've done some research, either on here or asking on various social media platforms and been recommended a multitude of options - E-Channelizer, something called Jedi, another one called Xtreme Editor, something known simply as Suls' script, using the bouquet editor in OpenWebIF, and probably others I've already forgot. To me Suls' script seems about the best. Mainly because a) it's free and b) it seems to do a lot of the legwork for you.

However I'm not averse to putting it a lot of effort to get it right. Is it possible to really make your EPG your own? Or does a lot of it depend on the source? My IPTV comes in the form of a long URL M3U playlist (afaik) like this: (obviously edited):

    Code
    http://provider.url.co.uk/get.php?username=Baz&password=ABC123XYZ8910&type=m3u_plus&output=ts

So this is what I'm working with.

I also have a satellite "line" but I'm yet to read up on them so I'm literally clueless on that front.

However the second part of my question is in regards to mixing sources in the same bouquet.

Let's say for example in the Sports bouquet, I will want most of the sports channels to come through IPTV. However, I'd like the ones fronted by a classic British telephony service, that happen to show Champions League matches, to come through my satellite dish. Is it possible to have them listed this way in my EPG?

If so, what's the best way to go about it?

And finally, I've noticed a lot of people set their zgemma boxes to update in the early hours of every morning. Seems good. Will my alterations survive said updates? And if I ever need to rescan - for example a new channel called BBC Scotland went on air tonight so a rescan would be necessary for it to appear - will the channels stay in my desired order and in their assigned bouquets?

I hope everything I've asked makes sense. I really appreciate as much guidance as I can get with this cos if I can get it looking and acting like my old providers EPG, the wife won't murder me for having all the sports channels, cos she'll be able to find The Passage and Dr Who and whatever else she likes, without stressing over where the channels are. Meanwhile, my 17 year old daughter is fully-versed in finding Cbeebies no matter what, and I think she'd still find it if the EPG was in Chinese, so I needn't worry on that front.

    Thanks in advance.

    Quite big price jumps.

_BAZ, you have all you need on this forum, see PurE2 section, as well as Zgemma section. Elsewhere, in OSCam Emu section, a post of mine will complete the info, no worries.

If you get the 2 partitions image you can have PurE2 v. 6.2 and 6.3 and test for us...

Sure. Found it. Still waiting for my H7C box to come but looking forward to flashing with this. :party-time:

One more thing: you can have 4 images natively in H7 because it has 4 partitions

Presumably this splits the memory between the four, so like 1gb per image. If you only ever have one image will it make full use of all the available memory, or only ever use a quarter of it?
