Hi All,
I have a server that I set-up with great help from this community. I can use Filezilla and edit configs, change permissions etc. My problem is as follows. A second server which was set-up by a third party, which is also running on debian will only allow me to edit certain files such as cccam config etc. I tried using putty with the "vi" command etc, but am still being denied making changes with the notice "operation not permitted".
Any ideas.

I have root access enabled and password updated. I guess that I now will be able to edit the file. Let you know how it goes.
Thanks again.
Update.
Managed to get to the file and edit it (I think) with " vi /server/cccam/backup.old/ .
I then pressed Esc and enter, followed by w to write changes. Now when I ftp into the location I see a new file called backup.old.swp. The original file backup.old is still there also. Do I have to overwrite the original with the swp file or am I way off the mark. -

Hi All,
I need to edit one of my cccam backup files as I think it may be causing me some trouble (long story). I have tried both Filezilla and WinzipSc but get permission denied with both programmes. I went into properties and 775 the file but still get the denied notice.
Any ideas. -
Hi,
My 13 year old told me about the raspberry pi. I was amazed when he compiled a server on it but was disappointed when I found out that it could only support oscam. I wanted cccam. He now uses it as a media server for music and video etc.
Amazing product for 30 odd bucks. -
Eureka.
Thanks guys.
Told you it was something silly. I noticed that my ConfigUpdate.sh had a capital C and a capital U. When I got this right all worked ok.
You guys have never let me down. -
Thanks ten below.
Tried your suggested post. I know I am doing something silly as I am getting no 'such file or directory notice'.
My cccam config is in server/config/CCcam_1cfg. The configupdate seems to be in server /script/ConfigUpdate.sh -
Getting access denied all over the page when I run. find / -name configupdate.sh

Thanks master G,
I will give it a go. I have to learn sometime.Even at my age.
UPDATE,
Useful commands. I tried out some and they worked so I know I am not to far off beam. However my cccam config is in server-config-CCcam_1cfg. Does this mean that I use the following. /server/config/CCcam_1.cfg/configupdate.sh. Tried this to no avail.
Hope I don't look to stupid. Hopefully I am on the right track. -

Hi All,
My debian server is set up to execute any changes I make to the config file after a certain time (4am I think) daily. Is there a way I can force the changes to take place without having to wait until the following day.
New to all this. Willing to learn. -
Thanks for getting back to me. I will check out.

Hi All,
Built a server with great help from this site about 18 months ago. I am a complete novice so need once again to seek help from fellow members. Another server which was built by a third party is suffering from what I am told is a 'double login'. It has been suggested that I check the security on the server. Can it be possible that someone can have a sort of back door entry into the server although only I know the passwords etc. Is there any way of checking if it has been compromised.
Thanks in advance. -
Tried the suggestion from this site on how to recover dead smargo by fitting link or resistor on smargo pcb.
I am testing the smargo in my windows PC.
With 1k resistor fitted smargo is now detected by windows but I get a notice that says something like usb malfunction. Without resistor link my pc does not see the smargo. Is my smargo a dead duck.
Any ideas. -
Hi annie12,
Thanks for your response.
I think I misunderstood the original post when I read it. It probably was comparing a smargo in a usb port and one in a 4 way hub. I looked like the author was saying that if you take smargo out of the usb slot and put it in a powered hub your ecm timing would improve. Thought I was losing the plot. -
Hi all,
Anyone know the reason why a powered usb hub improves ecm timing.
My old fashioned approach to things is the less stuff in the loop the better. Maybe I an wrong. My mind is still in analogue mode. Just given my age away, ha ha. -
Hi All,
With great help from this site I managed to get my debian server working about a year ago and is operating fine. I am planning to install a second smargo which is currently running in a dm500 box. This hopefuly will help with load balancing. I know how to lock the smargo in the udev rules file and the setup that is required in the cccam config. My question is, will I require to have 2 X cccam's installed, ie, one for each smargo. The second smargo is currently on a different listen port than my debian server. I would like to retain this if possible. To summerise, can I run 2 X smargos in my server using 2 X different listen ports in the one cccam. Maybe i just modify my existing cccam config but I decided to check with you guys first incase I mess things up.Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that.
I will give it a go. -
Hi jimleeds,
have not got back to this yet.
I have posted some questions below and will try out soon. -
Option 3...
If you use cccam2.1.3, Connect to the server that has least load with N:Line 256 so cccam sees it as local and prefers it...
Thanks thatfellow,
Do I need to make up an N line ,put it on the server and on the stb also. I have never used N lines before so I may need a little instruction.
