    spoon feeding?! are you kidding me?

    I already spent many hours and couldn't find the damn problems...
    Now you just insulting me.

    You only gave very little, very effortless help, and already lost patience? Give me a break.

    The solution you provided also doesn't work. You can see the content of my file and it's the same to yours.
    I didn't mistype the path or something like that, and it's probably a silly thing, but i can't see it.

    If I can't consult on a few issues that bug me, without the need to lose my sanity, it's pointless me being here.
    Maybe they are silly questions and it's look simple to you now, but i'm sure it wasn't when you started out too.
    I hope you didn't got the same dismissing response, when you reached for help.

    I'm very disappointed by your attitude.
    No one is forcing you to help, if don't wanna.

    I'll manage myself.
    You don't need to trouble yourself any further on my behalf, God forbid.

    I've no inkling of a clue why, but the above suggested change doesn't work as expected.
    Wasted a few hours trying to figure it out, but failed miserably.

    Though... I did find out that if I put the same line in the terminal, it will start to work as expected:
    /usr/bin/oscam_ymod -c /etc/tuxbox/config/oscam_ymod/ -b

    I have no idea why the script doesn't do the same. It will not start it!
    Some syntax error thingy? I'm completely puzzled by this. :bello:

    My file:

    I also tried my best to configure a reader for keys, but to no avail...
    This is the best I could come up with:

    [reader]
    label = myconstantcw
    enable = 1
    protocol = constcw
    device = /usr/keys/oscam/oscam.keys
    caid = 0d05,2600,1801
    ident = 0d05:000010;2600:000000;1801:000000
    group = 4

    It doesn't work. WHY?
    So difficult... :(

    Can I delete the caid and ident lines so it would be more general? I don't wish to limit it in anyway!
    Whatever keys it may have I wish it to open it.

    Also, why some channels are clearing in one softcam, but not in the other? For ex. mgacam open "NBA TV Europe", but cccam and oscam-ymod doesn't (and they all use the same file).

    Last thing.... What is the difference between doscam and oscam-ymod, and which of them is considered better?

    Problem fixed.

    I had to download it through a lousy wifi connection (just disconnected from my isp :/), so it was probably just a corrupted file issue.
    Re-downloading fixed the problem.

    The default path for ymod config files I understand is /etc/tuxbox/config/.
    How can i change this path? I would prefer to put the configs into a sub-folder in the above path.

    I downloaded this file: e2-oscam-ymodv18-t39.tar.

    Extracted its constant ("usr" folder) to my root and rebooted, but it didn't showed up in my softcam manager.

    What am I missing?
    Is that how I'm suppose to install it?

    Help me find a product like this for under $10 with shipping from china:
    HOLLAND HFS-4D 4-Way Diode Steered Satellite Wideband Splitter
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/EAGLE-ASPEN-P7004AP-4-PORT-2600-MHZ-SPLITTER-ALL-PORT-PASSING-Part-500312-/290794696922?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b4b6f0da

    Ebay and Aliexpress are the preferred choices, but any other site at that price limit will be acceptable.

    It is my understanding that with a product like this, I can connect several tuners to the same cable, correct?
    And that I will be able to use them at the same time as long they are at the same high/low and V/H band, or have a full control if I use them one at a time, is that so?

    Thanks.

    I switched to acamd and the problem vanished!
    As an added bonus everything seems to be much more responsive now.
    Much better than wincsc performance, without a doubt.
    Hop 3 works very good on a lan connection, I'll test it later over wan.
    I still have some problems with some channels not decrypting, but i'll get around to that later.

    Thank you nano for your efforts . :caz:

    Hop 3 on a $ky Italia card is pushing it a little. If it works fine under CCCam why are you using Newcamd

    Because I'm trying to check how to circumvent resharing limitations, and that is the way I understood it's need to be done.
    If I could use cccam, without allowing a reshare, to redistribute, it will be good, but it doesn't seems to work, AFAICT.
    Why is that really, that I need to switch to newcamed? Can't it be done with OSCAM/CCCAM all the way through?

    I thought hop 3 would be easy peasy... Doesn't seem like a much load to me. Do people mostly use direct shares only?!
    The viewing is very watchable and quite good, if I could only get rid of those small annoying disruptions, at every key change or so, that are ruining the voice sync.
    Maybe a bug with oscam or the client, I don't know... I probably need to check it with a different version, to see if there is any change.
    Thought I'll get some advice first, as my knowledge at the moment is very limited, and it's eating away too much of my time.

    That could be any version. What does it say in the web interface?

    Thanks.
    It's OSCAM 1.20-unstable_svn build #7365.
    Would a stable one be preferred, or should I stick with the latest build, or any other version?

    WINCSC reports a keyleg jumping between 100ms and 480ms at hop 3. Mostly on the 480ms value or so.
    If hop 2 is 200ms for example, and hop3 is 480ms, does that mean that form hop 2 to hop3 my delay is 280ms?
    That value is from a lan connection...
    Do you suppose that is the reason for my troubles? Can I reduce it somehow? Why does the voice go out of sync?

    caid is fine.
    I get smooth sailing using cccam, or oscam, when I connect/watch directly (ECM is at about the 200 mark).
    The problem is when I try to reshare it to anther box (that will be hop 3 I guess).
    ESM on the third box, I'm not yet too sure how to check it... maybe through the web interface... "CW rate", is that it?
    It's currently zeroed out, so I will need to check that at a later date.
    It's seems like newcamed doesn't like to play nice...

    I'm using oscam-experimental (1.20-r4.1), will that be the preferred version to use?
    How can I verify if it's an ECM lag, as you say? It doesn't "feel" like a regular freeze would... Is it suppose to work ok for the setup I described? Other ideas? Can I use the configs at a different way in order to check?
    At the 3rd hop, I'm using progdvb with wincsc, or openbox x5, to check the connection to the newcamd server.
    Tested both as a local box on my lan, and over the net.
    I understand my configs are at least probably not the problem.

    I'm trying to oscamed a test card (my cousin with permission) to see if it's feasible, and how would you go about doing it.
    It works, but with the above constraints...
    We are just messing around to see what's up, and trying to learn.

    What do you believe to be the possible causes for the disruption? Did I setup it as I was supposed to?
    How can I improve my config?

    I've a viewing disruption at every key change and the audio sync goes out of whack because of it.

    oscam.conf

    Code
    [newcamd]
    port                          = 40001@0919:000000
    serverip 			= ####.####.####.####
    key                           = 0102030405060708091011121314
    keepalive                  = 1

    oscam.server

    oscam.user

    Code
    [account]
    user                          = user
    pwd                           = pass
    group                         = 2
    monlevel                      = 0
    au                            = 1
    cccreshare                    = 4
    keepalive                     = 1

    How to modify this line to specify a port range?

    CWS= ip 30000 user pass 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

    Incorrect syntaxes:
    CWS= ip 30000:30010 user pass 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
    CWS= ip 30000-30010 user pass 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14
    CWS= ip 30000 30010 user pass 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

    Can I download the newcamd.list file from the box to view it?

    use cccam protocol unless you really need to use newcamd.

    all docs for oscam are here:-

    Code
    http://www.streamboard.tv/svn/oscam/trunk/Distribution/doc/txt/

    Thank you for that. A useful link.
    A lot of information to sort through...

    At the moment I prefer to learn to use oscam, and from what I can tell, I can only use cccam through oscam as a reader, but not as a server.
    I can't put an F line in there, can I?

    Quote

    port = port[{DES key}]@CAID[:provid][,provid]...[;port[{DES key}]@CAID[:provid][,provid]...]...
    TCP port/DES key/CAID/provid definitions, default:none

    example: port = 10000@0100:100000;20000{0102030405060708091011121314}@0200:200000,300000

    Each CAID requires a separate port. If you don't specify a DES key for a port, the default DES key will be used.

    According to the information there, I can answer my second question, which is that a separate port is indeed required.

    Which lead me to another related question:
    How do I specify port range in open box x5 with newcamd?

    I have this line currently:
    CWS= IP 20000 user password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

    Trying 2000:2010 or 2000-2010 didn't seems to do the trick.

    Is there an adverse affect on performance using multiple ports?
    Is it better to put multiple N lines in cccam.cfg instead?

    Add cccam protocol..

    oscam.conf

    Code
    [cccam]
    port                          = 46000
    nodeid                        = A1B2C3D4E5F6G7H8
    version                       = 2.2.1
    reshare                       = 1
    updateinterval                = 120

    Sorry if i'm mistaken, I'm still learning and don't know much, but isn't this for using cccam as a reader (i.e. client)?

    I'll look into it later. Thanks.

    Try changing the "prefer audio stored by service" to no

    Great tip, bud! Tip of the hat to you. beer10

    Finally, the preferred audio track setting seems to work it's magic.
    I can still select manually an audio track, if I choose to, but if I change the audio for example to polish and then switch back to the channel, it reselect the correct English audio track - PERFECT! I also tested it for an "undetermined" audio track, and it just worked!

    I didn't yet tested it thoroughly, to see if it choose correctly at other audio tracks names, but at least it I can say, very quickly, it works much better now.
    Thanks a million!

    This setting should come OFF as a default! Otherwise it's just ruin stuff.

    but on the other hand, if you leave it as yes, then you can select English manually on a particular channel and it will remember this choice (in theory anyway!).

    I can tell you in practice, not in theory, that it doesn't work, and it's much better to disable it.
    In my case, it always forgets it eventually, I still didn't figure it out exactly why and when, maybe it's because I have about 6000 services in my favorites and it's overloaded. Also, it will NOT auto select the correct audio track which you had configured.

    It is simple enough anyway to press the audio button and choose the preferred language, so it shouldn't really be causing you so much stress that you are reaching for the Valium!

    I myself can cope with this annoyance somehow. but... I'm setting this up for my parents and I need it to be as much as user friendly as possible.

    In your audio language selection - there is no point selecting the same language option 3 times. Select English first, Undetermined second (if you have it) and original as the third - this is how I have mine.

    Yeah, I know. It's was for testing purposes only out of desperation. English is the only language i'm interested in anyway, so I thought I will drill it in. hahaha.
    I don't have an "undetermined" setting, but base on one channel that I checked, it does seems to work for it also.
    It seems to have a much more PREDICTABLE behavior now, with the setting turned off.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Now... I need your help for a similar problem, but for the subtitles this time.
    I need it in English and to remember/auto select it on it's own.
    Alot of the time, I see that instead of selecting the English subtitle track, which, in this case, it is named appropriately - English, it creates a non-existing, no-named, empty sub track, which it defaults to.
    After selecting the correct sub track, the empty sub track disappear.
    Is there, by any chance, also a "prefer subs stored by service" setting? =]
    I'm testing currently on MMX FESTIVAL at 7E.
    After much difficulties and wasted time, I arrived at something which look like this:
    [newcamd]
    key = 0102030405060708091011121314
    port = 45000@1803:000000,007001,007101;45001@0919:000000
    It works, but it isn't what I'm looking for.
    What I want to do is to include all the caids available without specifying them manually one by one.
    Also, clarify it for me:
    1. Do I have to specify each and every idents? Can't I just include them all?
    2. Do I have to use different port for each caid? Can't I do it like a c line with one port?
    3. Can I use OScam as a cccam server and connect to it using a c line?
    4. Do you have a link for common syntax examples?
    A bit of help will be appreciated. :sad:
