I'm trying to upgrade a DM500 with oscam server. It has run before so I'll just switch. Bin file, but I can not seem to find such a one that should work on a DM500? So far, it only succeeds in destroying the setup so that it does not work anymore.

Possibly a dodgy usb stick you are using if its greyed out...maybe try reformatting to fat32 with hp format tool..

As already pointed out too 27ºw stopped working some time ago for BISS keys..
If you want to see what you can recieve in a certain area from ASTRA then use their official chart..
( although it is not 100% correct in my case )

Sounds like you are using a non compatible oscam bin file...
Zeus appears to be working fine although i do agree with stevejo that it is pointless upgrading if everything is already ok...that old saying that you should not fix what aint broke is true !

im not really bothered about losing them because as i say perhaps i have installed something i shouldn't have..i have cccam installed...so how do i back just that up?

keys are not necessary for astra 28.xºE and never have been.
Haha why dont you tell me something i do not know...of course i am aware of this but we were talking about I®deto on other sats or the possibilty of hacked keys on other encryptions.

for all i know the problem might have been caused by myself messing about with settings..what do you think?
Which settings are you worried about losing? the image i was going to send you is zeus(vix) so if you have an older image the settings might not be compatible...really the settings you should backup is your cccam.cfg/newcamd.list...whatever you use and thats it...its all set up otherwise for 28.2
as i said im not new to seen have build a few ubuntu servers as well as used other forms of hardwear and understand how cfgs work .
If you are not new to the cs scene and also building linux servers then what is your question? i am finding it hard to understand what you are talking about/and or what you are asking,,,,if you know how configs work then what is it you really are asking? confused.com.
The HDD is a seagate.
Thank you for the offer and that would be great to try, but that sounds a little over my head, i cant say i prefer vix image as its all i know because it came installed when i bought the box.
My hdd is also a seagate:)
Learn how to backup your image/settings and configs...its easy.
I will upload an image and send it to you via pm...best i send vix tbh as thats what you are used to....all you do is put the vuplus extracted (yellow) folder on a fat32 usb stick and put the stick in the front usb port and power on the box///after that you only need to mount your hdd...simples

Display More10°E is a great idea, but, unfortunately, they have a fixed dish, and would lose too many channels on 28.2°E. I had a look at the 10°E footprint, and it looks like they would get quite a good signal, unlike me, in Scotland!
They have a steady 5meg down speed and .3 up. They seem to be able to stream movies well, but not the UK basic channels. Being X-pats, they like these basic channels, so I think I will suggest a motor. Obviously, that would give them a whole new perspective.

You need to stop compairing uk and spanish signals mate/// and i realize they have a fixed dish as i used to fit dishes in that area lolz.
And going down the motor route will cost your sister a fortune so forget that...my recommendation was based on your sister wanting live bbc channels so i was suggesting a seperate dish that is then used via diseqc or on a twin tuner box.
I´ve just tested 10º E here on the northern coast of Spain getting a 55% signal fluctuating..
Seems an i***** card is needed so not opening for me..
BBC1- BBC1 delay ,, etc..

I,m afraid not everything is free in this world cazuela and thats the reason you have a black screen in your testing...what did you expect? keys were available before in cryptoworks but providers change things dont they.
BFBS has a subscription base and its what most people will have to do now if they want what macsporrans sibling wants...bbci player is for catchup cazuela...an option of course but BFBS will be available via cs....and thats what we do here is it not?

Thanks for the input lads. I've been trying alternatives like IPTV and TSmedia for them, but channels like BBC1 keep dropping out after a few minutes, although it's good here. I have a feeling that Telefo***a has something to do with this. They don't use them as ISP, but I think they own the line. If anyone has a reliable alternative for my Sis and bro-in-law to watch BBC & ITV, please let me know.

Your sibling is going to struggle big time on the costa for channels on astra 2e macsporran...spot beams active now and thats why they are loosing channels in the coast of the sun:)..also....looking at the footprint i would even dought that a 2.4 andrews would help so i would suggest looking at alternatives on 10 east/and or 27.5 west.
Ps telefonica will have **** broadband...dought it would be good for streaming at the best of times....

Without Knowledge of your current mg_cfg file its a lottery trying to decipher what your issue really is.
Well this is interesting as i have an identical setup to Dave20/// i have a 4 year old trojan bombproof vu duo with a 500gig hdd/// i have also always directed my picons towards the hdd because i use permanent timeshift anyway so my hdd is always working and i have no issues whatsoever//1 second channel changes on subscription channels too !
Dave20 it sounds like you have had a bad flash or you have installed something you should not have/i do not use tools like tspanel so something like this may have caused this or maybe even a dodgy hdd(what model of hdd do you have)?...anyway i actually have a backup of a vix image i know worked well for me which i can send via pm if this is the image you prefer...i am using OpenPli atm but i can load the vix back up and check everything is all well and send.

is this ver of oscam updating card as have tried a fair few ver lately ? and what ver is this image is it 15.0 or 15.ob ?
The thread header clearly states that it is v15.0 which was the latest version available at the time when i posted this backup image...however an online update will upgrade this image to the latest available version which is currently 15.0b.
Oscam was also updating 0963 cards on this image yes(tested) as stevejo says people get impatient when they do not see emms being written but its mainly because they dont understand that particular emms could be blocked depending on how configs were setup.....unique is the only allowed emm within the configs of this image which can now take days to arrive !

What am I doing wrong
Its possible you are using a screwed up version of dcc mate....the version i have is (DCC v2.96 by BernyR) which i seldom use but i know this version works 100%
You have been given 2 warnings in your telnet output/1 is the pass is too short and the other being too weak and it also looks like telnet is waiting on a new password again...i,m also not sure if you are typing this from telnet or whether you copied and pasted it but the spelling is all a bit pete tong..forgive me if you typed this as we all make mistakes however its just i was worried this was what the version of dcc you are using has sent output data that looks wrong.
I would recommend that you use putty for this task anyway.... http://www.chiark.greenend.org…atham/putty/download.html
If your password is now unknown and you cant reset it with an e2 root password changer then reflash the box and use putty...also choose a password with minimum 6 characters and after which there should be no need to reboot either as almost all linux commands take immediate effect instantly !
P.s if you get the warning that your 6 character password is too weak you will end up having to enter the password 3 times instead of entering it twice...if memory serves me correct that is.

tired a random pin
tried with the parental lock off in oscam
channels work in original box
tried it with the whitelist/without the whitelist
even made my own whitelist.
Has anyone got any suggestions ?
It must be working as i wouldnt get it from peers

Which version of oscam are you currently using?
There were problems with oscam clearing these channels in the past i believe.
Dont understand why this is not required with 0963 cards ,it is required to stop peers taking the mick
I have never had to use it although my server is private so i dont have multiple clients attached that i dont know or trust...unless people are running payservers then why the need..as you know its easy to monitor if a client is taking the piss and then that idiot should have their account disabled/ip banned as your better off without them anyway.
