would it be possible to write a linux based software version for the humax which would include all the desired features ? is there technicaly a reason why not ? i assume it would be a very experianced and dedicated person or team if it were possible ! there are literally millions of those units out there cos they were sold everywhere from argos to tesco ! £££ expensive though £££ :06:

No, the Humax, etc, is a pure satellite receiver. The Dreams, Vu+ and the rest are basically mini computers running Linux operating system which are, more or less, married with a sat receiver to make a powerful tool to use to watch sat tv.

    Thanks for the reply
but I have sent Cline as to all others and DynDNS behind the F line
it is he who has sent N line.I Have read about Nline and I do not
send to someone I use only C line
I use illegal user scripts with CCcam check and baan script on my box
But it is best to remove his line and stop sharing with him, I think

    Yes, I would bin him.

Thanks caz, something I've learned today...

The 'yes' is not part of the 'F' line syntax and probably cause the Fline not to work. The various numbers for Flines are below. He could be confusing it with the 'yes / no' for accepting EMU's from you. These go in the Cline. If it were me, I'd leave it out - the Fline syntax gives YOU control of what your peers can and can't see.

    F: user password 3 1 0 { 0:0:5 }
user gets all our cards at max distance(hops) of 3
He has the right to use our emu keys 1, no rights to emu keys change into 0
He has NO AU rights 0, right for AU change into 1

    Furthermore he has the right to reshare all our cards 4 more times { 0:0:5 }
When number is here { 0:0:1 } he can only watch himself and he has no reshare rights.
NEVER GO ABOVE NUMBER 5!! because the distance is to far then.

I think this will work within a local network but i am sure the streams from within webif have a furthur port associated

You're correct. Madbriuk, have a look at these sites (happy reading)

The HomePlug Powerline Alliance is a group of electronics manufacturers, service providers, and retailers that establishes standards for, and tests members' devices for compliance to, the various power line communication technologies known as HomePlug.
The alliance has developed several different standards that support broadband applications such as in-home distribution of TV, gaming, broadband Internet and other content. It also developed a high-reliability, low-power and extended temperature specification to support smart power meters and in-home communications between electric systems and appliances. The alliance tests for interoperability and certifies products based on the HomePlug specification and the IEEE 1901 powerline standard. The organization has 69 members and has certified over 200 products.

Suggests that same spec plugs are compatable with each other.

How to Flash a Vu+ Solo receiver by USB

In my experience it looks like the box is doing nothing at all. Make sure you have nothing in the rear usb port and watch for the led on your usb dongle to start flashing. When it's flashing data is being transferred - be patient and go make a cuppa tea / coffee and ignore your solo for 10 mins. All shoud be ok now, remove usb stick and re-boot.

I have some vouchers giving ?150 lazer eye surgery. They were given to me when I had the surgery done a couple of months ago.
They are actually ?300 off (split 50 / 50). If anyone interested in having this procedure done please pm me and I'll post one out to you.

    ;pNo, mine (I insist)

so you would buy this one instead of a 0.1db?

Weird thing is that the alps are recommended with my dish. But why do they recommend something wich you cannot get a propor signal with. I have clean view to the satellites and im living on 2nd floor, so that is not the problem.

What signal streangth is enough. If i get over 90, is that fine or what?

The Inverto black is a fantastic lnb for the money.
However, alot of people only look at the s/n db figure thinking that lower is better. In a way, it is. Another spec that has to be taken into consideration is the conversion gain of the lnb, this is how much (in db's) the received signal, after conversion, is amplified. Granted, the inverto has "only" a 0.2db s/n but it has one of the highest conversion gains on the lnb market.
You would see much better results with inverto's but (and this is why the alps uni are recommended for your dish) it depends on the spacing required between each of the lnb's where they are fitted. The alps have a very narrow profile allowing much closer satellite spacing.
Hope that all makes sense to you.

vu duo 1.2 fibo i can get 45east to 53 west ? but 7 west nile sat is very weak all other ok ? i am in north west uk

Nice set up pem1, I also have a 1.2m Fibo Gregorian dish. Quite fortunate with my location as I have an undisturbed view of the Southern sky.

Arc is about 50E to 58W with not much useful in the outer limits, concentrate mainly 36E to 30W with, like you, a struggle with 7W most of the time. I'm in the West Midlands.
For those who don't know what a gregorian dish is, this is the 90cm version. They really are the dogz nutz

Has CS a future - who knows. In this hobby there is always the unknown. We play a chasing game, the providers will always try to stop piracy and we will always try to develop a way around any protective measures they put into place.
As an example, Sky Italia did some tests, about 6 months ago, to counteract sharing. The measures they tried worked at the time. Why was the security not left in place? I don't know, was ccCam modified to counteract or did the measures they put into place affect their subscriber base.
Enjoy what we have for as long as we have it.
