then your set to go as mckee said earlier
    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade
i would also install ssh sudo apt-get install ssh
if you get sudo isnt found error
reboot the machine and on startup hold the tab key, this will take you to the grub recovery screen, you will see your windows install there as well, but ignore that for now :)
scroll down to recovery and then select check file system, this will mount the system /rw , then select login as root, you can then add yourself to the sudoers group
adduser sudo whatever your name is or it could be adduser whatever your name is sudo sorry its been a while from ive done it
reboot the system and it should go to the grub screen again, select ubuntu or windows, you may get a windows mbr error

let the updates run it might take a while depending on the speed of the pc and and internet connection

where did you install grub to? if you didnt change the default path it should be ok, and you'll only get an option to boot into windows if you had it installed before ubuntu, installing windows after will cause all sorts of boot problems using grub.

you can set ubuntu to use free space on the drive, make sure you defragment the windows partition first, you will then get the option to boot into ubuntu or windows on startup but be prepared for a windows mbr error, make sure you read on how to fix this before the install and have a windows disk handy

The only option is trial and error, start with the dish near vertical and slowly sweep across the arc, if you dont pick up anything adjust dish up or down and slowly sweep across again, and repeat untill you hit the sat you want then fine tune.
Remember you are trying to point a dish at an object the size of a caravan hundreds of miles away

i built my own router using ipcop, it has an Intel Atom CPU D2700 @ 2.13GHz with 2gig of ram and a OCZ-VECTOR150 120gig ssd and connected a tp-link something or other as an access point.
Some may call it overkill lol

is it maybe a dns issue? homehubs always seem to have an issue with that every now and again, if you can get your hands on another router just to check?
Ive had infinity for years but wouldnt use a homehub, they are too locked down and the firmware upgrades are a joke, check when the last auto firmware update was and if your issues started around that time, i bet they did.

I came across some photos of this build that i had forgot about (made this in the summer)
Total cost of parts just for this build was 2 quid. They were a a network coupler and a micro usb extension cable, the rest of the bits i had sitting about.
I found the tv in the local dump 22inch no brand, took it home and all that was wrong with it was dodgy caps on the power supply, got them fixed in work for nothing.
The DVD player didnt work on the tv but that wasn't important as it needed removed for the pi to go in.

all unneeded parts and wires removed and pi installed

I needed to make something to fill the gap the removed DVD player left and to fix the micro usb, network coupler and usb for the keyboard
i used thick black card and used epoxy resin to glue them in

i take it that this box your using has a *gift* and you arent sharing your own card??? if you are sharing your own card then its a port forwarding issue and the changing of the isps and ip's is upsetting your clients causing stuttering.

if its a payserver your using you wont get any help here....thems the rules

No i did try it and openwrt on my tplink router but ended up building my own router/access point running ipcop http://www.ipcop.org/
I found dd-wrt had a load of stuff i didnt need and if you use openwrt you need to installl a usb stick as root if you want to install any more than about 5 modules as the memory wasnt big enough.
Both dd-wrt and openwrt would crash after about 2 weeks as the router couldnt cope with the usage it was getting.
I have had no such problem with ipcop, all you need is any old pc and an extra ethernet card and you can use your current router as an access point, although depending on your usage this may be overkill
