@ all struggling with setting up OpenVPN ("manual setup") in E2
Unless I am terribly mistaken, there is a small difference between Surfshark and the rest of them, when it comes to OpenVPN "manual" setup....
So, the difference between Surfshark OpenVPN (= manual setup for Enigma2) and the rest of VPN providers is just one file, where they keep one of the encryption keys. Surfshark have them both in .ovpn file, while others split them in two ("cert" and ".ovpn" file, while "auth" file, if memory serves, is for username/password). The principle is the same.
So, for other VPN providers who do not know how/don't bother to put both OpenVPN keys in one file (ovpn), you just need to add that extra file with the the other OpenVPN key.
Your username and password should go to the VPN Manager py file, as described in detail by me (you can even do it using your remote controller).
Good luck!
P.S. I urge you not to put the .ovpn files on a Hard Disk, which has moving parts - but on USB stick or SSD or mSD, perhaps even the flash (I wouldn't - so when I have to reinstall - everything is ready for me on my USB stick, so that saves time, too).
P.P.S. If you have older, weaker machines with 400 - 750MHz processors - this might not work very well (or at all), since OpenVPN encryption might need more firepower, like newer STBs with quad core 1.5GHz processor and enough RAM....

Post no. 2 will help you understand what is going on with Surfshark and then you will see that other VPN providers have one more file, an additional "key" file: PROTECT YOUR STB WITH SURFSHARK VPN SERVICE
Of course, this is for a different plugin, which is included in OE-A images, probably in OpenPLi, too...:cool1:
But I explained the principles, so it's easy to understand, once you sit down and read a bit... ;)
I mean, even I managed to get it, so.... :rasta2bigsmoke0gf1:

Haven't you got a storage device?

Haven't you got a storage device?
There is a HDD directory but it's not accessible ....
but when I switch to OpenAtv from OpenPLI ....The hdd folder is there.

The script uses media/HDD.
So download your configs to usb then use vpn manager to set it up

Hi, I hope you can help me; i installed openvpn on openpli 7.3 on my gigablue uhd 4k and then openvpn manager and everything works perfectly. Now I would like to create a secure line with the vpn between me and my father.
-
What's the problem? Everything as usual (DynDNS and all), except....
OpenVPN Manager on his STB and on yours, too. Peace!
-
the problem is how to configure the server side and the client side; I've never done it and I don't know how. If I had a step by step guide, everything would be easier for me.
-
Each of you should have installed OpenVPN Manager and connect normally.
The connection is done via a OSCam > DynDNS, port, username and password.
You should be the READER/server/peer and he should be a client/user.
In the world's first E2 guide, written by yours truly, on page 53 and onward, you will find such a detailed guide...:don-t_mention:

Can someone help me to configure surfshark VPN on my device?
Because I installed OpenVPN first, then followed the instructions in the surfshark tutorial:
https://support.surfshark.com/…-Zgemma-STB-with-Enigma2-
But when I turn on OpenVPN, and check the IP, my IP still appears instead of the chosen country IP.
-
I sent them a proper one, so they should put it up soon...
In the meantime, take my pdf and work precisely as described....

Hello,
i was trying out the vpnmanager and generated the script using : https://e2openvpn.com/OpenVPN_Generator/
On Zgemma H7S dual partition using Pure2 6.5 and PIA
When copying and executing the command, this was the result:
______________________________________________________________________________________
Connecting to raw.githubusercontent.com|151.101.120.133|:443... connected.
HTTP request sent, awaiting response... 200 OK
Length: 3107 (3,0K) [text/plain]

downloading VPN Manager
Installing VPN Manager
Installing OpenVPN
Downloading OpenVPN Configs
Configuring OpenVPN
mv: can't rename '* *': No such file or directory
OpenVPN Configs Downloaded Please Start OpenVPN
Please enter your choice:

When trying to connect it responds with AUTH_FAIL . Ofcourse I double checked my credentials and I am using the X1234567 login name from PIA.
Anybody a suggestion what is going wrong?
thank you
tom
PS: I reviewed the PIA script and the move to subdir seems not to function. But I do no know why.
same happens on Openatv 6.4 on second partition
-
Some images seem to have issues with script, can you download the https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/openvpn/openvpn.zip configs and unzip and send all files to hdd/PIA_VPN
-
The script does that already.
renaming and moving the files to the subdir goes wrong.
# rename .ovpn to .conf
#for x in *.ovpn; do mv "$x" "${x%.ovpn}.conf"; done
# Move all files into sub folders
#for file in *; do
# if [[ -f "$file" ]]; then
# mkdir "${file%.*}"
# mv "$file" "${file%.*}"
# fi
#done
