You cannot delete software manager it is part of the image, and I don't have a dreambox so don't know if you can flash online.

you are just pressing menu button and I can't remeber for 6.4 if it is
Menu > setup > Sortware Management > Flash online
But you cannot flashonline with restore settings from openatv6.6 to 7***

If I update an HS2 to the latest version of Openatv7.6 it will be in german, how do I change the language? Also I have an usb 16gb for the epg and the odd download do I still need to create a swap file. Box will be used for watching channels only, no recording , no timeshift.

You are prompted for the language as soon as it boots.

I did few a while back and saw no prompt? Is it red button? I can find in the menus but not able to tell a person how to get to it. I used restore settings from 6.4 and getting weird effects, if I close epg it does a software encounter fault and I get another message “ the auto timer file shows location is corrupt, and I can’t delete a skin. Reaully weird

you should not restore settings between version numbers i,e, 6 to 7 just start with clean flash.

I just realised that and now having problems!! I was just lazy, posted these on other thread, setup.

I seldom have issues with restoring setting between image lines/versions. The only things that are affected is defaults. You'd soon find out if there was an issue and can change it. Besides, ATV do not have an option to avoid the restore, you have to delete the backup files. Yuk!
Starting clean and setting up from scratch and only using plugins on the plugin server one at a time is always safest option and is what to do if you encounter problems after you have flashed and then restored or updated.
Anyway, to resolve your language issue, stop enigma2 with the following command using Putty
Codeinit 4Then FTP to /etc/enigma2/ and edit the file called "settings"
Edit the lines that start with following and amend them if required.
Codeconfig.misc.country=GB config.misc.language=en config.misc.locale=en_GB config.osd.language=en_GBSave, transfer back ( ensures it completes) and then restart with following command in Putty

Things have moved on and to fix I had to create multiboot on my HS2 and then flashed Opentav 7.6 as a clean install and you are right first thing that pops up is language selection. I'll keep the above just in case. I have another query on the discussion thread.

Got another hs2 box to do now so started from scratch and nosed around. I have asked elsewhere but can I disable geolocation and is it a requirement to have intenet access once box is set up.
I know I can use VPN , would rather not but don't know how to install one in enigma2 box yet.
