  • you can change password using passwd command or set ftp "passwordless" (which is my favourite option for local access) . Second option require some change in pam or s4aupdater plugin that will do it for You.

  • directly from the menu of your image, go to / menu / parameters / system / network and password setup and then with your remote control and the numeric keypad, write the password you want, then green button to save, a countdown will indicate that the password is saved and you can use it immediately....

  • .People are right. You didn't do something right. I tried to put a password on the dreambox 720 and it won't. I change the password on the putty program, but it doesn't work on the total commander on the DCC program. It only works correctly when changing the password openatv-7.3-dm7020hd-20230503. nfi. These other images that you throw out have a problem with the password. I mean dreambox 720hd

  • .I tried to install opena 7.3 on a dreambox 720 hd and I don't know why you blocked the password so that it can't be changed and you are throwing out the opena tv image. What is the password that I can access and change. You don't need to tell me how to change the password because I know that. It can only be changed to the opena tv image that you released in May, and the other Opena tv images cannot be changed. I don't understand why you are throwing out the Opena tv 7.3 image if it can't be done. to change the password.

  • I did all that because I know how to change the password. On every one of your Opena tv image for dreambox 720hd, only this one openatv-7.3-dm7020hd-20230503.nfi, on which the password can be changed, does not work.

    It's not up to me, it's up to your Opena TV image. So if I can change the password on this Opena TV image and I can't with the new ones that came out, it means something is wrong with them. I think you should check it before you delete it. Greetings.

  • Of course I did, because on this Open TV that I wrote, I changed the password without any problem. But depending on the new ones that came out, I tried them all and it won't change the password on any of them. I mean the dreambox 720hd.

    Login with putty in Telnet mode (NOT SSH), then type command passwd, and it will allow to setup a password (you will have to enter it twice).

    This done, your box will be accessible via FTP (WinSCP) and SSH (Putty), naturally as well Telnet (Putty or Windows Command Line)

    The OpenATV preset password, could be "dreambox"...

  • .I also tried that via kitt and Telnet-läge and with ssh, but it doesn't work. It shows that the password has been changed, but when I start it via ftp or total commander or telnet, it won't open it. On putty, it's like I get access and enter the dreambox 720 hd, but when I want to connect via ftp, it doesn't allow it. It's logical that, if it gives me access to the one opena tv where I can change the password, it's logical that it should also give me access to these other opena tvs image that I tried.

  • Try WinSCP software for FTP/SSH like tasks, like file transfers,

    Once you are in, you can replace the MD5 password hash, by nothing, and restart from zero to setup the password, file should be "shadow", in /etc

    root::19525:0:99999:7:::

    Better is to create a file and remove the shadow, then rename the created file to shadow

  • It is not necessary to use telnet if you want to change the password. The password must be the same one you use in the FTP tool (my password is the standard "dreambox"). If you cannot connect, check the FTP status in Menu - Settings - System - Network - FTP Settings.

  • Friends, that's what I did. Yours is dreambox 900hd and mine is dreambox 720hd. When I change the password, my FTP is red and there is no access. I have dreambox 720, dreambox two, dreambox 800hd, dreambox 800pvr, and I've never had that happen. Every password change went without a problem. I said that on this dreambox 720 hd I changed the password to opena tv, but only on openatv-7.3-dm7020hd-20230503.nfi on these that came out, opena tv blocks me.
