  • Hello everyone ..

I have been searching the last week for the perfect Iptv box but I can’t seem to work it out… my mother has trouble with watching tv on a simple amiko tv box , she finds it to difficult , is there any portal or Iptv box which I can use to watch channels only , no option for apps no vos just the ui of an old satellite receiver with the option to make a fav list and import m3u link , it has to boot up straight to the channels no extra things . Please help me out guys

  • Depends on which country you live in + which IPTV you want to use.
With the help of jedimakerxtream you can create a bouquet with the IPTV channels on any IPTV-capable SAT/CABLE/DVB-T receiver

& if you assign the first channel as the START channel, then the BOX starts on this channel .

And you can then zap further with the channel +/- buttons.
If it is available in your country you can of course also use something like this: https://www.waipu.tv/stick/

    Receiver AX HD51 4k & Zgemma H7s & AXAS 4K Ultra HD in my house. All with OATV7.6.0 & HDF7.5#62 in mutiboot .

  • Hello , I live in the Netherlands and the channels are mostly from morroco , the tv stick you mentioned looks like an android tv stick , comparable do a mii stick, but my mother has dementia and it’s very hard for her to use Android based boxes, I am trying to get something like an Linux set top box with the same interface of an satellite receiver without any apps or extras

    comparable do a mii stick

If you already have an android tv stick install Tivimate player app.

It can be set to startup straight to channels on launch of the stick, bypassing the usual option for all other apps.

IPTV Providers Fav list is already configured as soon as the m3u is imported (doesn`t come with any subscriptions).

TV guide with full 7 day EPG has a simple layout and is very easy to navigate.

  • Already tried tivimate but somehow she manages to exit and go back to the home portal of Android , also because almost all android boxes has the home option to go back to it on the remote control so it really has to be Linux and dedicated to tv only

Tivimate Settings > General > Enable Auto start app on boot.

If she manages to exit and go back to the home page, tell her to just reboot the stick by turning it off completely at the wall switch / power plug. It will go straight back into the channels again about 10 seconds after booting.

Insert a Remote Power Plug... and when she has a problem (if she has Wifi), you can remotely reboot the box easily.

You install the Tuya App, and then can remotely turn off/on power.... and as Android Box is autoboot on app, then it should work out.

  • Okay guys thanks for the effort all, so there is literally no actual Linux product that just works plain simple like an old satellite receiver, I think bringing one to the market would be a goldmine haha.. lots of old folks don’t know how to use Android stb,s and other streaming devices

You can take any old box (Dreambox, VU+, etc) and install OpenPLi on it (if not available install my OpenPLi 8.xStar that work with most old boxes), and with EnigmaTV IPTV Generator, copy the IPTV list on the Channel List... and it will be done, working.

    just watching live tv

Octagon SX88 V2 4K UHD Dual OS / Dual boot Satellite + IP TV Receiver

Octagon SX988 Dual OS Enigma 2 + Octagon Define Linux Client Set top box

These offer DefineOS firmware which mimics an old style simple satellite receiver layout.

It also has enigma2 where you can make use of the other firmware and plugins mentioned above by the other guys.

Which model was the "simple amiko tv box" you already have?

  • it really has to be Linux and dedicated to tv only

    What is your budget?

Will there be recording or anything else specific to her needs?

No options needed just watching live tv , budget around 100 eur

Any box, also second hand, that is enigma2,

Here is for example boxes I would choose (with openpli 8.xstar image support, be careful of the Sim... as if you need a new sim it will cost you money, so better to buy a box that is already fully supported on the list with the right sim, eg DM800HDseV2 is for today's need of your mother just fine) : http://openpli8xstar.japhar.net/OpenPLi

The best bet... under 100 USD... second hand DM525HD Combo (It has with the right software, IPTV + Satellite + Terrestrial)... and is cheap, supports H265 (but not UHD which is for me mostly useless)...
