Friend just offered me this one...
Its lying around unused at his place!
Will it work?
I can't see why not, as long as the menu will allow it to be put into 'bridge mode'.

Will get it off him and have a look so :)
Thanks!
It can't run dd-wrt which is a shame.
So that means? :(
dd-wrt is great router firmware with pretty much every feature in it. So if you can get a 2nd hand router that can be flashed with dd-wrt you should be good to use it as a bridge.
search auction site for DIR-615
they can run DDWRT and costs about ?11 delivered, Bargain!
Home for the weekend and was looking at the router set up there..
Can't find the bridge mode... Any other thing it could be called?
What router is it?

That one!......
Will try this soon! Using WPN824, WGR614, or WGT624 Routers as an Access Point
Not sure you will get that to be a wireless bridge.
Most of the dedicated access points / Repeaters will work
You need to be set them to Repeater Mode. Then you can put the credentials of the wireless router you want to connect to (Bridge). Once you have done that it will act as a wireless repeater for the router and also as a bridge from the rear Ethernet port.
could these home plugs be used on a ubuntu server pc for keeping connections? or does it have to be hard wired up with ethernet cable
They could be used for a server and would work, however depending on how many connections you had on your server you could experience problems.
For a reliable server connection always have it hardwired, for individual set top use Home plugs or WIFI dongles are fine.
Bypass all this patch up technology and wire the house with cat6 cable. In reality, Wireless N 150/300/600 & gigabit homeplugs only have a small fraction of the bandwidth that you can enjoy with a wired LAN.
The max speed I ever got out of my Gigabit Homeplugs was 40MB, Wireless N 300 was 47MB. My Gigabit LAN runs at over 100MB 24/7 & there is no interference from other devices..
I have 4 rooms wired with Gigabit connections & the whole setup only cost about £100. Its a bit of work but you will be very happy with the results..
