Being born in 1952 I remember it all lol. We went shopping with our parents and never locked the front door, came back one day, it had rained while were were out and neighbour had taken washing off the line (it was a Monday) and puut it in our kitchen. A friend and I cycled to Nottingham city center and parked our bikes on the kerb and came back 3 hours later and they were still there. Had a clip round the ear from the local bobby for breaking a window.
The list could go on and on - the good old days indeed...

Yes, TG, hello. There's nothing like a good curry (I should know lol) to sort things out. Let us all know what the problem was in the end, this will help others out.

As Caz says, you need no dyn acc or port forward so it sounds like a simple c / f line error.
Set up something really simple like::-

    C: yourdnsaddy port user pass
    F: user pass

If that works ok then add the numbers to suit. (Drop me an email if you like)

Just to add to the discussion - I'm sure that homes with multi room subs have to have both of their Sly boxes connected to a 'phone line so that they can check that both the cards are being used at the same address.

Other important points about your Multiroom Subscription

    • Each Multiroom subscription you take out can only be viewed at the same Address as your first *** digital subscription.

    • The Box used to receive your first *** digital subscription must always be connected to a fixed and operational telephone line while any Multiroom subscription is in place. All the Boxes used to receive your Multiroom subscription(s) must also be connected to this line and number and you must let us collect information through this line, including your telephone number (caller line identification or CLI).

I use the Solwise 200 meg ones. Oh, I can stream hd movies from my nas with no glitches, I suppose it depends on the quality of your network, router, cables etc.

I use VLC media player. Most of my music and all of my video files are stored on a pc in my attic room. VLC media player has been installed on all other pc's / laptops and media is sucessfully streamed between them. I can even use it to stream programs from my Vu+ to my pc's.

"The way i see it things are going to eventually go down the same route as Power Vu. There are going to be no cards and each receiver will be authorised as and when needed."

this was the chosen route of the old BSB (squarial) system about 15 years or so ago. dont know what happened to that but it did not last long.

BSB (British Satellite Broadcasting) started broadcasting it's 5 channels in March 1990, 13 months after *** Television. In November 1990 BSB and *** Television merged to form a single company offically known as British Satellite Broadcasting.

yes i agree, nothing is free, if you want something, you got to give aswell, or pay for a cline.

i think this is why it is called 'cardsharring'.

And paying for one is something we don't condone on this forum.

glad you got resolved . not heard of them supplying modem only yet . would be the best way to be honest . some of my family use virgin in the uk and can't even sucessfully make a ***pe call to me in europe without dropouts

They no longer supply modems only, mine was one of the older stock they supplied to 50 meg customers prior to the release of the 'super hub'.
The evential release of the firmware upgrade R28 will allow, what is called, 'bridge mode'. This will allow, through the hub's setup menu, the modem function of the hub to be 'software seperated' from the router section. This has the benifit of being able to use the router of your choice, therefore greatly improving the service allowing greater flexibility for things like voip, ***pe and port forwarding among others. Should be a vast improvement.

They are blaming the superhub for the issues but fact remains that there network has not the infrastructure and uplinks to support the current network capacity. All the time a not so super hub is being blamed it is giving them time to improve there own infrastructure.

Yes, I agree with you on the fact that the infrastructure, in alot of areas, can't handle what's required of it. At the end of the day, though, the superhub is not really fit for purpose.
I upgraded from 20 to 50 meg and was supplied with the hub, it was nothing but trouble from day 1. Max speed was 20 - 25 meg, port forwarding was hit and miss while wireless virtually unusable. I have 3 voip ata's and could not get them to operate reliably enough to make a call.
Prior to the upgrade I had a modem connected to my WNDR 3700 router which worked faultlessly and always topped 20 meg with reliable voip services.
I am now still with Virgin, and getting a steady 50 meg down and 5 meg up, all voip units run as they should do and wireless covers all my property in and out and have a faultless service -

How did I fix my problems and get back to my perfect service? Complained in writing to their media CEO, Nigel Burkett about the disgusting service I was getting and that I would migrate to Infinity if nothing was done soon.I had a return email the following day and within 4 days there was a bright shiney new VMNG 300 stand alone modem delivered by the postie. A phone call later and I was back on line with the service I was paying for - result.

You say the power dies when you connect the cable between the rotor and the lnb. Remove the cable - does the dish move when you select different satellites? If it does then connect this cable back again BUT only at the rotor end, does the dish still move?
If the dish moves with the cable completely disconnected then it's either the cable or lnb at fault. If the dish moves with the cable only connected to the rotor then it looks like an lnb problem, if the dish doesn't move then it looks like a cable fault. Check carefully that the outer braid is not making contact with the center conductor, even a single strand of braid can cause a problem. Substituting the lnb is the only way to check this out.
    Hope you get sorted soon.
