Also if I remember correctly I could not get a softcam to work installing from ipk or the panel. I had to got to plugin screen then press menu button, scroll to bottom of list to user feed url. Then enter http://secret.mynonpublic.com/wetek followed by pressing green to save. Once I had done this oscam was available in plugins menu and could be installed from there, This is on the wetek play1 assuming the play 2 is similar it may help. After installing oscam from plugin menu I found I could then install newer cams from the panel. I had the same experience as you are having installing from elsewhere the cam appears to install but it is not able to be activated or be accessed until I had done the above

Just a follow up: would recommend the seller and the Os mega to anyone in the market for a box of this type. Since receiving it have installed hdd and flashed with Open Vix also installed Kiddacs Slyk skin as the wife is familiar with the layout of the skin. Picture quality is very good and everything seems very fast and fluent, wife loves it and has mastered recording, kodi and used the hotkeys to set up the remote control to suit herself. Hopefully it will be a reliable piece of kit, it has not given me any reason to think otherwise. The only issue I have experienced so far is trying to get the remote away from her.

I bought the official wetek E2 remote and have since sold my Wetek. You can have the E2 remote if you are in the UK I will post to you if you cover postage costs. The official E2 remote is horrible though and requires real heavy pressure on the ok button to confirm an action. There are keymaps on the wetek forum that work with the original remotes on Openatv which would be my preference. I had the openelec remote and with the right keymaps it was far nicer to use than the E2 remote.

attached is functions of standard remote with atv

I have the shield as well and I use SPMC on that, I like the latest update for the Shield as well it has to be the best box for Kodi ,Spmc, Amazon and Netflix by a mile. The Shield lives in my hideout with the other boys toys, and the satellite box I am getting is for her ladyship so will be in the lounge along with the roku 2 which she loves for it's ease of use. Thanks for the advice Master G and robd1978 .I am leaning toward the edision mega as I already have the edision mini which has been a good little box

I am looking for a wife friendly box, which needs to be:
    1. Easy to navigate 2 Easy to set recordings and series link 3 Be able to record at least one channel while watching another, also full kodi would be nice but not essential. It needs to have good support,ie not abandoned when the next new model in the range appears. I have a list of 5 boxes that I have seen but am open to extra suggestions, the ones I have been looking at are Dreambox DM7020 HD V2 2x DVB-S2 ,
VU+ Solo 2 Twin Tuner DVB-S2, GiGaBlue HD ULTRA UE 2X DVB-S/S2, Xtrend ET8500 2x DVB-S2 and finally the Edision OS MEGA TRIPLE TUNER COMBO any help and advice appreciated.

Flashing android on the Wetek openelec should not cause too many problems I have done it before just prior to installing open atv on nand. These boxes are hard to totally brick, if you can boot to recovery by pressing the reset with no sdcard inserted and wipe cache and media then reboot and pop sdcard in and install android or openelec it should be ok. If it won't allow you to do it or still bootloops have a look at this post on Wetek forum as mine did this after I turned the box upside down to flash it http://www.wetekforums.com/v/i…ity-sim-on-wetek-openelec . Also this thread gives a different recovery image to try http://www.wetekforums.com/v/i…wto-unbrick-wetek-play/p1 PS apologies to the mods for links to Wetek site but since the Wetek forum revamp a few months back lots of the threads on there send you round in circles so searching for answers is a mare

The link you posted leads to an invalid xml file. What guide should it be, is it the reset guide using rs232 cable ? Also the Wetek openelec box is different in a couple of ways Uboot is different to android version. Another difference is the Openelec box has a security sim card which will cause a bootloop if not seated correctly. It would be useful to know which restore guide you followed can you post another link. If it is the guide to reset using rs232 cable it will bootloop afterwards until you reinstall Openelec or Android as you have effectively wiped all of the OS bar the boot partition and it has nothing to boot into.

    Hi Honcho,

I've spent the day trying to download one of your Openelec backups from Dropbox the whole day, but it keeps failing. I know this is probably the fault of Dropbox and not you, but do you have a more recent Openelec backup that you could upload?

    Many thanks regardless!

I just downloaded the 1.06 GB tar file from post 66 in this thread took six minutes in total on 35mbps wireless connection. is this the one you are trying to download as the one in first post of thread seems dead.If you want a more recent version Honcho has done a Libreelec backuo as well which I used to update my openelec sdcard installation

Yes I reckon you are right Sky block hdmi devices which rules out just about all android/android based boxes or sticks, don't know if one of the clever people at xda developers have found a way round it yet. I do know when the sky go app on wifes tablet stopped working it was following an update to the app and the tablet itself even uninstalling and downloading the old version failed to get it working again.

This worked ages ago on some fire tablets but more recent updates via amazon and sky seem to have screwed it completely it stopped working on wifes fire tablet months ago. I think any android device which is rooted or uses HDMI is not supported at all. Hope i am wrong and you find an answer. Sky go and Now tv have got to be the most useless and obstructive apps ever, only 2 devices allowed and you have to wait a month after removing a device before you can add another in Now tvs case anyway. Good Luck fella think you will need it

All my Wetek devices have been delivered within 48 hours to the UK when ordering direct from Wetek. I chose to order direct rather than through a third party seller because if you have any issues it makes things easier to get sorted. I had issues with one of my remotes and a power supply unit and after contacting Wetek via email a replacement was received within 2 days of emailing the support team. I have been very critical of Wetek at times but cannot fault their commitment to their products and their attempts to improve the software installed.

Unsure what they are doing tbh, both channel and bouquet data would be the best idea, but if the play1 android experience is anything to go by half a job will do. I reckon they have ditched development for the play1 completely in order to try and patch up the play2. They do have a new android wiz there now goes by the name ricardopvz and he looks as though he will get a grip of the play2. Seems as though he is for ditching wetv app and utilising tvheadend in android.
