    panasonic now use LG panels!!!

A lot of the prominent tv makers share the same components ie motherboard, usually this is foxconn.
if I was in ur shoes I would be looking at the internal components, the engine, the bigger the engine the faster and better the TV.
Also a lot to the modern TVs are programened to start breaking after a certain number of years so when they do start get rid. This came from within sony themselves.

    hope it helps

I have open vix back on it now maybe i was lucky. Thank f**k for back-ups

    Thanks guys.

Ts media wont update on this receiver, you will have to install manually everytime.

Also the judder has been fixed and if you download the latest openpli it has the fix built in to it, or wait for a while I'm sure it wont belong before backup images start to appear

    Hi guys.
Does anyone here know do I have to flash the receiver with a bootloader before I flash with the team red image or does it come with the image like vix. " teamRED-2.0-gbquad-17072013_usb.zip"
If so what files do I put on memory stick.
It has picked up the image and warned about flashing I hit ok and its says flashing in progress.
but once it has finished it does not boot.
The team red logo comes on screen with gigablue quad in the middle.

    Thanks

    Success at last.
Here is what I did, Formatted memory stick using CMD in windows,
Put the Gigablue folder on Memory stick.
Switched The receiver off, unplugged it and inserted memory stick.
I left it unplugged for 10 mins or so, switched it back on.
And got the prompt to flash the receiver.

I would like to thank all who read and responded with post's regarding this thread.

    Thanks again everyone. beer10

I have downloaded the latest vix image for the receiver
    Extracted the files.
Copied the gigablue folder over usb pen drive formatted as fat 32. (gigablue/ue/8files)
    Turned the receiver of.
    Inserted the usb stick.
    Restarted the box.

It boots straight back into vix. The reason I want to re-install is here: http://linuxsat-support.com/en…-install-plugins-vix.html
I have also done a factory restore on the image but the problem is still there.

I have tried now several usb keys which all work on the gigablue quad.
Also have used hp format tool to format the usb sticks to fat32

Is there any other way around this, like copying the file to my external hard drive which is set for epg and recordings, which vix can see.

Or has anyone got a backup for the above receiver that I could install through vix.

Any help or info greatly appreciated.

I have tried to install a few plugins on my gigablue ue. Vix image
I keep getting the same message:

    Collection errors.
*Parse_from_stream-nomalloc: Excessively long line at 7. Corrupt file. the plugins I was trying to install ended in mipsel32.ipk

Can anyone tell me what the above means and how can I fix it.

I have also tried to download various plugins from within the plugins menu and it keeps crashing.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

I have the gigablue quad, its an awesome receiver compared to the old alien I used to have.
I have had open vix, great image, also had open mips on it another great image.
I have it conneted to my surround sound (Sony) about 5 years old both images had no configuration to be done to get the surround sound working.
The receiver is lighting fast channel change/boot up etc.

these receivers take a bit of learning to get to know, its a bit of a learning curve.
Regardless what brand you buy just because something does not work it does not mean the fault lies with the receiver, usually its down to something on the user end.
I know because anything that could go wrong has gone wrong on me.

you could always use spark, no juddering on that side of things. The only problem there is epg is crap. although it is supposed to be fixed with version .68, you amy have to update it trough the usb. IPTV streaming is also good.

On most images there will be some studdering, Im using pkt hyperion image, and there is studddering although it is not as bad.
I would advice you to give spark a go and see what you think.

I had an amiko alien2 triple tuner, watched the saorview channels here in Ireland, but be warned that this depends on the image you have installed on the amiko , I had it working on the HDMU images.

Just bought a gigablue quad cost a bit more but well worth it , but also watching the saorview channels on it with the vix image. i got the dvb-t tuner installed when I purchased it. I have not set up a hard-drive on this yet so cant answer all of ur questions.

You will get all the BBC's and ITV's and loads more because they are free-sat anyway on both receivers,
