How to Use the LinuxSat-Support Gallery (Images & Videos)

The Gallery is where members share images and videos with the community. To add your own: click Upload, choose an image (gif, jpeg, jpg or png) or an mp4 video — or link a video from YouTube, Vimeo or Dailymotion instead of uploading a file.

Open the Gallery from the main menu to see the latest uploads, sorted by time of upload. The sidebar shows the Most Viewed and Newest Images, and you can browse by Category (for example Enigma2 BootLogo Gallery or Enigma2 Picon Gallery) from the list in the sidebar.

What's the Difference Between a Category and an Album?

A Category is assigned when an image or video is uploaded and groups it with similar content site-wide (for example all boot logos, or all picons). An Album is a personal collection any member can create — use it to group your own uploads together, for example all the screenshots from one project.

How Do I Create My Own Album?

Click Albums in the Gallery menu, then Create Album. Give it a title, and choose whether it's visible to everyone or restricted to registered users only. You can search existing albums by title using the Album Search box in the sidebar.

How Do I Upload an Image or Video?

Click Upload in the Gallery, then choose the image or video tile. You can upload a single file, several at once, or a zip, tar or gzip archive of images in one go. Once uploaded, click the thumbnail to add a title, description, and assign it to a category or one of your albums.

What Are the Upload Limits?

  • Images — gif, jpeg, jpg or png; up to 300 MB per file; between 400×300 and 3,000×3,000 pixels (larger images are automatically downscaled).
  • Videos — mp4 only, up to 10 GB per file.
  • Linked videos — YouTube, Vimeo and Dailymotion links can be added instead of uploading a file, with no file size limit.

Your account has a total quota for images, videos and linked videos — check Upload → Show restrictions to see how much of yours you've used.

How Do I React or Comment on an Image?

Open an image or video and use the reaction icons beneath it to react, or scroll down to the Comments section to leave a comment. As on the forum, use the reaction button rather than a comment that only says thanks.

How Do I Edit or Report My Upload?

On any image or video page, click Edit to change its title, description, category or album (if you're the uploader), or the Report flag to flag content that breaks the forum rules.

Common Problems

  • Why was my image resized? Images larger than 3,000×3,000 pixels are automatically downscaled to fit — this is normal and not an error.
  • Why won't my image upload? Check the file is a supported type (gif, jpeg, jpg, png) and at least 400×300 pixels — smaller images are rejected.
  • Can I make my album private? Yes — set it to registered-users-only when you create it, or edit it afterwards, so guests can't view it.
  • Why can't I upload more? Every account has an image, video and storage quota — check Upload → Show restrictions to see how much you have left.
