Since early 2020, OE-Alliance images such as OpenATV and OpenViX require a password before they will allow FTP access. You will not be able to connect over FTP until you set one. There are two ways to do this.
Option 1 — From the Receiver Menu
Go to Menu → Setup → Network → Password, create your password, then press the Green button to save.
Pressing TEXT will open the full keyboard.
Option 2 — From the Command Line
You can also set the password from a command line using an application such as PuTTY or a terminal. OpenWebIf on most images has a built-in Terminal, so you won't need a separate application.
Issue the following command:
passwd
You will be prompted to enter the new password. The cursor will not move while you type — that is normal. Press Return after entering your password, then retype it to confirm the change.

hi abu baniaz,
on OpenATV 6.4 both options does not work to delet the ftp password.
passwd ftp -d
In my network i don' need any passwords for my devices.
I think it's stupid that you can't delete the password.
If i don't find an accurate way to delet these fuc.ing passwords openatv died for me.
why do the developers work against the users? I do not understand.
Ähm, on a Dreambox DM900.

hello I am using openvix 6.4. I upgraded from 5 to 6. 4 the latest and can not use dreambox control center anymore.
So frustrating. Unless there is another way, I will have to downgrade to version 5 again and hope it works.
Tried everything else and totally baffled .
