This is awesome! I now see the correct way of using them for multiple groups. This clears up a lot of my issues. Thank you so much, just awesome!!!!

A common thing I see lately with newer versions of oscam is the missing log level line in oscam.conf. Sample below.
When you enter the oscam webif>live log and scroll down to settings. Debug level 2 is supposed to show the channel hash. With 0000 as the GROUP if you didn't assign one in your softcam.key file.

I have noticed that when you do set the level combination to your preference and save it. The next time you enter the webif, the setting has not been saved.
pasted-from-clipboard.png
The line needed to keep the setting is missing as you can see in the upper code under the [global] section.
What is needed is to add a line in that section as follows. Keeping the line formatting, spaces, etc. the same as your existing file.
I am not so sure editing oscam.conf within the webif using the Files tab at the top of the webif does the trick.I do know at times using it to add keys in the softcam.key file (Files>other files) and then saving it was a no-go. So I always use notepad++ for any text edits.
So what is needed is to add the line shown below. Set your debug level to 2 for showing hash. Or add the multiple levels together and end up with a decimal number. Save it. Restart oscam. You should be good to go.
[tt
[global]
logfile = /media/hdd/logs
initial_debuglevel = 2
nice = -1
waitforcards = 0
readerrestartseconds = 1
][/tt]
I set it up this way => and I can now see the HASH for each channel. This bit of knowledge has helped me immensely. I was frustrated before but now I am getting my files all lined up!

Well, After spending many hours I have successfully destroyed my key file and I am as lost as I can be. I am having a hard time understanding how the groups work vs using the srvid of the channel only. I am continuing to work on this but I am only confusing myself with this. I also have an issue where the channel will not show a hash unless it is able to find a reader. Here is an example of what I am seeing.

Those FTA channels will not show a channel hash until they go back scrambled.

No factory reset is necessary. All you need to do is edit the oscam configuration files, or delete them and start configuring oscam again via the oscam web interface.

Those FTA channels will not show a channel hash until they go back scrambled.
I did not know that! That is another whole in my knowledge that you have filled. That makes sense. I was thinking that every channel would have a hash, but now knowing the FTA won't simplifies things even more. Thanks for the help.

When I started out Jenseneverest helped me patiently to understand. We could start from scratch with a test keys file for you to try.
I would ask what version of oscam you are using and if you can post the config directory.
Also newer versions of oscam have a ton of readers that you simply do not need for usa sats.So if you go to the oscam webif and click the Readers tab. Then click the left side to turn off every reader except emulator. Good start.
Let's start with the satellite, transponder, and SID you're interested in receiving. I'll make a new keys file from scratch the way format mine.
Unsure of the SID? On your receiver, hit Menu and then Information. Then scroll to Service. Service ID:
You will see two numbers. One in hex with four digits. That's what we need. The numbers in parentheses is decimal. You'll probably see that in satellite charts.
The channel in your attachment above is in fact currently in the clear. Are you able to clear it also? I'm taking it that it is on 101W 4048 V.
And the SID is 00C9. That is shown in P: 0E00:000000:00C9:1770:0000. Same as mine.
So let's try to grab the hash from one of the similar channels on 4030 V for starters.

Thanks for this response. I would call you Long Haired, but I can't bring myself to call you IDIOT! ;-) I am still a relatively new guy at this. I am an E.E. and I am not stupid, but, I am old! I am retired military and if you know what a 2n222 transistor is you really know where I cut my teeth. It takes me a few repetitions to beat something into my brain these days and I am back at the beating! I have a couple of questions about what you graciously provided for me. When I look at 4080V, I have taken what you provided and came up with this using 1101 for my group

Is this correct or what am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the help. It is appreciated!

Cool?This is great! I really appreciate it. I am following along and have ensured all readers are off except the emulator. I have posted most items requested and I am following along. The transponder I posted is 101W 4048V and yes, I do have it in the clear. 101W 4030V is the one that I should have posted. I can now get the HASH for it, and all encrypted channels, the help from here has been great! I was confused about some channels having a hash and some not. I now understand why some do not have a hash.
Everything posted so far I am familiar with. I am anxiously awaiting the next lesson!

Can you give me some advice on what to do. I am about to do a factory reset and start over, one SAT and TP at a time to get this stuff right. ABout the time I think I have it figured out I get the rug pulled out from under me!
Sorry if I didn't notice your info so far, but can you provide some info:
what box brand do you have with what chip brand: Arm or Mips ?
what oscam version are you using in the box ?
can you post your config files (should be only 4 in config folder); just one sample (1tp), from SoftCam.Key file ?
do not wory about losing the SoftCam.Key file; it can be rebuild (copy), with the help from this site.
Here is the info:

You need EMM KEYS, as the ECM keys are rolling every so often (from hour to hour &/or from day to day !)

Found it in my saved emm lists. Not sure if it is even valid for 3930 on 103w. I can't check that transponder any more with a blue filter.
