Cool TV Guide Support

Have just updated my Duo to Black Hole 1.7.3 and wanted to install latest Cool TV guide.

Found ver 5.6.2 in TSPanel downloads and installed it.

But when I press EPG to activatate the guide I get a message saying a new version is available and that i should download it from cooltvguide.com. And thats it, cooltvguide can't be activated.

Well i thought, entered the URL in IE and hit return. But now IE says it can't find the site.

It actually seems the site doesn't exist! Duuuuh!

How cool is that? Not very in my opinion. :bad_smelly:

So i tried to install ver 5.5.0. Same message. So i tried to install ver 5.0.0 which i have runt for months on BH 1.6.5. Same f...ing message again.

There are a lot of very enthusiastic programmers/hackers in this field with sat boxes. That is great, nothing wrong with enthusiasm. But I only wish there was a bit more professionalism. It would make life for us end users much easier.

So, can anyone please tell me how i can install cool tv guide and avoid getting this stupid message.

Installed 5.6.2 from TSPanel as i said in my original post.

Found the problem.

I also had a problem with time not updating from the sat. My year was 2017.

That made cooltvguide activate some kind of time bomb that causes the plug not to run. So now we know at least that coolmans software has a built in time limit.

Reflashed the image which cured the problem with time not updating from the sat. Then installed coolmans TV guide which now works as expected when system time says year is 2012. Just wondering which year it will stop working?

hi is there a tut for setting up cool tv guide ive got it in my plugins but un like cross epg i cant seem to set up providers to download from ?

CoolTV is not a EPG in it self but more a GUI that sits on top of your EPG or more like a fancy skin in simple terms.

I have installed the latest version, I shows when I go into the plugins, I can access using long press on the blue button, and their are various options, but with no idea of where to start, or how to begin.

But when I go into Epg it does not show the CoolTV just the basic tv channels with no further info.

I know this is all second nature to all you experienced folks, but to the novice, we seem to get one bit done, then the next thing is like starting again.
Once again I ask the same question, is their a user guide or even quick start help

push long press on the blue button than choice cool tv guide or any cool tv option you need than new window pop up ,than use cool tv guide and enjoy. look at my screen shot here

If you want to assign it to a particular button you can install MultiQuickButton and map one of your coloured buttons to start Cool TV!

Ah good point...I had forgotten about that!!

One thing you need to remember about Cool TV Guide is that it feeds of your existing EPG information as a front end - it doesn't actually grab any epg info from online or on-air. You need other means to do this, so if you haven't already, best to download CrossEPG and set this up for daily updates.

So Cooltv does not run unless you press the assigned button, can I assign the Guide button as it does not seem to do anything..

I upgraded from Cool TV Guide 5.1. The odd thing is that my picons don´t work now. They show up in the infobar though.
So no picons og coolpicons after upgrade. Did the default picon folder change ? I have them on a USB stick mounded as /media/hdd/picons
Running Dreambox800HD se with Enigma2 and Scarlett HD skin.
