no my friend got it from another site pal..wish I never listened to him now..proper gutted about my box skint me to buy it

Don't panic yet. just take it one step at a time.

power the receiver down fully for at least ten minutes.

Download the bootloader from the link I provided and prepare the USB stick (make sure you format the stick first using the HP format tool from this link).

    http://www.pcworld.com/product…-storage-format-tool.html

Now flash the bootloader, it only takes seconds so dont worry if it's fast.

Then power the receiver down, remove the stick, format it again and prepare the image from the link above and flash that.

Flashing the image alone should be fine, but then again you can never guarantee what people put in some of these so called backups, a incorrectly flashed bootloader however can and will destroy the boot sector on the receiver, and it's not easily fixable.

Have you tried flashing the bootloader since ?. you can get it from here. http://www.openvix.co.uk/index…%2B_Bootloaders/Vu%2BDuo/

Then power down and reflash the image again from here http://www.openvix.co.uk/index.php?dir=Vu%2BDuo/

so is there no warranty at all?

In the UK you have a standard 12 month warranty by law, any thing longer is at the sellers discretion. in Europe however its 24 months.

Maybe if you told us how this RED light problem occurred in the first place we could offer more help. for example was it during or after installing a image or plugin ?. have you tried to reflash either the image or bootloader since and what were the results ??.

Thanks for this but still dont work on open atv image vu solo2 cheers

you dont need to run any of those commands if your ATV image is upto date as those dependencies are built into the image, these commands are mainly needed for PLI who dont by default carry the correct dependencies for this version of CrossEPG.

your receiver does not have the affected capacitors that would need changing, it was designed this way in the factory to eliminate that problem. your receiver is suffering from something else.

Either place it on a memory stick or FTP it to the HDD and use the inbuilt media player to play it, you dont need to faff on with TSmedia, Also remember AVI's especially are simply containers, the codeks contained within can differ wildly and your STB can only play files encoded in a very narrow range so not all external files will work, and you can not add more codeks to your STB either.

Build 109 also has the new 1920x1080 HD skin by schweeler MetrixHD 1080 available to download from the image plugin feeds.

Some of you may have noticed that the Vuplus player is missing from the Google play store. So here is a statement from the plugins author that he just posted on the ViX forum.

You need to be on a supported channel that is actually broadcasting a active HbbTv stream in order to use HbbTv, it is not broadcast at all in the uk but you will find some supported channels the European satellites, so look at 19.2 east or 13.0 east. you will know when you have hit a supported channel when the HbbTv icon lights up on your first or second infobar.

It's not a problem with your image but the Vu+ drivers.

ALL images now using the newer versions of Gstreamer v 1.4.4 have lost all IPTV functions including streaming channels and playing media files not created by the receiver, this only affects Vu+ hardware, all other manufacturers are ok.

This is because Vu+ are building their drivers based on their old OE which uses a very old version of Gstreamer used by DM. Unless Vu+ update their libraries this will not be fixed. This is also why we (ViX) have at this moment in time shelved our new image until we find out if Vu+ are going to fix this or not. (yet another example of the poor support offered by Vu+).

Sony to release 'The Interview' for free on their Crackle service
Less than a week after Sony announced they were canceling the release of 'The Interview' and that they had 'no future plans for its release," we have some encouraging news this weekend.
Sources claim the studio will release the now infamous comedy for free on Crackle, their free streaming service that has a catalog of older content.

Sony canceled the release after their attackers threatened terrorist attacks against movie theaters and movie goers. The movie theater chains refused the show the film, and Sony says that streaming sites also refused to take the film for distribution.

It will be interesting to see if the studio will keep their original release date of Christmas, December 25th.

The best solution would be to google your TV's make and model number along with the term overscan then turn overscan off. The reason you tend to see this issue with ViX (and ATV as thats based on the ViX image ) is that we have only ever used HD skins that cover the entire screen which dont compensate for overscan.
